  • Disappointed

    by SJ108 on 9/6/13Tower Theatre - Upper DarbyRating: 1 out of 5

My wife and I do enjoy Parks and Rec, but we were both aware that we were going to see Nick, not Ron Swanson. As many other reviews I've read have said, it was long-winded, unfocused, and only very occasionally got me laughing. The band from the opening act with his wife were talented musicians, but we were thoroughly confused as to what the act had to do with the comedy show. Nick, himself, seemed to ramble on and on, and occasionally make a joke or comment that elicited a few laughs out of me. Others laughed more frequently, but not once did I see the entire audience nearly falling out of their seats with tears in their eyes. I put it like this to friends who asked how the show went: "He seems like a great guy, and someone I'd love to chill and have a beer with. But I wouldn't pay to see one of my friends who occasionally makes a funny comment in a stand-up show." As a frame of reference, comedians I've seen and enjoyed include: Ron White, Jo Koy, Steven Lynch, Jim Gaffigan, Louis C.K., and wish I could have seen George Carlin live. If my tastes don't jive with yours, give Nick Offerman a shot. We left after an hour+, but not everyone did.

So much fun! Tower is a cool venue and Nick Offerman was great! Megan Mullaly was a nice surprise as well!

  • Highly disappointed. Offerman was a letdown.

    by JesK86 on 9/6/13Tower Theatre - Upper DarbyRating: 1 out of 5

From what I've seen previously, I expected Offerman's show to be a blast. However I was extremely disappointed. Offerman covered topics such as politics, religion other things I didn't want to hear during a comedy show. Needless to say I did not want to be preached at l, I wanted to be entertained. And I wasn't the only one. Many people got up and left during the show and there was never overwhelming laughter as a typical show. The only upside I saw, was his wife Megan. She opened and was quite funny, but I would never see either of them again. My advice is to save yourself the money and just continue to watch my parks and rec.

Awesome show. Nick Offerman was hilarious, and as always the Hampton Beach Casino ballroom was a great venue for it.

  • Genius

by LibertarianBureaucrat on 9/5/13The Lyric - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5

This show was genius. The audience was given the perfect mix of hilarity and true life lessons (if they were paying attention). I'm sure there were people who were offended by the bible-bashing, but plenty of others are offended by the bible... so, I think it breaks even. A lot of people are also saying that he says to be polite but then seems intolerant to those he doesn't agree with. To be clear, he never suggested outlawing anyone's religion or life preferences (like many religious people do), but rather mocked the utter insanity of many things included in the bible and then pointed out how absurd it is that this book is in any way involved in law making or legal proceedings... he didn't make up the separation of church and state, he's just reminding us about it. He has a pretty clear and fantastic underlying message: do your own thing as long as it doesn't hurt any one else, be a productive member of society (for your own benefit and that of those around you), be nice to people, and enjoy what life has to offer. And, to those who were disappointed because they love Ron Swanson and expected this to be an extra episode of Parks and Rec - I love Ron Swanson perhaps more than anyone else (I'm a libertarian who works for the government after all)... but Nick Offerman is a person who plays a TV character. He certainly has some similarities to the character, but we went to see him, not someone he plays on TV.

  • Nick Offerman for President?

by CaitParker on 9/5/13Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Nick gave his ten ways to lead a prosperous life. I'm wondering when we will see him run for commander in chief. He was spot on and amazing.

  • What a waste...

by DisappointedParksFan on 9/5/13Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 1 out of 5

...of my time and money. The opening act (part of Megan Mullaly's band) was good, and whetted my appetite for seeing Nick's performance. The only honest/legitimate part of his show came at the start, when he told the audience that he's not a standup comedian, nor a writer, but just an actor who loves his wife. He then proceeded to prove his first two points. (Or to put it differently: Nick, if you had a writer for this show, fire him immediately.) Offerman owes his success to his writers. He had few original thoughts or descriptions at the show I saw. When he couldn't think of a more creative way to describe, say, a televangelist, or a Republican, or a homophobe, his fallback noun was the D-word for the male member. (Since I don't know what Ticketmaster's censorship rules are, I'll leave it at that.) His repeated F-bombing shows that he's lazy. He'd start on a thought or a premise and not know how to finish it. Your money and time are better spent on real comedians.

  • Too Long

by DisappointedJack on 9/5/13Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 2 out of 5

Megan and band were great...what a surprise to hear her sing! Nick was long and rambling...kept thinking...will he ever get to point #10 so I can get out of here. If he tightened up his act to 45 vs. 90 minutes, it would be better for me!

