About

Nish Kumar is a British stand-up comedian, television presenter, political commentator and podcast host. As a critically acclaimed comic (and internationally famed meme), Kumar’s work is “a masterclass by a no-frills stand-up at the height of his powers,” as noted by The Guardian in 2015. Two of his comedy shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe were nominated for the prestigious Comedy Award for Best Show in both 2015 and 2016. Kumar is also a familiar face and voice when it comes to both television and radio, having hosted his own satirical news series, including The Mash Report for BBC Two, Hello America for Quibi and Joel & Nish vs The World, the latter a six-part travelog for Comedy Central. Kumar has hosted various shows for BBC Radio 4, including Spotlight Tonight With Nish Kumar, The News Quiz and Newsjack. He has co-hosted the podcast Pod Save the UK since May 2023. When it comes to performing live, Kumar has appeared at several iconic festivals and events, including the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, New Zealand Comedy Festival, Leicester Comedy Festival and the comedy tent at the Latitude Festival.

  • A Necessary Voice (Bleeped Three Times)

by Jalapeño Cheese Bread on 3/9/25The Atlantis - WashingtonRating: 5 out of 5

The show was incredible! Both the opener Amy Annette (who was great at crowdwork) and Nish himself (master of the well-worked callback) did an incredible job. His voice is so necessary in difficult times because he says some things that others aren't willing to say out loud, and he could just leave it at that and let it be a show of edgy comedy. But he doesn't leave it at that. He contextualizes his feelings with heart, warmth, love, compassion, and the appropriately frustrated resignation of someone who has been paying attention to the world and let down by it in equal measure. For all the seriousness of the material, his wit, charm, and genuine humor shine through. I can't recommend this show enough. Also, if Nish ever reads this, the answer to your set list question is, "if there's cake in the fridge, then before 'Death'."

  • Great show!

Nish does not disappoint! How did he manage to do an early AND late show? I was exhausted by 9:30. The Bell House was awesome as always.
