by bondgirl7 on 3/15/16North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

The performance was absolutely amazing from the orchestra to the pianist to the singer. Absolutely incredible. It was my first event there. I was humming the tunes all night long!!!

Classic music which brings me back to my younger days. Exemplary performance by the North Charleston POPS along with Jeans and Classics.

  • Superior Performance

by Vorname on 2/2/16North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

This was a particularly exceptional concert incorporating vocal and orchestra with contributing players for a spectacular performance. The bar keeps getting higher and higher each and every N. Charleston POPs event!

  • just not good

by Nolagal9 on 2/2/16North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 1 out of 5

just not good- could hardly hear the musicians- the back up singers were dressed so poorly and sung just as bad. The other singers were sub- par- and off key alot- really was looking forward to this performance- several people left at intermission like us- just not worth the time- not exciting or enjoyable-

Orchestra was great, singing was a little weak but the singers had a great personality and were very entertaining

  • Wonderful trip to memory lane

by Windchill on 2/2/16North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 4 out of 5

Truly enjoyable. Lots of good memories. Overall, the Charleston Pops added good support to Coldplay, and I would definitely attend again to an "Oldies but Goodies" concert of the 70's and 80's.

  • North Chuck Pops was very good!

I would definitely attend this even again in the future! It was very entertaining.

  • Great Concert but Historical Inaccuracies

by Garhawks on 11/19/15North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 4 out of 5

My wife and I attended this concert and the music was beautiful. However, I would recommend that if there is going to be historical information, it needs to be correct. During the opening slide show, as well as during the performance, it was pointed out that Gone with the Wind was filmed in 2 locations in the Charleston area - that is not true. The Seltzners put out a book describing the entire activities of the filming of Gone with the Wind. In this book it clearly states that all filming was done on the back lots of Hollywood with sets built. Yes, the producers did visit Boone Hall Plantation and did take pictures of the avenue of oaks. Yes, the producers did take pictures of downtown. But none of the actual filming was done outside of Hollywood. The actors traveling down the avenue of oaks was actually a plate glass painted to look as if the filming was done through the trees. You can also check the court records as the producers of Gone with the Wind, took the owners of BHP to court because the family was telling the same false information that was presented at the performance. The Patriot was filmed in Charleston, but only Beaufort was mentioned during the performance. The bottom line is that if you are going to tie in to any historical event, make sure you research the correct information. Otherwise it was quite an enjoyable performance.

  • Unbelievable Performance

by BillyMS on 11/11/15North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

The Charleston POPS is the best that I have ever seen, The variety of music that they played last Saturday night was unbelievable. From movie themes, to Porgey & Bess to Duke Ellington. If you don't come out for the next show, you are missin' it.

  • The N Chs Pops Rocks!!!

by lkjhjh on 11/10/15North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

What a great night at the Low Country Blast by the North Charleston Pops! The selections were awesome and so nice to see the shaggers - young and old. The Pops Kids Chorus was super - such great esteem building for the children. Wonderful to have the salute to the military and get the audience involved. The high point for me though was listening and watching the Low Country Voices - a superb gospel, etc. choir - so animated, dedicated, and committed to their music - kudos to the Conductor. The whole Pops orchestra was marvelous, especially the pianist and the horns section, and the Conductor was truly involved and engaging. Thanks for creating the North Charleston Pops Orchestra and for reaching out locally (Summerville) to let everyone know about it.

  • Pops Review

by Sisusa on 11/10/15North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 3 out of 5

This was the second NCP performance I attended. The first being the tribute to John Williams. I enjoyed the evening so much that I knew I'd be back to the Low Country Blast. The Low Country blast performance was less about the music and more about advertising, showcasing children, and others. I was hoping to enjoy an even listening to beautiful symphony music but there were too many other things going on. Don't get me wrong, when the symphony played it was beautiful. Also, there was a screaming infant in the auditorium and someone behind us taking flash photos. Neither should be allowed. I would like to attend other performances however this one missed the mark for me.

  • Amazing music

by Johoove on 11/10/15North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

Such a beautiful concert. This was the second concert of the North Charleston Pops I have attended and they never disappoint. There is always something for everyone.

  • Music of John Williams

by Mancinifan on 9/17/15North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

Once again North Charleston Pops excelled, and Maestro Nick Palmer proved his worth as a consummate director of timeless popular music.

  • John Williams flash to the past!

by eojakoozab on 9/15/15North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

Loved it! The conductor was humorous and the orchestra was magnificent as they performed classic pieces from 1980s and 1990s movies. What a throwback to my childhood and teenage years!

  • Excellent Symphony!

by Tinkerbell29412 on 9/15/15North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 4 out of 5

The John Williams Concert was the perfect opportunity to expose our 7 year old to his first symphony. He had recently watched ET and he was already familiar with Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Superman. Superman was not advertised but was a nice addition to the expected lineup. We were disappointed, however, that Jurassic Park was advertised but not performed. I loved my years in concert band and I enjoyed pointing out the flute players to my son. He enjoyed seeing the Storm Troopers and R2D2 at the show. The magic performed during Harry Potter was also a nice touch. All in all, the concert was entertaining and worth the ticket price. I know that these folks work hard to get these shows ready and I appreciate their dedication.

  • Excellent performance

by Anon843 on 9/15/15North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

The NCPs opened the season just like they closed last year. Great music choices, nice theatrics with the magician and star wars characters, an enthusiastic conductor, and a solid performance by the musicians. I will be attending future concerts for sure.

A lot of fun. The Charleston Pops did a great job, and they also looked like they were enjoying themselves as well. It's great that they are allowing everyone to enjoy these new "modern classical" pieces.

  • Enjoyable Fare

by TouristCouple on 4/19/15North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 4 out of 5

We were visiting Charleston for a long weekend, and had an open Saturday evening, so decided to try this Pops concert. We've always liked Henry Mancini's music (who hasn't?). The selections were quite good, and pretty well performed. I would just say that the orchestra is, I think, a little below top quality--not so much as to detract, but noticeable, nonetheless.

  • Mancini Magic

by Mancinifan on 4/14/15North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North CharlestonRating: 5 out of 5

The entire performance was magnificent, the orchestra's interpretation of Mancini's distinctive music flawless. Never having previously attended a PAC concert, I was particularly impressed by the warmth and intimacy created in such a large venue. Much of this is attributable to the sincere and gracious manner in which maestro Nick Palmer acknowledged orchestra soloists, and even stage-hands, for their contributions.

Really fantastic concert!! Loved the new conductor. Several terrific performers but especially piano player (female) and guest trombonist.
