About

Nine Inch Nails are a progressive, Grammy-winning industrial rock band composed of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. Formed in Cleveland, Ohio as a solo project for singer, songwriter and producer Trent Reznor in 1988, Nine Inch Nails have released 11 studio albums, six EPs and three remix albums, starting with 1989’s Pretty Hate Machine and breakout debut singles “Down In It” and “Head Like a Hole.” For 1992’s Broken EP, NIN reached No. 7 on the Billboard 200 while its standout record “Wish” won the Grammy for Best Metal Performance. In the midst of hitting No. 2 and No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for 1994’s The Downward Spiral and 1999’s The Fragile, respectively, NIN released Hot 100-charting singles “Closer” and “The Perfect Drug” and earned a second Best Metal Performance Grammy at the 1996 ceremony for “Happiness in Slavery.” Nine Inch Nails went on hiatus until the 2005 chart-topper With Teeth, then hit the Hot 100 again with singles “The Hand That Feeds” and “Only,” and later with “Survivalism" from their 2007 follow-up Year Zero. Longtime collaborator and English producer Atticus Ross became an official member of NIN in 2016, established with a trilogy of releases culminating in 2018’s Bad Witch. As composers, the duo have earned two Academy Awards, two Grammys and one Emmy. In 2020, Nine Inch Nails were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. NIN also composed the score for the 2025 film Tron: Ares.

  • Great performances

    by MLR0525 on 7/13/09Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre - EnglewoodRating: 5 out of 5

This was the third time I'd seen Nine Inch Nails, but only the first time I'd seen Jane's Addiction. Aside from a rather tepid rendition of "Three Days", they put on a hell of a show. As for Nine Inch Nails, I do wish that their show had changed a little bit through the years (those same lights have been at EVERY performance I've attended; all that's changed somewhat is the setlist), but if you're a fan you definitely won't be disappointed. The opening band was a surprise, too, as apparently it was comprised of Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave members, but the singer really didn't impress too much (sorry for the lack of more specific info but I forgot the band name...).

  • NINja

by tshmonga on 7/13/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 4 out of 5

Minor tailgate, followed by a phenomenal show. SSSC opened up, and was a pleasant surprise. Morello's unique sound brought back fond RATM memories. NIN unexpectedly hit the stage while the sun was still out. I thought they would be the headliner. Much smaller group onstage with Trent, but loaded with intensity. Some of the stage visuals were lost in the low horizon sun. Every song was crisp like it was ripped right off the master recordings. Jane's Addiction came on at dusk, opening with "Three Days" and "Then She Did". They sounded great. I was glad they kept it up tempo and very true to thier rock / alt roots. Perry Farrell did seem to work the crowd a little much with the cliche "how's everone doin" and "we love playin Detroit." A good time was has by all in the extremely eclectic crowd.

  • Wish NIN were headlining

by Chaino on 7/13/09Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre - EnglewoodRating: 4 out of 5

Really liked the show. Never was a fan of Jane's Addiction, but liked them too. It was great to see Navarro. Think that the show would be much better if NIN were headlining - they are always much more intense and impressive.

  • NINJA Tour rocked

by Bildo5 on 7/13/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 5 out of 5

Janes was awesome but Nine Inch Nails was incredible. Only gripe was that the 2 bands are taking turns headlining and Janes headlined the show I went to so NIN's set was short. Neither band did an encore. But still the show was awesome. Sad it may be the last time I ever see either of these bands. IF YOU CAN GET TICKETS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • NIN stole the show

by Tracie71 on 7/13/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 5 out of 5

Both Nine Inch Nails and Jane's Addiction were incredible. The only drawback was that it was still light out when NIN took the stage...very weird.

  • Frustrated!

by NurseMercy on 7/13/09Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre - EnglewoodRating: 3 out of 5

Let me start by saying that Fiddler's has to be one of the worst venues in Denver. The sound system always sucks. But because these are two of my favorite bands I purchased tickets anyway. I was very frustrated to see that NIN had went on first. By the time we got into our seats they were almost half way through their set! Even the tickets showed that NIN was the headliner. Why was it changed??? That blew man.

  • Wonderful Experience

by LAUndergroundPunk on 7/13/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 5 out of 5

I saw Jane's at the Warehouse in Downtown LA as an underground band in 1985 and have loved and followed them ever since. Last show I saw them at was in Kzoo...have always loved Dave Navarro and he amazingly rocked the house. I love what Jane's brought to alternative music and stil real and writhe to their jammin' music. I couldn't have had more fun, except as an adult I have to admit comformity and having longer hair; & a little more professional; but... you cannot de-punkify anyone!! NIN was not quite as spectacular but who can pass up on Reznor- his music is as I have remembered it and listened to it for years but must agree, his music is better suited for the dark with crazy light show going on. Instead it was at sunset, when you would expect Peter Paul and Mary to lull you through Puff the Magic dragon as you sip your Chardonay and smoke your......cigarettes. I had a wonderful nostalgic evening! I would go see them again at Lolopalooza in Chi town, but my parental responsibilities will take precedence that weekend - Peace

  • Bad Promotion

by mystafire on 7/13/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 1 out of 5

It. sucked, Nine inch nails were billed the Headline act and they went on before Janes Addiction. Because of that I missed half of Nine inch nails, If they would of headlined as promoted, i would of seen the whole show and seen them at night not during the day which made their light show suck. Very Very disappointed.