  • Not what I expected, but great!

by Shaynabev on 9/4/13Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton BeachRating: 4 out of 5

I though that this was going to be a comedy show with nick offerman and Megan mullally together. Turned out that it is really just him doing his stand up comedy and Megan and her band "Nancy and Beth" opened for him. Much was very funny and he definitely made me laugh, but the highlight of the show was when Mullaly's band performed in the beginning. They were spectacular! Their singing was entertaining and flawless and the musicians were fantastic as well. I was disappointed when they stopped after 4 or 5 songs to introduce Nick. This show is definitely one worth seeing. nick was hilarious and "Nancy and Beth" were amazing!!

  • Big waste of time & money.

by Aconnconn on 9/4/13Lyric - BaltimoreRating: 1 out of 5

I think I spontaneously laughed twice. Boring. The references to the bible were taken over the top. Ok, I have a sense of humor, the Leviticus stuff, made me laugh , but it turned political and bashing the bible, and any sort of conservatism. WHY can't actors and entertainers just do that!! Nothing funny. I laugh at him in parks and rec, but that's as far as that goes. VERY disappointed, took my daughters who are big fans.we walked out before he was half way through. Sometimes people just want to be entertained, not have politics shoved down their throats.

  • Nancy and Beth were awesome!

by Mikeydoodle on 9/4/13Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton BeachRating: 2 out of 5

Nick should open for Nancy and Beth, not the other way around.

  • by Anonymous on 9/4/13Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

This show started on time, was funny (as advertised) and lasted ~2 hours, thus providing a good value for the $35 ticket price. Ron Swanson would approve. Note that the Wilbur theater is a classic venue with limited air conditioning efficiency. It was hot, but bearable. Also, bacon was discussed but not provided.

  • great show

by polishkat on 9/4/13Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

nick offerman is a riot. his delivery is brilliant and his humor has the audience in stitches for the entire show. I'd definitely recommend seeing him if you have the chance! you won't regret it.

  • Nancy & Beth were an amazing opener for Nick!

by Kmich on 9/4/13Newport Yachting Center - NewportRating: 5 out of 5

Megan & Stephanie's band, Nancy & Beth, were such an energetic, fun-filled opener for Nick's show!!! What an awesome way to get the crowd psyched up before settling in for a couple hours of full-bellied laughs with Nick! Outstanding performance by all!!! Such a talented little trio!!! Highly recommend attending whenever in your area!!

  • Life lessons with Nick Offerman

by mjiked on 9/4/13Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton BeachRating: 5 out of 5

Funny show. If you have seen him perform (even on tv talk shows), it may have been pretty similar to this, but if you've never seen him, its all hilarious. He gives his views about life and thoughts about things.

  • Nick Offerman does not disappoint!

by Cleyonce on 9/4/13Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

To be honest I went to the event for Megan mullally. I am a long time fan of hers and was so excited to see her. But I have to say Nick Offerman did a fantastic job entertaining the crowd and I would certainly see him again! He created a very welcoming environment and it was a great time!

  • Nick was amazing again, the rest not so much

by thor1234 on 9/4/13Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton BeachRating: 5 out of 5

Second time seeing Nick Offerman and still incredibly funny. He did have an opening act this time which was his wife's singing troupe. I was not at all impressed by them, the songs were neither funny nor good. Nick more than makes up for it though because his brand of humor really hits home for me. Definitely an R-rated show but I would feel comfortable watching with my 60+ parents.

  • HILARIOUS

by Co714 on 9/4/13Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom - Hampton BeachRating: 5 out of 5

Nick Offerman was hilarious. I would totally recommend seeing him to anyone/everyone.... especially if you are a fan of Parks and Rec. The show wasn't geared around Parks and Rec but he did make a few references that you wouldn't get unless you watched the show.

  • AMAZING

by rborges on 9/3/13Wilbur Theatre - BostonRating: 5 out of 5

Nancy and Beth were amazing musicians, even with half a band and Nick was so very funny! It was everything I imagined it would be and the ending was the very best!

  • Absolutely Terrible!!!!!!!!

    by Jojo19 on 9/3/13Wilbur Theater - BostonRating: 1 out of 5

This man is by no means funny and is quite offensive, again not in a funny way!! We are first bored to death by Nancy and Beth, Meghan Mullaly's "Band" which obviously is not aware of their audience or decade. Nick Offerman bored me to tears! I would have walked out of the show if I had not been sandwiched between complete strangers!!!
