About

Nine Inch Nails are a progressive, Grammy-winning industrial rock band composed of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. Formed in Cleveland, Ohio as a solo project for singer, songwriter and producer Trent Reznor in 1988, Nine Inch Nails have released 11 studio albums, six EPs and three remix albums, starting with 1989’s Pretty Hate Machine and breakout debut singles “Down In It” and “Head Like a Hole.” For 1992’s Broken EP, NIN reached No. 7 on the Billboard 200 while its standout record “Wish” won the Grammy for Best Metal Performance. In the midst of hitting No. 2 and No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for 1994’s The Downward Spiral and 1999’s The Fragile, respectively, NIN released Hot 100-charting singles “Closer” and “The Perfect Drug” and earned a second Best Metal Performance Grammy at the 1996 ceremony for “Happiness in Slavery.” Nine Inch Nails went on hiatus until the 2005 chart-topper With Teeth, then hit the Hot 100 again with singles “The Hand That Feeds” and “Only,” and later with “Survivalism" from their 2007 follow-up Year Zero. Longtime collaborator and English producer Atticus Ross became an official member of NIN in 2016, established with a trilogy of releases culminating in 2018’s Bad Witch. As composers, the duo have earned two Academy Awards, two Grammys and one Emmy. In 2020, Nine Inch Nails were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. NIN also composed the score for the 2025 film Tron: Ares.

  • The Perfect Show

by RecoveredMoJo on 7/13/09Santa Barbara Bowl - Santa BarbaraRating: 5 out of 5

While a Nine Inch Nails fan, this show was custom made for a Jane's Addiction devotee. Having seen Jane's Addiction NUMEROUS times, I was bowled over by the sheer perfection of song choice- seamless, mood shaping, the visuals: how much cooler can one get than Natural Born Killers, and most of all the return of Eric Avery. For those who change the station when they hear the first strains of"Jane Says' the closing was a reintroduction to a most brilliantly simple song. Dave Navarro's intro reinforced his six-stringed genius, and Stephen Perkins never banged badly on a kettle drum. The venue itself is so situated, that I could almost feel a spiritual resonance within the Santa Barbara hills. All this with almost five years clean and sober- that's how I know it was for real!

  • Trent should have retired after lollapalooza

by DjmoFunk on 7/13/09Journal Pavilion - AlbuquerqueRating: 2 out of 5

NIN sounded tired and had almost no stage show or presence. JA was strange to the point of being a little scary, he yelled out "Hello Santa Fe!"... the concert was held in Albuquerque NM. It was sad to see two of my favorite bands fallen to something so low.

  • Good Times!

by heathieb on 7/13/09Santa Barbara Bowl - Santa BarbaraRating: 4 out of 5

NIN & Janes Addiction were great! Their shows were exciting and fun! Anyone that has followed or every enjoyed their songs would have had a great time. Although we sat at the very back we could still see everything and the music was great! If you get an opportunity to see them, do it!

  • Felt like seeing them back at the 1st Lollapalooza

by StacyG on 7/13/09Santa Barbara Bowl - Santa BarbaraRating: 5 out of 5

Felt like seeing them back at the 1st Lollapalooza but of course at the 1st Lollapalooza I was under age.

  • NINJA Tour

by Saraha1969 on 7/13/09Santa Barbara Bowl - Santa BarbaraRating: 5 out of 5

This was a great concert. I have been wanting to see NIN and Jane's Addiction for years. The venue was awesome, but not very much parking, get there early. Also, I would have liked to see NIN at night to really appreciate the full lighting effects of the show. Other than that, great show. When can I go again???

  • NIN rocked oldschool

by mickeybeans on 7/13/09Journal Pavilion - AlbuquerqueRating: 5 out of 5

The whole show was amazing. Trent Reznor's voice hasnt changed a bit and they played all the old favs. Janes Addiction was GREAT. what this country needs is more steel drum.

  • NIN was amazing live!

by jon28 on 7/13/09Santa Barbara Bowl - Santa BarbaraRating: 5 out of 5

Seeing NIN live for the first time was incredible. They played alot of deep cuts on this tour but still finished with fan favorites Head like a Hole and Hurt. I know NIN is going away for while but I cant wait to see them again.

  • backstage goodness

what can i say? I got to have a great conversation with Trent Reznor. It was a blast.

  • NIN=amazing, Janes just ok

by natalias808 on 7/12/09Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre - Chula VistaRating: 4 out of 5

NIN KILLED IT!!! Trent gave us all he had, however, I took away one star because of Janes. I've seen them many times and they just didn't have what they used to. Perry was great as always but Dave looked like he didn't want to be there and never made it to (stage) left. Nonetheless, I'd see this show again if I could.

  • janes ROCKED!

by fatty on 7/12/09Santa Barbara Bowl - Santa BarbaraRating: 5 out of 5

  • NIN was amazing!

by Ninband on 7/12/09Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Even with seats in the rear of the theater, this concert was amazing. I wasn't a huge Jane's Addiction fan but they put on a great show.