  • Good times, good times

    by Jazz29 on 7/13/09Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre - EnglewoodRating: 5 out of 5

NIN was great, I would see them again. Janes Addiction ROCKED! Perry Farrell is so full of energy and eccentric. He reminded me of Freddie Mercury. Awesome...what a fun show.

  • Janes Addiction

by RobH on 7/13/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 5 out of 5

OutFingstanding!! Ive seen alot of rock shows and work in the entertainment business as a Stage Manager/Audio Tech and this is one of the best looking and sounding high energy rock shows I have ever seen

  • Never Gets Old

by tsundrla on 7/13/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 5 out of 5

I saw my first JA concert 19 years ago, and my first NIN concert 13 years ago...had just as much fun this time around. The boys still rock!

  • NIN was excellent, Jane's Addiction was lame.

by Forkmachine on 7/13/09Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre - EnglewoodRating: 3 out of 5

NIN was excellent as expected, but their time was cut short (and without an encore) due to Jane's Addiction playing last. Despite the amazing musicians that provide the music for Jane's, I was overwhelmingly annoyed by Perry Farrell's voice, mannerisms, segue-ways, and commentary. I left after a few songs, and will certainly not attend another show with any intent to see them in the future.

  • Jane's Addiction

by davepapuga on 7/13/09Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre - EnglewoodRating: 5 out of 5

Best show of the summer by far! So good to see JA doin' it again! Intro was KILLER! Visuals kicked ass! The boys were as on point as ever, and Perry was his usual charming, comical self. Almost didn't go, and so so stoked I did!

  • NIN in daylight???

by aaronaring1 on 7/13/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 4 out of 5

The concert was on a perfect day in a perfect venue. The Street Sweep Social Club was alright, but it was the first time I had heard any thing from them. NIN WAS FANTASTIC!!! Sound was great, the set was good, but the show ran in daylight. I may be crazy and I think that it was respect, but Janes Addiction is not a headliner to NIN. Janes Addiction is better on album, but I knew that going into this concert. They rocked all the hits out, and the set was quite good. T-Shirts were going to 40 bucks which is a bit of a ball buster, but the shirt I got has boobs on it which is great!

  • Jane's was Great

    by nomarg56 on 7/13/09Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre - EnglewoodRating: 5 out of 5

Overall show was good, but I'm not a huge NIN fan. Jane's ruled.

  • NIN/JA was almost good

by Stonepony on 7/13/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 3 out of 5

NIN played their entire set in broad daylight so all mood setting and light show dramatics was thrown out the window. Trent was in fine voice and the band was tight. I expected some surprises but got none with the exception of 'Hurt' which was not played. Jane's was lively and rocking. Perry was in fine form and the band was outstanding. They mostly mined the very early material as if they were paying tribute to their longevity and that was OK. They completely blew off the material from 'Strays' and that was disappointing.

  • NIN went on first??

by nozwhal on 7/13/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 3 out of 5

NIN went on first, played a brief but energetic set then there was the intermission and Jane's Addiction came on...at this point like 1/3 of the crowd left. Those who showed up late and missed most if not all of NIN were a little pissed and they had good reason to be.

  • Class of 1991

by CaptRock on 7/13/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 4 out of 5

In case you missed the first Lollapalooza, (I know many of the audience was too young for that), this Class of 1991 reunion was a perfect opportunity to witness the two most amazing bands of that era. The bands still 'have it' in concert; they rocked so hard, I thought that whiplash from my head-banging would knock my head off.

  • Worst NIN show ever seen...

by ender23 on 7/13/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 1 out of 5

They marketted this show to make it look like NIN was headlining... Well they didn't, and they only played about an hour set, in the sunlight, with none of Trent's cool visuals. And then jane's addiction went on for a long time, with Dave Navarrow constantly flexing his six pack, with his guitar lowered just enough for you to feast your gaze on the entire thing - my friends wouldn't let me gouge my eyes out. One of the worst shows I have ever been to. Terrible.

  • NIN was great, Jane's not so much

by normthemack on 7/13/09Molson Amphitheatre - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

NIN was incredible! They should have been the headliners, as NIN is much cooler in the dark and they blew the doors off of Jane's Addiction. Jane's seemed to be having sound problems as the guitar was way louder than Perry Farrell, and they had to lower some songs a few keys so that PF could hit the notes :( NIN rocked so hard; I hope Trent is not thinking about calling it a career, as that was easily the best NIN show I have been at (I have been to 3 over the past 14 years). Street Sweeper sounded pretty good, but the opener always starts WAY too early at the Ampitheatre
