About

NIGHTWISH IN CONCERT:

When it comes to all-out symphonic metal spectacle, few bands hold a candle to the outsized pomp and showmanship of beloved Finnish rockers Nightwish. From the synchronized pyrotechnics and gigantic customized organ that dominate the band's stage show to the bludgeoning riffs and synth stabs that drive their music, Nightwish has all their bases covered to ensure fans are treated to a spine-tingling concert experience unlike any other. Acclaimed vocalist Floor Jansen joined the band in 2013 and her powerful vocals have become a highlight at their live shows, drawing fans out in droves for electric performances of favorites like "Amaranth" and "Nemo".

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Nightwish formed in Kitte, Finland in 1996 under the leadership of acclaimed singer-songwriter Tarja Turunen. The band's early releases established them as stars in their home country, but international superstardom eluded them until the '00s when albums like Century Child (2002) and Once (2004) made their way onto charts around the world. The band parted ways with Turunen in 2005 after releasing the live album and DVD End of an Era, but in 2007 they reemerged with a new lead singer -- Anette Olzon from Sweden. The band recorded two chart-topping albums with Olzon -- 2007's Dark Passion Play and 2011's Imaginaerum -- before her pregnancy led them to seek her replacement for the Imaginaerum World Tour. Floor Jansen was announced as Olzon's permanent replacement in 2013, and she quickly earned rave reviews with her impassioned performances on the road. With their 2015 album featuring Jansen already generating buzz, Nightwish have fans chomping at the bit to catch their fresher-than-ever live show in the flesh.

    The Greatest Show on Earth

by Caleb G on 5/13/22The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver Spring

I'm still stunned by the amazing performace given by both Beast In Black and Nightwish. BiB used some vocal tracks but they were still amazing, and as for Nightwish, even without Marco they are still incredible! Floor is just as beautiful and talented in person as I'd hoped. I would 100% go to this show again and I hope to see both bands again soon!

Sound was great and this vocalist puts today's pop singers to shame.

    Nightwish and Beast in BlackđŸ˜±

by Mu on 5/13/22The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver Spring

I didn’t read so I didn’t know Beast in Black was opening. I was already stoked to see Nightwish! This was my first Metal concert, definitely not my last, I could not have asked for a better time. Beast in Black was the cherry on top of a long awaited and highly anticipated hot fudge sundae đŸ€˜ 10/10 would recommend either of these band on their own. 20/10 would recommend seeing them together. Beast in Black knows how to hype up a crowd.

    Great

by Gil on 5/13/22The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver Spring

The show was amazing, beast in black were amazing and nightwish absolutely killed it. My only gripe is the venue was over sold, didn’t have a great line of sight for the show!

    Great concert and organization

by Rale on 5/13/22The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver Spring

It would be nice to know in advance if there's opening band and what was real start time of the main band. It started 1.5 hour later than advertised.

    Great Concert

by Bill on 5/13/22The Fillmore Silver Spring - Silver Spring

Floor Jansen and the rest of Nightwish killed it in a 2 hour set. We were close to the stage. Everyone in the band seemed to be having a great time and feeding off the energy of the crowd. Highly recommend if they come back.

The bands were great but venue experience sucked

by Chira on 5/9/22History - Toronto

Loved the show, especially Beast in Black set. I found sound to be too compressed, however, and generally lacking low end. The best sound was really upstairs and not where you'd think it would be (central, close to the stage). I really disliked the stupid "no bag check" policy and honestly, i think History is a horrible venue for these bands. But that's just my opinion.

    Amazing show!

    by J-P on 5/9/22MTELUS - Montreal

I wasn’t sure about the first part with Beast In Black but as soon as Nightwish came on stage, all hell broke loose (in the very good sense). Great intro, all the best songs were played, everyone on stage performed perfectly and I must admit I was even emotional when they played « the greatest show on earth » in its entireties. Floor voice is just too good! Just a small negative point: Marko is sorely missed. Don’t get me wrong, Troy is doing a very good job to replace the vocals and it does work out much better than I expected but Marko’s voice is so iconic, its difficult to replace. I think some very « Marko » song might not be possible anymore. Fortunately, Floor is so good and there are so many amazing songs in their repertoire, you almost forget about it. May Nightwish survive many more years. They definitely still do have it in them from what I saw on stage!! I’ll be there next time too and the ones after until the very end!

    Awesome

by Antihero on 5/9/22MTELUS - Montreal

The venue was full and the night started with an awesome set from Beast In Black. Nightwish hit the stage at around 9:15 and gave us two hours of classic material with a few songs from their most recent album. The sound quality was excellent. The crowd was on fire and this seemed to energize the band. One of the best shows I've seen in my 40 years of going to concerts

    Amazing

    by Steve20 on 5/8/22History - Toronto

I finally got to see Nightwish. They put on a great show with superb sound. Pros-Got to see Nightwish in a small intimate setting. I got close to stage and was able to see members clearly perform and react with eachother and audience. Cons-Got to see Nightwish in a small intimate setting. I didn't get to experience the full show I've seen on their dvds. No flames and fire or video screens playing visuals to the songs. An impressive show. I will definitely attend all future Nightwish tours and encourage everyone to do the same.

Amazing concert I will go again.

    by LightandShadow.com on 5/8/22History - Toronto

It was an amazing concert, I could even capture Floor Jansen happiness in some of my photos. The entire band performed extremely well and the sound was just at the right volume to enjoy without having a ringing in my ears.

    Nightwish

by Michael on 5/7/22History - Toronto

I took my 13 year old daughter to her first concert - Nightwish!!! Nightwish and opening act Beast in Black were phenomenal, such amazing musicians. The music was the right volume, the bands loved playing and the audience loved being there. History, as a new venue, is beautiful. I was very impressed - clean, nice staff, well laid out and great sound. I would see these bands again in a heartbeat and recommend History to anyone.

    An epic night

by Ken on 5/7/22History - Toronto

Venue: Crew at History were helpful & profession from entry, Merch, f&B to exit. Bands: Beast in Black endeavored but were a man down due to illness, but lead singer covered with enthusiam & guitarists & drummers were great as an opening act (my expectations were high based on other reviews) Nightwish: Floor's stage presence & vocal ability astounds in Marko's absence. Tuomas & Kai provide heartbeat to music, with Jukka bringing the bass, Troy playing his 100th instrument it seems & Emppu providing the lead & pumping up the audience. In thier less than 2 hrs on stage they provided a true musical experience for this one.

    An energizing evening with Nightwish

by Xela on 5/7/22History - Toronto

Nightwish was simply fantastic, engaging and extremely entertaining. The exceptionally high level music did not miss a beat and, although it seemed at times that Floor’s note perfect vocals were overpowered by the array of musical instruments, her voice seemed to improve as the flawless playlist progressed with endless energy. A memorable performance by all of the band members. Marko’s voice and stage presence was missed but Jukka’s bass playing blended in well with Nightwish’s classical energetic bass and drums. A huge thank you to all of the band members for such a unique performance and History for providing a most suitable venue. I hope that Nightwish will be back in Toronto very soon.
