OH WONDER IN CONCERT:
London-based indie pop duo Oh Wonder made their debut in 2014 with an ambitious promise: post one song a month to their Soundcloud account. One year later they collected the songs for their self-titled first album, which cracked the Top 40 hit on the UK Albums Chart that also made waves in the US. At their first shows in support of the release the pair proved themselves stellar performers, bringing lush, romantic synthpop-influenced gems like “Drive” and “Technicolor Beat” to life with their signature guy-girl vocals and live keys, guitar, and drums. Their powerful performances and growing reputation has their concerts selling out left and right, and fans won’t want to sleep on the chance to catch these rising pop auteurs on tour.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Oh Wonder, aka Josephine Vander Gucht and Anthony West, formed in Southeast London in 2014. They posted their debut track “Livewire” on Soundcloud that same year and pushed themselves by following up each month with a new song. The tracks quickly topped the Hype Machine charts and racked up millions of views on Soundcloud, and in 2015 Oh Wonder collected the songs along with additional singles “Without You” and “Plans” for the self-titled 2015 debut album. The record was popular with critics and landed on charts across Europe, including a No. 26 showing on the UK Albums Chart. Since then they’ve impressed on their first headlining tour, selling out venues around the world and wowing fans with confident and mesmerizing performances that belie their recent arrival to the scene.
This is by far the best concert I have ever been to! Oh Wonder was at the top of their game and really outstanding.
The venue was so-so and my friend and I weren’t too thrilled about waiting outside in the 90 degree heat, but the performance by Oh Wonder and the opening artist was amazing!
I loved how both the opener and Oh Wonder made their show an experience as opposed to just singing their songs as if off the album. Everyone was extremely happy and easy going. Definitely going again.
Great concert on a awesome venue. Would attend a concert at Newport at anytime.
the venue was great but i mean oh wonder was just spectacular as always
I went alone because my friend could not attend, and this show was STILL one of the best I’ve ever been to. If you love the artist, you love the artist. Josephine and Anthony know how to perform! The best part was that they really transmitted their energy to the crowd. Everyone was dancing and singing. You could hear the authenticity in their voices during the songs without a doubt.
This being a Anniversary gift attached to a three-part letter written with only Oh Wonder lyrics(best boyfriend ever!) words can't explain what the experience felt like being there, I was overwhelmed that I was actually getting to see them, I thought mutiple times I can't believe this is happening. hehe They were amazing live, absolutely amazing! You can feel all the emotions in the air and there was nothing but fun and happiness all around. <3 I love a lot of bands/artists and music but I will always say without hesitation they're my favorite. So I highly, HIGHLY recommend seeing Oh Wonder! :)
This show was in a big place and didn’t sale out. I have been that venue a million times and have never heard a more respectful crowd. Amazing
Amazing show and really energetic crowd. Josephine and Anthony were super into it and really dedicated to their music.
Great concert with 2 Amzing bands. Vorh so talented. CNt wait to see then again
Amazing. Lighting work was well done and they were full of energy, making the concert fun and great!
Great stage vibe and great opening from Astronomyy.
Some bands I’ve seen don’t have much of a stage presence or don’t bother checking their levels. Not so with Oh Wonder. They sounded great and kept the audience engaged right to the end. Amazing show!
Loved the venue and oh Wonder was incredible! I would love to see them again.
i was super bummed i missed oh wonder and honne perform in sf earlier this year, but so glad they came back around to perform at my favorite venue in the bay area. they crushed it.
I loved this - I love Oh Wonder, I loved where I sat (which was admittedly top of the balcony right in front of the stairs, it was almost frightening), but honestly what spoke to me most was this guy I dubbed Brock McHuge just down from me. He was this massive guy in a Seahawks jersey with a baseball cap backward and a giant beer. I was like "no way is this guy a big Oh Wonder fan." Oh how wrong I was. He knew every word. He was dancing so hard to be in tears. He screamed the words as loud as he could, and his friends next to him were patting him on the back. Halfway through the show, his girlfriend said "Pardon us, my boyfriend needs to get to the floor to dance." We let him through. 100% would attend a show with Brock McHuge again.
This concert was absolutely incredible and I was legitimately sad when it was over. I’m already looking forward to their next album and tour!
Oh Wonder put on a great show and chose a great venue to sell out their show
I LOVEEEE coming to the Fox theater! One of my top favorite venues. Lines are always quick and simple. Oh Wonder, was definitely unforgettable. They were amazingggg! One of the best concerts I've been to! SO THANK YOU! :)
