Hilarious and informative. Learned all about Nick's rules to life.

Such a bummer to be so disappointed by 2 of my favorite actors of all time. I'm a little confused as to why they are touring.. Nick said at the very beginning he wasn't a comedian, yet he talked at us for 90 minutes. It felt more like a motivational speech than anything. I LOVE Ron Swanson and had such high expectations, but was so let down. I walked out halfway through :( :(

  • Disappointment

by MollyOB on 9/3/13Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 1 out of 5

This was a disappointment. I think I only laughed out loud once or twice. The show was over 2 hours and Nick Offerman needs more practice at stand-up.

Awesome, hilarious show. Nick Offerman was great and the show made me like him even more as a person and actor. Megan Mullally and her band were also amazing!

  • Fun night out!

by LwinnK on 9/3/13Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Wasn't certain how Megan Mulally would play a part in the show but was delighted by her group and her voice! Nick was a gem. Brought my husband for his birthday present and we had such a nice night out. I felt like Nick was in our living room, telling stories, a couple beers in and having a blast.

  • Best show ever!

I have never enjoyed myself so much! Great show! Opening act was terrific and Nick rocked!

  • Nick Offerman is a must see.

by Phreezypoofs on 9/3/13Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Nick Offerman is epic. For any of those who have seen him portray Ron Swanson, this is a fact that you already know. This show is different than other comedy shows in the material and the way it's structured. Nick and Megan were both hilarious and unpredictable. My boyfriend, who I've been trying to get to watch Parks and Rec for the last 2 years of our relationship is now currently in the process of finishing season 2 after seeing this show. Bottom line, go see it.

He did an amazing job. It was hilarious. Also, the opening was great too!

  • Bummer!

by PedroTheDog on 9/2/13Newport Yachting Center - NewportRating: 1 out of 5

This show was really disappointing. Nick Offerman wasn't funny! Many people got up and left during his set -- which was LONG. We stuck it out until the end only because we were in one of the fronts row in the center and didn't want to make a commotion. While he is very funny when performing material written by others (like on Parks and Recreation), it turns out that he is not good at writing/delivering his own material. Megan Mullally performed 4 songs in her "Nancy and Beth" duo. While I love her as an actress and comedienne, we just didn't get it. Some of her songs were catchy and kitschy ditties, while another was an old spiritual. All sounded nice, I guess -- she is a great singer -- but the act wasn't cohesive. In all, the night was really boring! I would not recommend this show to anyone. I want to say that we have no ideological problems with the content of Nick Offerman's "comedy" -- in fact, we pretty much agreed with the life lessons and recommendations that he shared. We were not offended by any of his discussions on the bible, etc. We were offended by his lack of comedic skills!

  • Nick Offerman was terrible

by davyslockr on 9/2/13Newport Yachting Center - NewportRating: 2 out of 5

I had never attended a Nick Offerman show nor had I ever watch him on TV yet I figured I would take a chance. Well I guess you had to be a fan because I did not find him funny at all. I have never left a show early until this show. We were not the only ones to leave early. Tne material was weak and again not very funny.

  • Just not funny... We walked out

by mindless on 9/2/13Newport Yachting Center - NewportRating: 2 out of 5

Megan Mullally and her band were fun. Wish they could have stayed on longer. Only negative was that a less than great sound system made it difficult to hear the words of her song parodies. From then on, it went down hill, as Nick Offerman (who happens to be Megan's husband) came onstage and attempted to present a talk on 10 points to live by, which was a not-very-funny redneck libertarian view on sex, religion, and drugs. E.g. if you want to pick up chicks, become a born-again Christian.. and "let me tell you about Leviticus", and how this book of the bible discriminated against a women's period and gays. He did point out that the Bible was written by "dudes", a concept that is true, but not at all funny.... It didn't get any better, and after an hour or so of this sort of drivel, we left. We might have enjoyed some of the humor from Parks and Rec or Will and Grace, but alas, it did not happen. We honestly did not hear anyone laugh at all during the performance.

Moved too slow at times. Took too much time lambasting religion from an uninformed view. Good critical scholarship would have provided better religious criticism. Best moments are when he seems to be more in the Ron Swanson character. Really was not interested in his sex or recreational drug life

Just awful. Not funny. The first time we have walked out on a concert.

Unfortunately that's all I can say for the positives, I thought the show was terrible! Megan and her band were ok, but the material from nick stunk

  • Better then expected

We had a great time and learned many life lessons. The unexpected partial nudity was the piece of bacon wrapped around our enchanted evening. We would definitely see Nick Offerman again.

