  • Stormin' Norman takes it to the House!!

by Alanta on 8/23/09Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - MabletonRating: 4 out of 5

Norman Brown and company came to Mableton , Ga and rocked the Mable House Barnes venue. Brian Simpson started the night with some incredible keyboard playing that got the fans going and wanting more. Brian's pick-up band of Atlanta locals was awesome and made this reviewer wonder if this group will perform again. Euge Groove was huge as usual and kept the crowd on their feet with tunes from his latest CD as well as old favorites. The live version of Chillaxin' sent the fans into overdrive and a dance contest for the lady with the best (bottom) brought several ladies up to the front to show off their assets. Finally, Norman Brown came out with a high-powered act that featured many guest artist like Eric Darius and Gail Johnson. Brown generously gave each guest a spotlight performance. Although he did not play all the favorites that the fans were expecting due to the late start of the show, it was a great night out under the stars.

  • Needed more of Stormin Norman

by traceedee1 on 8/23/09Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - MabletonRating: 4 out of 5

The show was great, however, Euge Groove performed longer than Norman Brown and he was the headliner. That is my only disappointment along with the having to wait to be seated at Mabelhouse. The sound is a lot better than Chastain but Mabel House cannot touch Chastain's ambience. Overrall I would grade A-

  • Must see

by LadyTyb21 on 8/23/09Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - MabletonRating: 4 out of 5

This was an exciting event not only Norman Brown but the artist before him. Thank you for coming to Atl with the Quiet Storm tour. I'm glad I didn't miss this one!

  • Tribute to Wayman

by Urbanjazz on 8/23/09Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre - MabletonRating: 4 out of 5

Although I would have preferred to hear more Wayman tunes as the event suggested, it was still a very good show and the artists did not disappoint, doing what they do best, putting on a great show.

  • Constructive Criticism

by gmarz on 8/18/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Norman, Start your performances with your material. You've got great stuff! Are you kidding me? After the Storm, Out of Nowhere, or Just between us. Stop treating your guest in a subservient manner. Do you see Jimmy Page praising ANY guest that perform with him? Nothing wrong with thanking them and acknowledging their talent. YOUR THE STAR! Please come back to Chicago

  • Great Show! Surprise guests too!

by LSII on 8/18/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Always a fan of a Normal Brown show, this one was even better with the expected addition of Eric Darius and the surprise addition of Alex Bugnon. Great show, great energy, great crowd! The House of Blues is not my favorite jazz venue, but the energy in the room made up for the lack of comfort. That and the sweet potato fries are great!

  • Norman Brown was Great

by BigPappy11 on 8/17/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

The Concert was very nice and he displayed a lot of energy and really entertained the audience. I would say that the only problem was that the scheduled start time was 7p.m and the concert did not actually start until 8:30p.m. A very long wait time and there was no communication from staff to let us know anything but it was worth seeing one of the great Jazz Guitarist of our generation.

  • nice

by yaris on 8/17/09House of Blues Chicago - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

I enjoyed the concert. The only thing is the show started after 8 p.m., when I expected it to start on time, at 7. Also, it ended too soon. Before 10 p.m.. It was nice but ended too soon. Didn't get to hear some of my favorite cuts.

  • norman brown summer storm was smokin hot!!

    by blkmaewest13 on 7/20/09Chene Park - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

The Norman Brown summer storm tour was smoking hot! He started the show off with a tribute to Wayman Tisdale. Eric Darius, turned the show out with an Alicia Keys tune and finally, Patti Austin, is so cool and classy! She looks fabuleous!!!

  • Norman Brown

    by bear4792 on 7/18/09Chene Park - DetroitRating: 4 out of 5

Great concert , but the sound system crew for Norman was not professional. The concert is supposed to start at 7:30, but they are running around doing mic checks. When the concert finally started (8pm), his mic wasn't loud enough. They had to constantly make adjustments. Norman kept apologizing for them. Other than that the concert was

  • Norman Brown

by Mzteedee on 7/17/09Chene Park - DetroitRating: 3 out of 5

I would give it 3 thumbs up out of 5.......the best part of the show was when Eric Darrius came out and did an Alicia Keys Song...that was awesome......He was in the crowd...interacting with the crowd, giving Hi Fives.....Patti Austin only sang on of her songs the rest were by other artist...I felt that Norman Brown Didnt really give his all...Maybe because of the technical difficulties but it could have been better...I've seen him before and his other shows were better

  • Norman and the Summer Storm

Norman Brown, Patti austin and Eric Darius put on a great high energy show

  • Norman Brown Concert was great!!

by LadyDay on 7/17/09Chene Park - DetroitRating: 4 out of 5

Norman Brown, Eric Darius, and Patty Austin were fantastic!! Norman was as smooth as always, Eric tore up the place with his energy (loved the red shirt), and Patty was as elegant and beautiful as ever!! Great job!!

  • Eric Darius and Norman Brown

by Kweeny on 7/16/09Chene Park - DetroitRating: 3 out of 5

Could not hear any of Norman's guitar...fire all the roadies and sound crew on that night...no excuse good enough for the poor quality. Eric Rocked the house and Patti should just retire.

  • The best kind of Summer Storm!

    by Duchess2424 on 7/16/09Chene Park - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

Stormin' Norman was everything I expected and more. Eric Darius was incredible on the sax, and Patti made me want to get up and dance. Excellent show!

  • Too many sound problems!

by Zake on 7/16/09Chene Park - DetroitRating: 3 out of 5

This event was okay. I'd definitely recommend it to other people but that doesn't excuse the fact that 80 percent of the show was disturbed by trying to figure out the constant sound problems. I couldn't hear Norman Brown's guitar as clearly as I have been able to hear guitars in past concerts at Chene Park. One of my favorite moments was when the man who played the saxophone played and especially when he went out into the auidience. It was like we all went wild. Even though there was a lot of technical difficulty, it never got in the way of the overall atmosphere that Norman Brown and his band created for the audience. I can't wait to go to the next concert at Chene Park; they're GREAT!

  • Norman, Eric , and Patty Dynamic Trio

by bugface on 7/16/09Chene Park - DetroitRating: 4 out of 5

Norman Brown has alway been one of my favorite entertainers. I rate him right up there with George Benson (well at least a close second). Adding Eric Darius, whom I rate right along with the great sax masters (especially the late Art Porter), was a perfect fit. These guys really know how to work the stage and engage their audience. Every song is upbeat and NEW school, jazz with a new flavor. So sad that Wayman Tisdale passed but Patty Austin (Classy Patty or the second coming of "The Baby" for those of you who don't know of whom I reference, Nancy Wilson) stepped right up to the plate and hit a home run with her vocal renditions. Anyway what I really enjoyed is their performances together. Unlike other concerts where you're really worn out before the head act comes on, they melded into a complete jam session

  • Norman Brown and Friends

by LexieGurl on 7/16/09Chene Park - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

This was an awesome show! Norman was hot and his friends, Patti Austin, Eric Darius and keyboardist Gail Johnson made the session great. Grooved the entire evening. However, my husband was waiting for "Pops Cool Groove" which was not played, the only dissapointment of the night.
