Had a great time at the Norman Brown concert. He threw down as well as Tim Bowman! Will definitely go see him again when he comes back
Tim Bowman showed and shared a lot of appreciation to his return home, his roots. Detroit showed up to see their own. Tim and his son along with saxophonist, Randy Scott were exceptional. Feature artist or headliner, Norman Brown did not disappoint. The entire concert was spectacular and I have already told my friends and family that I would have had NO problem at all paying $200 per ticket. It was well worth it and an experience I will never forget.
The seat I had was great great view. However there was a leak in the roof that leaked right on top of me made my experience terrible.
Hell-lava Guitarist! Amazing mastery of his instrument. No end in sight for wanting him to stop playing, Loved it!
It rained, I could only purchase lawn seating. I will
You miss a great show Tim Bowman started us off with a great performance and Norman Brown brought us home.
My husband is actually the fan. This was my 2nd time seeing him now I’m a true fan! He plays the guitar very soulful & with passion! I enjoyed his old & new selections along with the varied background! He has a wonderful sound & I love it!!!
One of the best performances I've seen, electrifying and worth seeing again.
Thought it was an exceptional concert. The atmosphere was mellow. the sound and the acoustics were great. Norman Brown played his butt off. Wish the concert could have been a little longer. Overall were satisfied.
It was great to see Norman’s performance after 30 years. But I didn’t enjoy it. Why? I’m glad you asked, the sound was horrible. Unbalanced and grainy. The sound engineer missed the mark on this one. All you could hear from the supporting cast was base drum, bass guitar, the backing vocals and grainy lead guitar that was the primary melodic voice (which should have been clear and fat sounding) I only heard keys when Norman introduced them. So needless to say, I didn’t enjoy hearing a Granny award winning musician that I’ve personally shared the stage with sound like he was playing through gear that would be associated with a garage band…This is my 3rd time attending a concert there and all the others were enjoyable. Who ever the front of house engineer was for this event, did not do the Artist nor the venue any good. It was great to see Norman but if this is the new sound standard for the venue. I’ll have to attend elsewhere.
Frankly I was shocked. The back up singers couldn’t sing their company band wasn’t very talented. It appears that no one did a sound check at the Harrison opera House because the acoustics were horrible. His arrangement, and Steve’s presentation was the weakest I’ve ever seen for pro. Norman Brown is one of the premier guitars in jazz. I would have thought have the air apparent to George Bezos thrown upon Vincent’s retirement. His musical Director should be terminated. But ultimately he is the leader and he is solely responsible for that woe performance. He too needs to work on his stage craft and how talented professionals to back him up. I will still continue to buy his CDs because he is master technician. He must improve his stage Presentation or remain in the studio. I couldn’t have been more disappointed.
This experience was plotted and planned for a romantic date night one month in advance.
Great show from beginning to end. Norman is a master guitarist! Norman came on stage ready to play and he never let up. He wowed us by playing music from some of the greats and brought it home Norman Brown style!
Though show was about 1/2 hour late starting, it was good of Norman Brown to let the audience know why he was late and to also apologize for the lateness. After doing so, he definitely set out to make everyone forget about it and pump it up he did. The energy that Norman Brown had was infectious! It set a tone for a good time and like so many in the room, we were grooving to the music. Loved how he paid tribute to some memorable past guitarists by adding in/playing their tunes and ensuring audience knew who he was honoring. Overall "quite nice" and would certainly see him again.
This was my first-time seeing Norman Brown perform live. The show was slightly delayed but otherwise, it was a nice show.
First. This wasn't our first time seeing Norman Brown. Saw him twice in less than a year. He puts on a fantastic show. His band is awesome. They are all great working together. Yes i would go see them again. I feel like he is a spiritual being & gives very positive messages during the show.
Norman Brown is a great jazz guitarists and his band was real tight, but the sound engineering was terrible, the sound quality makes a great concert
His show started about 35 minutes late I was not happy about that. But the performance was good, he played a lot of songs that I was familiar with.
This was my first time at the Berks Jazz Festival in Reading, PA, but i assure you it will not be my last. Everything about it was top shelf. From the venue to the performances. Norman Brown on Saturday night was excellent. The brunch on Sunday could rank as one of the best performances i have ever attended. The ushers were some of the best i have ever had the pleasure of encountering. It is apparent that this event has been going on for years, because they do it without any flaws whatsoever. Bravo to the Berks Jezz Festival!
The show was absolutely amazing. The venue was great. I look forward to seeing him perform again.