  • An unintentional Parks & Recreation comedy showdow

by muZer1 on 4/22/13The Count Basie Theatre / Monmouth University’s Pollok Theatre - Red Bank / Long BranchRating: 5 out of 5

An unintentional Parks & Recreation comedy showdown… Aziz Ansari – Buried Alive March 27 / The Count Basie Theatre Nick Offerman – American Ham March 28 / Monmouth University’s Pollok Theatre By: Al Muzer RED BANK / LONG BRANCH, NJ – A quirk of venue-booking fate inadvertently pitted Parks & Recreation co-stars Aziz Ansari (who plays Tom Haverford) against Nick Offerman (Ron Swanson) on two successive nights in Monmouth County. Playing a taciturn, crisis-avoiding, sax-playing, woodworking enthusiast with a 4-pound mustache as the Director of the Parks and Recreation Department of Pawnee, Indiana -- Offerman has dubbed his theater tour American Ham due, in part, to Ron Swanson’s oft mentioned love of red meat on the show, and because Offerman, a trained stage actor with a long list of credits, still can’t seem to get around the fact that he’s a break-out character (Swanson has a large online fan base) on a hit television series. Wandering on stage in well-worn jeans waving casually with one hand while carrying an acoustic guitar and his shirt in the other, a topless Offerman placed his guitar carefully on its stand and struck a few beefcake poses for the crowd before ambling over to the microphone and deadpanning “Well, all the advertisements for this show promised ‘partial nudity’… and I didn’t wanna let anybody down.” Low key, very much in character (or, is the character him?), cynical, blunt and unassuming, Offerman promised that “now that the nudity thing is out of the way” an evening of “sing-alongs, sea chanties, woodworking hints, timely references to meat, and [his] ‘Ten Tips for a Prosperous Life’ will follow.” The guitar proved more than a prop as Offerman interspersed well-played, lyrically-tweaked, potty-humor ditties such as “King of the Road,” “The Apple Pancakes Song,” “Keep A Handkerchief in Your Pocket” and a Johnny Cashed “I Stay Offline” between droll insights on celebrity culture, L. Ron Hubbard, Carrie Underwood’s “Jesus Take The Wheel”, gay marriage, straight marriage, The Hobbit, intoxicants, religion, manners and, of course, Red Meat --- all of which, in their eventual unfolding, served as solid evidence validating his “Ten Tips...” Aziz Ansari’s performance the night before at Red Bank’s Count Basie Theatre was a much more strident affair as the delivery, pace and presentation of the material was machine-gunned at the packed house in a voice (sorry to say) that grew annoyingly shrill and irksomely repetitious around the one hour mark. No topic was off limits as Ansari riffed on bad Chinese food, child molestation, rape, marriage, growing up an Indian in South Carolina, adulthood, religion, children, and the joys of NOT having children. Unplanned set highlights were a 5-minute haranguing of a patron texting something in the front row as Ansari first took to the stage -- causing him to wonder what was so important it had to be sent right then and there; and the moment Ansari asked the crowd to “get the picture taking thing out of the way now” which resulted in a brief, but incredibly intense, cell phone flash show. Nick Offerman's ‘Ten Tips for a Prosperous Life’ Engage in Romantic Love - Say Please and Thank You Carry a Handkerchief - Eat Red Meat Get a Hobby - Go Outside - Avoid Mirrors Maintain a Relationship with Jesus Christ (if it’ll get you sex) Use Intoxicants - Paddle Your Own Canoe ###

  • Everything I wanted and more

by princetonaccountant on 4/1/13Pollak Theatre at Monmouth University - West Long BranchRating: 5 out of 5

Offerman was as hillarious as he is on his show and then some! The entire evening was great. His unconventional comedy style was edgy but funny. Go with an open mind and you will have a good time. I learned more from Offerman in 2 hours than I have in my lifetime. The only negative I can point to is that he didn't have his life advice captured in a book (hint, hint Offerman)! Some might be offended by some of his views and graphic stories but thats part of humor so if you get easily offended please leave more seats for the rest of us. Overall, one of the greatest nights of comedy I've had in a while.

  • Brilliant Show!

by MRanalli on 3/31/13Nob Hill Masonic Auditorium - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

Noone was quite sure what Nick Offerman was going to do or how he was going to perform. His show, while it did have plenty of comedy, was more like "An Evening with Nick Offerman." He brilliantly imparted wisdom on the audience from life lessons that he learned. He also made it a family affair (no it was not kid friendly) by having his wife perform the opening act as well as help with the closing bit. All of it was... Amazing.

  • by Anonymous on 3/30/13Pollak Theatre at Monmouth University - West Long BranchRating: 5 out of 5

This was amazing. Nick Offerman is the man. Just him on stage. I totally want to go again. Best show ever.
