This was a very high energy concert! Euge Groove gave an awesome performance. Brian Simpson and Norman Brown gave great opening and closing acts. The only complaint was that it wasn't long enough. Norman Brown ended the show with a medley that seemed just a tad bit rushed. I think maybe the concert was running over just a little bit since the show had a late start.
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! It was simply AWESOME!!!! The artists put on an excellent show, and I definitely got my monies worth. Brian Simpson was FABULOUS!!!!, Euge Groove was INCREDIBLE!!!!, and Norman Brown and Eric Darius were TOO FUNKY FOR WORDS....I am a Smooth Jazz listener and follower.... I attend most of the Jazz shows in Atlanta, and anywhere else my favorite artists are playing....Sometimes I travel with my job and you better know if there is a Smooth Jazz concert going on, .....I am there!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love all the Smooth Jazz series The venue is one of the nicest in comparison to Chastain Park
I love the Mable House venue located in Mableton Ga. This is the second time seeing Norman Brown there. It was a perfect night and Norman was great! It was my first time seeing Brian Simon, he was awesome. I purchased his cd. I couldn't believe he stayed all night autographing his cd's, just a warm guy. Euge Groove added to the night by being a fun and talented entertainer. We wanted more time to see Eric Darius to entertain us but time didn't allow it to happen. He was high energy leaving us wanting more. Maybe we can make the cruise with these great guys in 2011. That would be awesome!
Music was great. Location and atmosphere were awesome. One small quibble: Norman Brown had to cut his performance short due to the longer performance of one of the opening acts. I believe that this was because of a local curfew ordinance. Other than that, we would go again.
Norman Brown and company came to Mableton , Ga and rocked the Mable House Barnes venue. Brian Simpson started the night with some incredible keyboard playing that got the fans going and wanting more. Brian's pick-up band of Atlanta locals was awesome and made this reviewer wonder if this group will perform again. Euge Groove was huge as usual and kept the crowd on their feet with tunes from his latest CD as well as old favorites. The live version of Chillaxin' sent the fans into overdrive and a dance contest for the lady with the best (bottom) brought several ladies up to the front to show off their assets. Finally, Norman Brown came out with a high-powered act that featured many guest artist like Eric Darius and Gail Johnson. Brown generously gave each guest a spotlight performance. Although he did not play all the favorites that the fans were expecting due to the late start of the show, it was a great night out under the stars.
The show was great, however, Euge Groove performed longer than Norman Brown and he was the headliner. That is my only disappointment along with the having to wait to be seated at Mabelhouse. The sound is a lot better than Chastain but Mabel House cannot touch Chastain's ambience. Overrall I would grade A-
This was an exciting event not only Norman Brown but the artist before him. Thank you for coming to Atl with the Quiet Storm tour. I'm glad I didn't miss this one!
Although I would have preferred to hear more Wayman tunes as the event suggested, it was still a very good show and the artists did not disappoint, doing what they do best, putting on a great show.
Norman, Start your performances with your material. You've got great stuff! Are you kidding me? After the Storm, Out of Nowhere, or Just between us. Stop treating your guest in a subservient manner. Do you see Jimmy Page praising ANY guest that perform with him? Nothing wrong with thanking them and acknowledging their talent. YOUR THE STAR! Please come back to Chicago
Always a fan of a Normal Brown show, this one was even better with the expected addition of Eric Darius and the surprise addition of Alex Bugnon. Great show, great energy, great crowd! The House of Blues is not my favorite jazz venue, but the energy in the room made up for the lack of comfort. That and the sweet potato fries are great!
Loved the concert. Will definitely, see him again when he returns to Chicago.
The Concert was very nice and he displayed a lot of energy and really entertained the audience. I would say that the only problem was that the scheduled start time was 7p.m and the concert did not actually start until 8:30p.m. A very long wait time and there was no communication from staff to let us know anything but it was worth seeing one of the great Jazz Guitarist of our generation.
I enjoyed the concert. The only thing is the show started after 8 p.m., when I expected it to start on time, at 7. Also, it ended too soon. Before 10 p.m.. It was nice but ended too soon. Didn't get to hear some of my favorite cuts.
The Norman Brown summer storm tour was smoking hot! He started the show off with a tribute to Wayman Tisdale. Eric Darius, turned the show out with an Alicia Keys tune and finally, Patti Austin, is so cool and classy! She looks fabuleous!!!
The concert was great. We really did enjoy the music
Great concert , but the sound system crew for Norman was not professional. The concert is supposed to start at 7:30, but they are running around doing mic checks. When the concert finally started (8pm), his mic wasn't loud enough. They had to constantly make adjustments. Norman kept apologizing for them. Other than that the concert was
I would give it 3 thumbs up out of 5.......the best part of the show was when Eric Darrius came out and did an Alicia Keys Song...that was awesome......He was in the crowd...interacting with the crowd, giving Hi Fives.....Patti Austin only sang on of her songs the rest were by other artist...I felt that Norman Brown Didnt really give his all...Maybe because of the technical difficulties but it could have been better...I've seen him before and his other shows were better
Norman Brown, Patti austin and Eric Darius put on a great high energy show
Norman Brown, Eric Darius, and Patty Austin were fantastic!! Norman was as smooth as always, Eric tore up the place with his energy (loved the red shirt), and Patty was as elegant and beautiful as ever!! Great job!!
