    Brought back fun memories!!

by whittman on 8/16/11OC Fair & Event Center - Costa Mesa

Dead Mans Party was awesome, they put on a really good show and for the price you could not beat an event like this! I look forward to seeing them again in October!

    2011 OC County Fair

by Philizay on 8/16/11OC Fair & Event Center - Costa Mesa

Overall, I enjoy going to this event every year. Even though it's smaller than the LA County Fair, I actually like it more. The food is great, and it doesn't get as hot there as Pomona. I wouldn't recommend going the 1st or last week of this event since it attracts the most people. Try going either the 2nd or 3rd week.

The Fair was fun but a money pit.

by NanaNanaBobana on 8/16/11OC Fair & Event Center - Costa Mesa

I love the OC Fair, at least the part that is really the Fair. I love the art that moved - the flying birds were neat. I want one for my back yard! The Alaskan Racing Picgs were great and the host was pretty funny. He kept calling the pigs, "The Athletes." Loved it. The dog show Jump! was pretty boring. The guy talked too much between what was basically the same Frisbee catch over and over. The best part was waiting while the starring dog took the longest dump on record in the middle of the show. The host needs to watch the pig races and take lessons. The parts that were the Fair itself were fun. My grandson loved feeding the animals, cows, goats and lambs. We loved the nice big pond with Koi fish. The awesomely fun bug exhibit with giant sandbox for the kids to play in was a nice break for parents to rest up with benches all around. I would also recommend going early in the Fair schedule - the first couple weeks - while the judging and competitions are still going on. There is more to see. BUT, The carnival part was so extremely expensive it would have been a joke except it hurt too much. Bringing my young grandson and having to say he couldn't ride things because were couldn't afford the tickets hurt. If you spent $40 for tickets you could maybe get 3 rides and those were the sucky 60 second dark rides or the suoerslide. The ferris wheel was 12 tickets and at 50 cents a ticket that meant it was 18 bucks for 3 of us. (Two adults and a 3 yr old) Any other good ride was 10 tickets or $5. How ridiculous is that? You can try to avoid the carnival area but it's hard since it makes up more half of the Fair area. There were no reasonable priced food options so bring your own if you aren't wealthy. $10 for a turkey leg was the best deal we saw because at least it fed two. Everything started at $10-15. Even hotdogs and hamburgers. We brought our own water bottles but had a hard time finding places to refill them. Be sure and get a map on the way in or even better, look one up online before you go so you know the lay of the land before you get there and can avoid the carnival.

Fun but lots of money spending!

by SunnyMelody on 8/16/11OC Fair & Event Center - Costa Mesa

Wow! This place is really fun and great! A wonderful place to go with friends and family! BUT, you spend a lot of money there....even if you're only riding the carnival rides. And, the employees are all pretty much grumpy and don't look like they really care. Other than all that, it's a great place and has lots of interesting attractions like the Ice Sculpture Museum. :)

    OC Fair

by pesche on 8/16/11OC Fair & Event Center - Costa Mesa

while the event is fun to go to, the cost for a family of four is prohibitive. The food is too expensive and the cost of the rides is ridiculous. I think the event could raise more money through more sponsorships and that should be passed down to reduce the cost for rides and food.

    OC Fair

by JXRTT on 8/16/11OC Fair & Event Center - Costa Mesa

Disappointment! How true! From the very first line you were made to stand in to the very last line you stood in, the whole event was poor… Food was very bad (at least what my friends and I had) The exhibits seemed like they were the same as last years, everything just seemed tired and old. The only real highlight was in the wood working exhibit where we say a beautiful Kayak. Maybe next year they can get some new inspirations and make this event exciting and special!

    Pat Benatar still rocks!

by Victrious on 8/16/11OC Fair & Event Center - Costa Mesa

Began the night having Chicken and Waffles, YUM! Walked around snacking Dippin' Dots and shopping for jewelry and purses. Watched Pat Benatar rock it out on stage with her talented husband! Sang along with hundreds of fans and held up our cell phones (like a lighter) during one of her beloved songs! Topped off the night with Deep Fried Kool Aid, Thin Mints, and Oreo cookies and went to bed with a tummy ache! It was a fabulous evening! I would do it all over again!

OC Fair - Plan details before you go!

by puppyluv7612 on 8/16/11OC Fair & Event Center - Costa Mesa

The OC Fair is a great place for people of all ages. Everyday is packed with entertainment, food, games, rides, you name it! However, I strongly advise you to plan your day out FIRST. So, before you go, look up the event schedule online. See what shows or exhibits you are interested in seeing, then create a schedule that allows you to see as many of them as you can! (You may not get to see them ALL since many events run at the same time and overlap-which is good because it shows you how many options you really have!) If you don't plan out your day ahead of time, you'll end up going there and spending all your money on games and rides and food. To play games and ride rides, you need to first buy tickets. Tickets are $20 for 40 tickets. To give you an idea of how long that'll last you.... You and your friend are at the fair.... 2 tries at balloon dart game = 5 minutes, 14 tickets 2 rides on the wild mouse ride = 10 minutes, 24 tickets 15 minutes pass, and you're already down to 2 tickets! you and your friend each played one game and went on one ride, and now you're down 20 bucks. The games and rides are money pits, but the neat exhibits are totally worth it and make the value of your ticket seem like a huge bargain. Ice sculptors, animation demos, acrobats, singing, dancing, hypnotists, barber shop quartets, petting zoo, galleries, shopping... you can even have your picture of you sitting on an elephant!

Its ok for the day or to try once or go for food

by JoeyBallzMcBigMe on 8/16/11OC Fair & Event Center - Costa Mesa

Food overpriced (hit or miss) and so are the games and rides no surprise. Its definite one of those events to go and look and eat and let the kids ride a ride or two and check out the animals. I do admit it was fun we'll see how this compares to the LA co fair. Check it out once or just go for the food.
