NIGHTWISH IN CONCERT:

When it comes to all-out symphonic metal spectacle, few bands hold a candle to the outsized pomp and showmanship of beloved Finnish rockers Nightwish. From the synchronized pyrotechnics and gigantic customized organ that dominate the band's stage show to the bludgeoning riffs and synth stabs that drive their music, Nightwish has all their bases covered to ensure fans are treated to a spine-tingling concert experience unlike any other. Acclaimed vocalist Floor Jansen joined the band in 2013 and her powerful vocals have become a highlight at their live shows, drawing fans out in droves for electric performances of favorites like "Amaranth" and "Nemo".

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Nightwish formed in Kitte, Finland in 1996 under the leadership of acclaimed singer-songwriter Tarja Turunen. The band's early releases established them as stars in their home country, but international superstardom eluded them until the '00s when albums like Century Child (2002) and Once (2004) made their way onto charts around the world. The band parted ways with Turunen in 2005 after releasing the live album and DVD End of an Era, but in 2007 they reemerged with a new lead singer -- Anette Olzon from Sweden. The band recorded two chart-topping albums with Olzon -- 2007's Dark Passion Play and 2011's Imaginaerum -- before her pregnancy led them to seek her replacement for the Imaginaerum World Tour. Floor Jansen was announced as Olzon's permanent replacement in 2013, and she quickly earned rave reviews with her impassioned performances on the road. With their 2015 album featuring Jansen already generating buzz, Nightwish have fans chomping at the bit to catch their fresher-than-ever live show in the flesh.

Nightwish fan became even more so after concert

by abbadean on 1/26/12gibson - LA

was always a fan of "theatrical rock and orchestral metal", and the new NIGHTWISH album and concert experience justified why. from the first note, literally the first string, the first key, the energy and excitment is incredible. you feel it in your heart, you hear it in your ears, and you sense in your mind that this is something extra special. the new music is more "varied", yet with that unique NIGHTWISH sound and sensation. slow, fast, heavy, light, no matter the song or style, each had the same impact and effect. it made you appreciate why we were there, and why we were fans. NIGHTWISH is that good, and because of them, i want more, and cant wait for next time, and for now being able to share the NIGHTWISH story with others. now, if only i could stop singing "i want my tears back now" for one day. darn, there i go again ;)

    Nightwish didn't play their best

by greenteaplum on 7/15/09Masquerade - Atlanta

I'm afraid the title was true. Lead singer didn't sing on the right octive and what was supposed to be high was low and vice versa. And she should never for the love of God dye her hair bleach blonde.

    The Greatest Concert Ever!

    by hsimmons86 on 7/14/09Masquerade - Atlanta

This was the greatest concert I have ever been to. I've never had so much fun at a show. The band and the music were all incredible. The band members were so involved with the crowd and had so much onstage energy. They were even nice enough to give away their water to the crowd; although, they kept the alcohol for themsleves. I was very impressed with the lead singer, Anette Olzon, and how she performed Nightwish's older songs that were originally sung by the former lead singer, Tarja Turunen. She really proved herself to be worthy of being Nightwish's new singer.

    Well worth the trip

by TNTorch on 7/12/09Masquerade - Atlanta

Driving nearly five hours on a work night (who's idea is it to have a concert on Thursdays ending at midnight anyway?) seemed kind of like a bad idea, but the band was great. They played EVERY song that could be considered a hit in their library, and it was a "special" show since unknown to me at the time it was their last concert in the States before they were heading back overseas. Ghost Love Score, The Poet and the Pendulum, Romanticide, and Dark Chest of Wonders to name just a few great songs performed that night. Band was very personal with the crowd, you could tell that they were having just as much fun as we were. Truly a great concert, and the opening act Volbeet was great as well.

    See Volbeat!

by HeavenlyCall on 7/12/09Masquerade - Atlanta

Yes, Nightwish was headlining, but this night belonged to Volbeat. If you get ANY chance to see them, you MUST! Great energy, memorable songs, and a fantastic performance. Nightwish was good and I like the new singer Annette MUCH better than Tarja, but they lacked the energy of Volbeat and their setlist left much to be desired.

    Nightwish rocked my world

by messi on 7/11/09Masquerade - Atlanta

I walked into Heaven (which happens to be in Georgia) and was nearly overwhelmed by this feeling of palpable energy and excitement. The music felt like it was running through my very soul. It picks you up and takes you on a journey of emotion and enjoyment and passion. It was almost religious, LOL.

    Best day of my life!

by FearIsLove on 7/11/09Masquerade - Atlanta

That was hands down the best concert I've been to my entire life. I ended up crying when it was over because I was so happy, I know that's pathetic but hey doesn't everyone turn into a crazed fan when their favorite band pops out on stage. Nightwish was amazing and it was one of the greatest nights ever.
