About

Nine Inch Nails are a progressive, Grammy-winning industrial rock band composed of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. Formed in Cleveland, Ohio as a solo project for singer, songwriter and producer Trent Reznor in 1988, Nine Inch Nails have released 11 studio albums, six EPs and three remix albums, starting with 1989’s Pretty Hate Machine and breakout debut singles “Down In It” and “Head Like a Hole.” For 1992’s Broken EP, NIN reached No. 7 on the Billboard 200 while its standout record “Wish” won the Grammy for Best Metal Performance. In the midst of hitting No. 2 and No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for 1994’s The Downward Spiral and 1999’s The Fragile, respectively, NIN released Hot 100-charting singles “Closer” and “The Perfect Drug” and earned a second Best Metal Performance Grammy at the 1996 ceremony for “Happiness in Slavery.” Nine Inch Nails went on hiatus until the 2005 chart-topper With Teeth, then hit the Hot 100 again with singles “The Hand That Feeds” and “Only,” and later with “Survivalism" from their 2007 follow-up Year Zero. Longtime collaborator and English producer Atticus Ross became an official member of NIN in 2016, established with a trilogy of releases culminating in 2018’s Bad Witch. As composers, the duo have earned two Academy Awards, two Grammys and one Emmy. In 2020, Nine Inch Nails were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. NIN also composed the score for the 2025 film Tron: Ares.

  • best NIN ever! too bad last

    by 420bissell on 7/15/09Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre - EnglewoodRating: 5 out of 5

NIN to me was a perfect industrial concert, the show was produced perfectly everything from stage set up to lights better than when I saw them in ’96,’06,and ’07. Too bad this was the last I do not know how they could top it off, other than raising the dead, and Jimmy, Kurt, any other great people to perform.

  • Too early for NIN, Jane's was pretty good

by RobPollard on 7/15/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 3 out of 5

NIN started at around 7:15pm on a gorgeous night in Michigan - normally that would be good, but for a band as brooding & dark as NIN (whom I've seen three other times) it really didn't work at all. Even if they stuck to mostly uptempo tunes, it would have been just OK, but they had a meandering, slow middle part which normally works well with a light show -- hard to do when it's bright & sunny outside. A disappointment. Jane's played all the hits and a surprise ("Obvious") but was a good, not great. Perry's voice, unusual to begin with, is basically gone and he only really effectively belted things out on a couple of tracks. The band itself sounded great.

  • NIN Rocks

    by 99Raven on 7/15/09Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre - EnglewoodRating: 4 out of 5

Nine Inch Nails was one of the best concerts I have ever attended. Jane's Addiction... not so much.

  • Trent was disappointing

by loco1 on 7/15/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 3 out of 5

Street Sweeper Social Club stole the show in my opinion.I wish more people would've been on time to hear and see them.I was very disappointed at Trent Reznors whiney discourse about their showtime.Trent seemed very distant and disconnected from his own music and the many faithful fans there to here him. Jane's rocked as usual although I was disappointed they didn't bother to present much new material.

  • Jane"s & NIN

by Jabberjaw on 7/15/09Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre - Chula VistaRating: 5 out of 5

INCREDIBLE!!! Janes Addiction just wows me and I danced all night!! NiN was just as good... would see them over and over again... My cheeks were hurting from smiling so much!!

  • NIN/JA the name speeks for itself!

by Nikita on 7/15/09Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre - EnglewoodRating: 5 out of 5

Nine Inch Nails always kills! I have never been to a bad show of theirs & I have been to a few. Enough said about nin. The new Band Street Sweeper Social Club was also very good. Not too many people in the adience had heard of them but they had a lot of good energy behind their music & performance. The real stars of the evening though (despite NIN being my ALLL TIME FAVORITE) Were Jane's Addiction! To have a band like that come back together to tour (& Perry hurting his leg on the performance of the tour, but like a true artist just pushed thru to make music for us fans) was nothing short of AWEsome!

  • What a killer show

by UpOnTheMountain on 7/15/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 5 out of 5

The weather was great. The hill was packed. Everyone was enjoying the experience. NIN set was great everyone was singing and dancing like crazy. Then Jane Addication pull out all the stops and the crowd was chanting St. Andrews. The night ended with a big smile.

  • NIN > JA

by tetrisjazzduck on 7/15/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 2 out of 5

How the hell Jane's Addiction headlined this show I have no idea. They're good and all, but I don't think there in as much demand as NIN. I was quite disillusioned when they NIN took the stage first while the sun was still up, and played for just over an hour. And somehow didn't even play Closer, which furthered my disbelief and caused me to think that the impossible might happen. Like some sort of a concert sandwich with a hour of NIN as each bread slice and Jane's Addictions as the PB&J. It doesn't help that I've seen NIN once before on the With Teeth tour and had such a great previous experience to rate this disappointing event. However, Street Sweeper Social Club was a nice surprise namely because of Tom Morello and all.

  • NIN rocks! Jane's Addiction not so much

by katnbirdie on 7/15/09Santa Barbara Bowl - Santa BarbaraRating: 4 out of 5

NIN always puts on a great show - I'm never disappointed. Unfortunately I can't say the same for AD. He was off most of the time and had no stage presence. If it weren't for NIN, I'd give it a poor rating.

