  • Norman is Always Amazing - But the Sound Quality Was Off

by Melrose on 9/14/22Akron Civic Theatre - AkronRating: 3 out of 5

This was not our first-time seeing Norman Brown. He always puts on an amazing show. However, the sound system at the Akron Civic Center was off that night. Microphones not working, lots of loud pitch noises from feedback. It was sadly not as enjoyable as we hoped.

  • Disappointed

by JZ on 9/14/22Akron Civic Theatre - AkronRating: 1 out of 5

Don’t know if it was the band instrument settings or Civic Theater but the sound quality was awful. Also, not the Norman Brown I am used to while streaming. Left halfway through the set.

Hubbs Groove Band was the opener and they are a good band and female singer was wonderful. Norman Brown and band put on a great show. They had issues with the sound but they were working on it. The music was a bit loud or maybe I’m just getting old. The theatre had plenty of helpful workers and security. The bar staff was very friendly. I really enjoy the parking decks being free on the weekends as well. It’s very nice not to have to drive to Cleveland for good jazz concerts.

  • Norman Brown performance

by GC on 8/24/22Iroquois Amphitheater - LouisvilleRating: 3 out of 5

Norman Brown played well, but his sound system was much, much too Loud!!! You really couldn't understand any lyrics he or his background performers were saying. The gentleman next to us flagged down an Event Staff worker and requested for him to relay a word about the sound system being too loud! After Norman Brown finished his performance, you could hear the speakers ringing without anyone playing anything, and several people around us left to stand outside the seating area because they thought it would be too loud for the next performer (Euge Groove). The Event Staff worker must have gone backstage to let them know about it because Euge Groove had excellent sound during his turn on stage. Other than that particular act, the concert was pretty nice.

by Nitchie on 8/8/22The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

I enjoy seeing Norman Brown anytime he comes to Detroit!!!! I make a point of getting my tickets early so I can get a up close and personal approach to his performances!!! This concert was full of his favorites and some new music from his recently released CD - Let's Get Away, but the latest CDs he has made, Let It Go, Heart to Heart, and my all-time favorite----The Highest Act of Love---every cut on that CD is unique and serves all of my listening pleasures!!!! My favorite songs are Words of Wisdom and Don't Make Me Wait!!! His revisiting of Jimmi Hendrix, George Benson and others really brought and showed his musical talent and brought the audience to their feet!!!! Great show, great musical message!!!

  • great evening!

  • Rain or Shine, The Show Must Go On!

by Bev Ann on 8/8/22The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre - DetroitRating: 4 out of 5

I thought the Norman Brown Concert at The Aretha would be CANCELED DUE TO THE SEVERE STORM, but, "Rain or Shine, The Show Must Go On" and that's exactly what happened! Once the weather started to ease up, I arrived at 8:30 P.M. and Tom Browne, Melanie Fiona and NORMAN BROWN were definitely ELECTRIFYING AS A THUNDER STORM! Great Show!!

  • Good but not his best.

I’ve seen Norman Brown several times previously. He happens to be one of my favorite jazz artist. His performance Wednesday was not his best. Something was a little off.