  • NIN and Jane's Addiction...AMAZING!

by LostAggressive on 7/12/09Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

This show was by far the best I've seen. Trent Reznor never disappoints. The set list was phenomenal, and he brought it with the energy and intensity that I have come to expect from NIN. Jane's Addiction was spectacular. Also an amazing set list. Combined with such a small intimate venue, this was the perfect show.

  • NINJA Rocks

by JOhNNNn on 7/12/09Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre - Chula VistaRating: 5 out of 5

Yah ! hot damn good show. Trent and crew were great. Nice and loud. Jane and crew were good too. I went for NIN and my wife went for Jane and we both enjoyed the show.

  • AMAZING PERFORMANCE SAD IT WAS OVER!!!!

by 4EVFAN on 7/12/09Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

NIN was amazing as always. Trent and company NEVER let me down. They always give us their all, still heartbroken that this may be their last tour. Maybe! I'm hoping not. Please no???? If so you better hurry IT"S A MUST SEE!!! This band is not only screaming with talent by they are also very dedicated to their fans, which is rare. Jane's Oh my I MISSED YOU SO MUCH. They were AMAZING. As if their music was not enough their stage presence was unforgettable. Perry made love to that stage. The whole band was back where they have always belonged. Perry's interaction with the crowd was amazing, and those disco ball pants. His stories, enthusiasm, and high energy just drew the crowd in. I literally looked like a kid at Christmas, jaw dropped. It was amazing. They put on a show that I will NEVER forget. They left me wanting more, more, more. I can't wait to catch another. YOU MUST MUST SEE BOTH JANES AND NIN.

  • amazing as always

by aeonlapp on 7/12/09Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was great!! even if the smoke was so thick it set off the alarms and made it difficult to see Trent and all his glory. They played all the hits (well not closer) but all and all I was amazing.. Im sad they are not touring anymore. Janes was amazing and I want to see them again... Perry and Dave rocked the house and looked hot as hell.

  • Janes Feat NIN?????

by Donni on 7/12/09Santa Barbara Bowl - Santa BarbaraRating: 4 out of 5

My only real problem with this event is I was under the impression NIN would be the headlining band only to find out closer to the event date that Janes for some reason was going to be playing last. I didnt much enjoy that NINs entire set took place during daylight and might of acted diffrently had I known Janes was headlining from the get go. NIN should open for NOBODY.

  • I LOVE JANE'S ADDICTION!!!!!!

by geets on 7/12/09Santa Barbara Bowl - Santa BarbaraRating: 5 out of 5

Santa Barbara Bowl was very cool and I really went to see Jane's addiction, who was awesome......, but NIN was really good live, too. Had a great time especially since Jane's Addiction hardley ever play shows anymore. LOVED IT!!!!!!!!

  • NIN should have headlined

by bethsbca on 7/12/09Santa Barbara Bowl - Santa BarbaraRating: 3 out of 5

I was really excited about this show and if you are a fan, it won't disappoint. NIN should have been the headliner though -- all my friends and I agreed. They dominated the night. JA was fun, but I soon got tired of Dave Navarro's typical rock dude playing moves and Perry should just shut up and sing. NIN on the other hand, I am now a converted fan after previously thinking they'd be too much of a downer live. Wow. I'd give them 4 stars and JA 3.

  • NIN yea!!! JA what happened?

by chazzinvegas on 7/12/09Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

TRENT AND THE GUYS NEVER DISAPPOINT; SOME OF THE HARDEST WORKING MUSICIANS I'VE EVER SEEN. HOWEVER, I WAS REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING JA. GREAT TO SEE THE ORIGINAL BAND BACK TOGETHER BUT A DISAPPOINTED THEY HAD TO PLAY ALL THE SONGS AT A LOWER REGISTER BECAUSE PERRY JUST CAN'T HIT THE NOTES ANYMORE. REALLY APPRECIATED THE EFFORT THOUGH. STEVEN ALWAYS KEEPS IT TIGHT; DAVE, LEAVE THE GIRLS ALONE AND PLAY YOUR GUITAR!! :))

  • NIN without great hits

by Saddened on 7/12/09Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre - Chula VistaRating: 3 out of 5

When I booked the tickets, i had no idea that Jane's Addiction (a group I am not at all fond of) was the headliner. NIN was advertised all over the place - Ticketmaster, Live Nation, the radio on several stations. Since I really like NIN I was excited and bought tickets. However, NIN played mediocre - without a lot of heart and with none of their greatest hits (like Closer - which was advertised as each radio spot mentioned NIN). It also saddened me - that the group seemed bored with being in San Diego. They never said hello, talked to the crowd, said it was great to be here - or anything. Pretty lame. And i hate saying that about a group I really like. They just didn't have their best concert performance in SD.
