For the first time in League history, the National Hockey League (NHL) will host outdoor hockey in Florida. Celebrating the explosive growth of hockey in Florida over the last three decades, the League will stage two outdoor games in the Sunshine State during the 2025-26 season starting with the 2026 Discover NHL Winter Classic featuring the Florida Panthers hosting the New York Rangers at loanDepot park, on Jan. 2, 2026.
The 2026 Discover NHL Winter Classic will mark the first-ever NHL regular-season outdoor game for the Panthers and the sixth for the Rangers, who hold an NHL-best 5-0-0 record in outdoor games. The NHL Winter Classic continues the tradition the League established in 2008 of hosting a regular-season outdoor game at the onset of the new year, with the 2026 edition marking the 17th NHL Winter Classic.
We had a great time but good night it was cold! The entire event was well planned and BLUES WIN!
Entertainment during 1st period intermission was great. Venue was fantastic--seats had great views of the rink. Bratwurst was very good. It was too cold to eat or drink much. The pregame at the Target Center was good but was not designed for the large crowds that attended. The venue for that was much too small so we chose not to participate in most of the activities because the lines were too long.
What an awesome experience. The Wild and Target Field staff made this Blues fan feel very welcome. And it didn’t hurt that the Blues won the game.
I travelled from Newfoundland and Labrador which is the most easterly point in Canada to attend this game. Professional hockey is something we love but are so far away from. The winter classic was the very first event I've attended since the beginning of the pandemic and ohhhh boy was it worth every dollar and every headache to make the trip work. A once in a lifetime experience, the atmosphere was electric and I'll cherish my memories and souvenirs for the rest of my life from this event. Thanks Minnesota for the warm welcome on such a cold night! I was 2,634 miles from home and I'd make the trip again in a heart beat. From the country of hockey to the state of hockey, LET'S GO WILD!
Once in a lifetime event. Super cool event to attend.
It took forever to get into the stadium. Almost an hour. With only half of the attendance of a ball game the stadium was built for. Why make this tbd and then spring it on everyone that it is a night game. In Minnesota in the coldest month of the year. Just terrible planning.
The Winter Classic was a once in a lifetime event. Highly recommend spending the money & getting good tickets. The Wild & Target Field did an amazing job hosting & keeping fans & players safe from the frigid temps.
Amazing setup! View from my ticket area was great!
We stayed at the AC Hotel Marriott and were within walking distance of everything. It was very well planned out and fun. The Venues outside and inside were amazing. The outdoor band was really good. The whole experience exceeded our expectations even with the flight delays. The best was the Blues WON!!
Getting thru the gates on the plaza was a 40 minute wait....which was ridiculous! Took forever in the freezing weather. Target Field was ill prepared for the traffic coming from that direction. Not nearly enough heated areas in the outfield concourses. Aisles were full of snow and icy, almost trecherous in spots. Game and atmosphere and sound was great. My only real complaint about the game experience itself was that i would like to see the ice be more consistantly white like in the arenas so one could follow the puck a lot easier, especially from distance.
Great seats and we had heat!! Had a great view of the games,
Although it was -22 with wind chill, the event was a memory I will never forget and one that my son and I will share forever! The venue had places to warm up which was great! The game was exciting all the way through. Of course it helps that the Blues won! The people working the event were super helpful and friendly as well. Great experience all around!
Loved the event!! Would happily go again to another Winter Classic at Target Field!!!
The stadium concourses were too crowded to move freely. The required use of crefit cards (and malfunctioning machines) made transactions at concession stands take forever, and aggravated the crowding. In short, this facility could not smoothly handle a crowd of this size.
Great experience! I’d recommend it to any die hard hockey fan! You could see the game and puck just fine! I checked the box on being that cold though so next time around I won’t be competing to buy tickets - dress as warm as you think you should then add more 😎
Very cold, but for the two points and experience, well worth it!
My husband and I had a blast, even made history for the coldest NHL game! I can’t wait to see where the next one will be.
It was sooooo cold, but it was still a great event and Minnesota really did a good job hosting it!! Let’s GO Blues!!!
We waited over 45 minutes to get into Target Field and missed the player introductions and face off. We spent a lot of money on the tickets and missed an important part of this sow event. Not happy!!
The event was great once we got in. At our entrance there were 4 metal detectors for a 50 foot wide line. I waited behind a woman who went through the detector 5 times, removing something every time. No one else was allowed to proceed. My line was stopped for 1 woman, for approximately 3 minutes. There should have been a secondary screening area for people who set off the detector, so other people could continue to pass. The person behind us in line has been to 9 NHL winter classics, and he said this was the worst security setup he had seen. We missed the first 10 minutes of the game, and we were in line 40 minutes before the event.
