  • Eric Darius was hot!

by ChocolateStar on 8/24/09Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - MabletonRating: 5 out of 5

I originally purchase tickets out of being a fan of Norman Brown, Euge Groove, and Wayman Tisdale. However, I was blown away by Eric Darious. I know of him and his music but had never seen him live.

  • Norman Brown Summer Storm

by Dead on 8/24/09Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - MabletonRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent show!!! Been awhile since we actually went to a "concert". Brian Simpson, Euge Groove, and Norman Brown all had their own set, and was able to do their own thing. Brian Simpson kicked it off and what a ride. He did most of his big hits and I love that. From that point on all the other acts seen to try and out do the other. PRICELESS!!!!

  • Norman Brown

by betrose on 8/24/09Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - MabletonRating: 5 out of 5

I really enjoyed the concert overall, but was disappointed with Norman Brown not being able to put on a whole show. He said that Mable House was going to turn off the music at 10:45 if he was not done with his show. The vendue was a problem with the time constraint for the main act(Norman Brown).

  • Summer storm was accurate

by GeorgiaJazzfan on 8/24/09Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - MabletonRating: 5 out of 5

All the artists were excellent, particularly Euge Groove. The band were tight and balanced audience participation and playing well. The only blemish was the venue's logistical msimanagement.......specifically access to seating and the "curfew". The gates didn't open until 7pm, the published starting time. Euge Groove's mic was cut off and Norman seemed rushed to begin his session. Again, the music was wonderful.

  • Eric Darius was wibderful....

by jusrdn on 8/24/09Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - MabletonRating: 5 out of 5

It was a good show, great location need more events at that location, weather was gorgeous... I would have like to have seen on the curtain behind the performers a photo that stayed up there the whole time of Waymon Tinsdale.. it was a tribute to him i wished some of the performers would have played some of his music... At the jazz festival in fla. they played some of Luther Vandross stuff as a tribute it was unforgetable but other than those 2 things it was a wonderful night with wonderful performers!!!

  • Euge Groove Stole the Show

by JazzLover2009 on 8/24/09Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - MabletonRating: 4 out of 5

It was a great show. The artists were superb, but the gates did not open until 7:00 p.m. And they cut Euge Groove's set in the middle of his song because they were running late because the gates opened late. Although it was a good show, it seemed to be rushed.

  • Norman Brown & "The Gang"

by Overtime on 8/24/09Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - MabletonRating: 5 out of 5

Fantastic. The entire show was tops. Norm Brown is always good and he puts on a show. But even more important, so did the two opening acts. The two opening acts were just great. You could not ask for more at a jazz concert except for more time. Even the weather cooperated with a gentle breeze. The only thing missing was Dave Kosch. We send our thoughts and prayers out to him for whatever it was that kept him from being there. Now for the venue. Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre is a well kept secret from some. This venue is wonderful. We love it and will definitely attend other events at that location.

  • A Summer Storm blew into Mableton, Ga. last night.

by AlabamaJazzFan on 8/23/09Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - MabletonRating: 5 out of 5

The Mablehouse Amphitheater was filled with the great sounds of smooth jazz last night. Brian Simpson opened the show and got the crowd going off to a great start. Euge Groove really got the crown on their feet and had a contest for the women to shake their "Badonkadonk" for one of his T-shirts. He came into the crowd blowing his sax for all it was worth. The problem with his show was the sound folks cut him short in the middle of his last song. The timing of the show was bad from the start as the evening performances started 30 minutes late. Norman Brown took the stage and got the party kicked into high gear. He introduced the Hotlanta crowd to Eric Darius who played his heart out on alto saxophone. The concert timing folks did it to Norman, as they cut his last song short, and turned off his and Eric's microphones promptly at 10:30. The evening was perfect; perfect weather, perfect music, and everyone was left wanting more. As always, the Mablehouse was a fine place to spend an evening enjoying some of the best sounds in smooth jazz.

  • Loved Eric Darius and Norman Brown!

  • Summer Storm was great!

by Cacaboo on 8/23/09Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - MabletonRating: 5 out of 5

I loved it! This was my first time at the Maple House Barnes Amphitheater and my husband and I loved It! We had lawn tickets but, my husband said definately next time we will be a lot closer. Very nice venue. Liked the arrangement. It was great!!

