The racing was good, I had never been to a 4 wide race before and doubt I will go to another one. I definitely prefer 2 cars at a time. They do not take cash for anything including the concession stands. I do not agree with this and generally speaking, if they don't accept cash, I usually don't go. The NHRA has gone downhill over the last decade or so and costs more than it should.
My wife and I were in the stands enjoying the races and we were super hot because of the sun beating down on us and had to leave for a bit because my wife almost passed out from heat exhaustion. We left for a bit and got cooled down and when we came back we were using an umbrella to keep the sun off of us. Shortly after we were told we couldn’t use the umbrella so we left. Our health is more important than sitting in the sun getting cooked. It was 30 years since my last NHRA race and it will be even longer now because I won’t be back to the races. I will just watch on TV.
Not a good experience at zmax…. Once again. 4-wide is a rip-off especially when they can’t clearly announce who won (and runner up). NHRA is in trouble and 4-wide does not help at all. Just look at the empty stands. EMPTY. We’ve been going since they opened but this will be our last time. The place is not good value for your money. Sad.
Can't wait till next year! So grateful to experience this event time and time again.
Great event!! Very well organized. Was impressed with how well the event was run with the large crowd in attendance. My 8 yr old grandson had the best time. Was our first time at the races. Would have stayed longer if not for the heat.
Ever since Zmax has opened my friend and I have attended the Fall race. We were disappointed to learn that the event had changed to 4 wide. That is the reason we don't attend the Spring race. The didn't offer any seating opposite the John Force grandstand so seating was limited and the good seats at the start line sold out quickly. You could sit on the other side but there was two jumbotron's in front of the stands. You couldn't see very well if you did sit over there. We walked over to the other side to get out of the sun after the nitro cars run because it was so crowded under the John Force grandstand. We thought we would grab a bite to eat while we were over there. None of the concession stands were open. I hate for the cars that had to pit on that side. At least the restrooms were open. We'll see what the schedule is next year as to whether we'll be back or not.
My boyfriend wanted to go to this 4 wide race. I thought, “why not, it will be ok.” It was GREAT!!! I can’t wait to go back in the spring.
We had a great time at the drag strip, everything is convenient, restrooms were clean. This is a great experience and we hope to return.
I grew up going to the races with my family in the 70's as my dad raced. Over the years I have gone to several different national events including the US Nationals every year until 2018. I relocated to North Carolina and haven't been going. I took my wife and daughter to the Carolina 4 wide Nationals and was disappointed. The ticket price is too high plus paying $10 to park. Concessions are way too expensive and they refuse to take cash, credit or debit card only. I do not agree with this at all. In the past, the bleachers were packed when the top fuel cars were running but not now. The attendance is down and I can understand why. My brother said attendance was down at Indy this year as well. I am going to look to see where the IHRA is going to be having events and see what they are doing. The Southeast Gassers Association is putting on a great show at a reasonable price.
Here are some ideas to help improve this event overall: - Be more informative for new fans. We need to know how long an event like this actually is. Also, explain what types of races there are. Wanna increase engagement? QR code an interactive game allowing fans to vote on winners of each race just before it happens. - Parking. I had to dig deep in cyberspace to learn parking is free in a certain area if you ride a motorcycle. This should be on your site. Also, please refresh your parking map. - Reduce the number of seats per row. This is a big ask but being cramped with little leg room in a set in the middle of summer is not a nice experience. - Race results. It should be more visibly clear who wins each race on the big screen.