  • NIN was Awesome

by knightguy on 7/14/09Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre - EnglewoodRating: 4 out of 5

Trent Resnor and NIN put on an awesome show. It sucks that it is the last tour NIN is going to do. Janes addiction were ok. Perry Ferrell was drinking during the show and he was so off tempo with the rest of the band you couldn't really sing along. I think Janes addiction would be better in a small venue. It was a great show overall especially NIN. NIN played alot of the old stuff and some new stuff which it is all incredible music. Janes addiction played alot of songs as well it just would have been better in a smaller venue.

  • good show

    by badassbond2 on 7/14/09Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre - EnglewoodRating: 5 out of 5

other than the nachos being a bit stale, i had a great time.

  • nine inch nails was dissapointing for a last show

by crystalyc03 on 7/14/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 3 out of 5

i am a huge nin fan. and when i heard that this was the last time i would see them, i was devastated. but i was thrilled because i thought that the show would be the most amazing thing ever. and for the fans of nin, we've come to have certain expectations from them. i was disappointed. the show was a striped down version of itself, not what i was used to. i did like the more intimate feel of the show. but for someone who had never seen them before, they might not have seen the greatness that i do. they didn't however, play all the favorites, but they did play some new songs. i was absolutely shocked when i realized that i would have to watch them perform in the daylight. and i was also very upset that janes addiction was the headliner not nine inch nails. overall.. i still loved the show minus all the disappointments, and they still played with great energy. i'll forgive them!

  • Not a Fitting Farewell

by dadsaidno on 7/14/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 4 out of 5

Two things that I never thought I would ever see happen at a concert, happened. First, the bands went on on time. We strolled in @ 7:15 and heard NIN. Second, the sun was out and NIN was performing. weird. I was in such disbelief that I couldn't enjoy it at all. Though they played great, I was so confused that I figured it was a fancy cover band that was spontaneously added to the bill. It just wasn't right. However, Jane's Addiction was phenomenal, even though I thought their set was too short. I'm not a huge fan of their music, though I do respect it. Perry Ferrell was amazing. Their music was better than I ever realized, and they put on a great show.

  • JA is always amazing.

by Valiot on 7/14/09DTE Energy Music Theatre - ClarkstonRating: 4 out of 5

This show was super fabulous. Nine Inch Nails was awesome and then Janes Addiction topped off the night beautifully. I was very satisfied with this show.

  • Unbelievable!!!!!

by FADE on 7/14/09Pearl Concert Theater at Palms Casino Resort - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

This was the most amazing of the 14 NIN shows that I've attended. Every aspect of the show the phenomenal, from lighting to the sound. Trent really stepped it up for this one! I went to chula vista, irvine, and santa barbara but this show was on a whole other plane of existance. I felt sorry for everyone in the world, outside of that room.

  • Disappointed NIN wasn't last band

by WudUpYo on 7/14/09Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre - EnglewoodRating: 3 out of 5

I'm sure NIN was absolutely awesome! They always are. And nothing against Jane's Addiction what so ever, but myself, the gate staff, security staff, and another member of staff helping us find seats, all thought NIN was playing last . I made very tough plans to switch time with my son's Dad, special, to get him after his sports event for this evening because I wanted to surprise him as his very first concert, being his most favorite band in the world, NIN!! With special arrangments, I got him after his event, to get there for right round 8:30p. Come to find out, we hear two songs, and NIN is done. Complete waste of our time and my money, since the goal was for my son to hear his favorite band as his first concert. Very discouraging. It should have been better announced who was playing when, since we had no way of getting there sooner. I would not have bought the tickets and jumped through huge hoops to get my son for this one evening, if I knew NIN was first; therefore, we couldn't make it. They must better announce what order the bands will play, not only prior to ticket purchase, but at all.

  • Trent is amazing!!

by DaisyLoo on 7/14/09Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre - EnglewoodRating: 4 out of 5

Was a little disappointed that NIN played first!! That was the reason I was at the show!! It just wasn't the same when it was still light out. No one can beat his performance or stage show at Red Rocks, in September of 2008!!

  • NIN should've been the headlner!!

by bostonrose3 on 7/14/09Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre - Chula VistaRating: 4 out of 5

NIN was simply amazing. Putting on a great show, with great sound and really nailing, no pun intended, the trickier songs. Jane's Addiction was awesome too. They really seemed to be on their game. Overall I would definitely reccomend this bill to any rock fan of any age.

  • NIN was great bt I wish they wld have played last

by JoseValdez on 7/14/09Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre - EnglewoodRating: 3 out of 5

I like JA but the show was billed as a NIN concert and all of the sudden we get there and NIN is opening for JA. Good show but NIN should have played last... they are the better act and what people wanted to see.

  • NIN/Jane's Addiction

by eyewanttobelieve on 7/14/09Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre - EnglewoodRating: 4 out of 5

Great Show - Trent Reznor was great!! Dave Navarro totally awesome!! Perry Ferrell - as weird as ever.