  • Concert was great!!

by Lump2b on 8/23/09Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - MabletonRating: 4 out of 5

It started out on a bad note because the gates were supposed to open at 6 pm but it didn't open until 6:50. This caused the concert to start late. We had lawn seats which were nice but they need to get rid of all of the ant mounds on the lawn. Ants were crawling on peoples blankets. The concert was fantastic. All of the performers were great and put on a fantastic show for the crowd. We were disappointed because the venue cut Norman Brown's show short. Since the show started late, they should have let him finish.

  • Norman Brown was badly scheduled

by SmthJazzer on 8/23/09Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - MabletonRating: 3 out of 5

The music was great and it's always good to see live smooth jazzz in Atlanta, there's nothing better. But this event had scheduling and logistics problems. It was scheduled to start at 7pm, there were many people arriving at 6pm and after so they could be early when the gates normally open 1 hr before an event. But something happened and the gates never opened until 10mins before show time! So this meant the show was delayed. As the show went on, the artists were forced to shorten their sets due to the late start, Euge Groove had to cut his set very awkwardly and the Norman Brown had less that 60 mins to perform! So bad logistics by someone all around.

  • Awesome Concert

by Kbace on 8/23/09Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - MabletonRating: 4 out of 5

The concert was the best that I've attended this year. Brian Simpson, Euge Groove, Eric Darius and Norman Brown were all excellent. The weather was perfect, the people were friendly, the venue was great and the music sounded perfect. Even the parking was free. This was a great concert. There was only one negative thing about the concert - they actually cut the power on the artists when they were playing too long. I don't know if Mableton has a curfew, but they are going to have to rethink having an amphitheater for major acts if they are going to use that limited "small town" mentality.

  • Brown to loud for smooth jazz

by asaskyman on 8/23/09Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - MabletonRating: 3 out of 5

Brian Simpson and Euge Groove were awesome, but for a smooth jazz concert Norman Brown was way too loud. We were among servral people who left early due to the high decibels.

  • Jazz at It's smoothest!!!

by Crewchief on 8/23/09Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - MabletonRating: 4 out of 5

Greta performances hampered by atrocious venue entry process. Having one entrance staffed by two people was totally bush league!

  • A wonderful Wayman Tisdale tribute

by Jimina on 8/23/09Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - MabletonRating: 4 out of 5

This was a very high energy concert! Euge Groove gave an awesome performance. Brian Simpson and Norman Brown gave great opening and closing acts. The only complaint was that it wasn't long enough. Norman Brown ended the show with a medley that seemed just a tad bit rushed. I think maybe the concert was running over just a little bit since the show had a late start.

  • Jazz Concert at Mablehouse in Georgia on 8/22/09

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! It was simply AWESOME!!!! The artists put on an excellent show, and I definitely got my monies worth. Brian Simpson was FABULOUS!!!!, Euge Groove was INCREDIBLE!!!!, and Norman Brown and Eric Darius were TOO FUNKY FOR WORDS....I am a Smooth Jazz listener and follower.... I attend most of the Jazz shows in Atlanta, and anywhere else my favorite artists are playing....Sometimes I travel with my job and you better know if there is a Smooth Jazz concert going on, .....I am there!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love all the Smooth Jazz series The venue is one of the nicest in comparison to Chastain Park

  • New Fan of Brian Simon

by StarNight on 8/23/09Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - MabletonRating: 5 out of 5

I love the Mable House venue located in Mableton Ga. This is the second time seeing Norman Brown there. It was a perfect night and Norman was great! It was my first time seeing Brian Simon, he was awesome. I purchased his cd. I couldn't believe he stayed all night autographing his cd's, just a warm guy. Euge Groove added to the night by being a fun and talented entertainer. We wanted more time to see Eric Darius to entertain us but time didn't allow it to happen. He was high energy leaving us wanting more. Maybe we can make the cruise with these great guys in 2011. That would be awesome!

  • Norman Brown at the Maple House

by jlson on 8/23/09Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - MabletonRating: 4 out of 5

Music was great. Location and atmosphere were awesome. One small quibble: Norman Brown had to cut his performance short due to the longer performance of one of the opening acts. I believe that this was because of a local curfew ordinance. Other than that, we would go again.
