For the first time in League history, the National Hockey League (NHL) will host outdoor hockey in Florida. Celebrating the explosive growth of hockey in Florida over the last three decades, the League will stage two outdoor games in the Sunshine State during the 2025-26 season starting with the 2026 Discover NHL Winter Classic featuring the Florida Panthers hosting the New York Rangers at loanDepot park, on Jan. 2, 2026.
The 2026 Discover NHL Winter Classic will mark the first-ever NHL regular-season outdoor game for the Panthers and the sixth for the Rangers, who hold an NHL-best 5-0-0 record in outdoor games. The NHL Winter Classic continues the tradition the League established in 2008 of hosting a regular-season outdoor game at the onset of the new year, with the 2026 edition marking the 17th NHL Winter Classic.

An event I was waiting to attend for months, it was incredible. The experience was invaluable, the seats were near perfect, I'll remember this game for the rest of my life.
The entire experience was absolutely beautiful. The atmosphere. The setup. I couldn't really see the ice but I was front row for The Black Keys which was amazing. Highly recommend, would definitely attend again.
Over all this was a great event but I couldn’t see one end of the ice!! When I originally ordered the tickets it was based on the rink orientation going from first to third. They decided to change it to home to second. This caused a pole to be in my way the whole game. This was very disappointing. I’m glad I got to experience the game but didn’t like the change.
Seats were awful. Not what view was shown. I was pretty upset. I paid a lot of money for these ticket, and couldn’t see a thing.
Supposedly unobstructed view. Had a pole directly in front of us. Couldn’t see Jumbotron either. Two men next to us took up two seats a piece and paid for one. I don’t think I’ll be doing anything else at Fenway.
Great venue, atmosphere and environment for an outdoor game with two great fan bases.
It was a once in a life time experience. The stadium was definitely not one to watch a hockey game in. If you sat in the grand stands you had to try and look around a pole the entire game. Unlike hockey games were you are held when the puck was in play. Here fans were allowed to come and go as they please making people stand up to let them get past while the puck was in play. I missed a pretty good portion of the game with people in my row and the rows in front of me standing up. I will not be going back to see a hockey game there again.
Poor planing from a venue perspective, average wait in a food line was over 30 minutes, didn’t matter when you went, conversations stand even didn’t charge me in full because they felt bad for the length of the wait…by the end of the second period food options were limited due to certain things selling out, for the amount of money paid, I shouldn’t have to miss a significant portion of the event to buy a hot dog…
Was a fantastic time. Only one complaint, fenway needs to upgrade all the old seats. The venue itself though was very good.
Highly disappointed that Target Field could not shovel the steps or the walkways in front of the seats, or clean off the seats.
So this was the second Winter Classic I have attended. First was in Dallas last year and I chose to attend this year as well. I believe Minneapolis and the NHL did a great job. I was hoping to be able to use the downtown Skyway but it was closed, so it was unusable. We instead used the light rail which was really easy. We can make adjustments, so no big deal. Admittedly, it was incredibly cold, but what can you expect from Minnesota in January? Being that we came in from out of town and stayed downtown, I was really disappointed in the fact that there was almost no activity downtown...restaurants were closed and inaccessible and I already mentioned the Skyway. The game itself was awesome and the idea of the Winter Classic is outdoor hockey in the elements. I went into the games I have attended knowing the seats and sight lines are not ideal for hockey...I attended for the atmosphere and the fact that this game is a marquee game for the NHL. Football stadiums seem to be better suited for these games but the view is still not good. Again, regardless of the view the experience is one worth a lifetime! I know I have only attended two of these so far, but will attend again given the opportunity, regardless of venue and weather!
Minneapolis was such a fun town. Fans, other than 1 VERY obnoxious one, were friendly and welcoming. Plenty of time to navigate through fanfare activities prior to the game. Hot chocolate was a hit (hmm, wonder why?) 😂 Mostly, the spirit and excitement of fellow Blues fans was parallel to none! We are a hockey town and we love and support our team! We bleed blue and Long love the note!
It was a once of a lifetime experience. We were really there in -5 degree plus weather and survived it. Our seats were great and the experience was unbelievable!! Had a great time.
The Minnesota Wild snd City of Minneapolisdid an awesome job on the 2022 NHL Winter Classic. As an attendee from the opposing team snd traveling in from out if state, everyone we encountered was very hospitable snd friendly. Target Field looked awesome and the outdoor pond hockey theme was great. So very glad we were able to attend even in the bitter cold!
I had a great time even though it was extremely cold. Heaters were working for warmth at intermission. The game itself was entertaining enough to keep me warm. The drinks and food were good. All and all it was very entertaining
What a great show! Minnesota did it right - great presentation. Loved the light show and fireworks. Thomas Rhett gave a great performance as well (although i am looking forward to seeing him at Stagecoach in warmer climes....). The cold weather was a little tough to bear for a SoCal native, but I'm so glad I stayed to the end!
From a great venue to a great game what more could you have asked for. We traveled from St. Louis to watch the St. Louis Blues face the Minnesota Wild in the coldest NHL game in history. It was a tremendous experience and an event my family and I will never forget.
Just about everything was fantastic. They put on a very good event. I loved the raw wood feel of the on field venue. They had a lot for kids to do at the pre-game. Wish there was more leading up to the game. Most had an alumni game the day before. With the Wild being a newer team, maybe a history of Minnesota hockey or something to promote the community. Only real complaint I had was the entrance to the game. I was surprised how long it took to get through the gates. Everything else was though of though… even the warm up stations throughout the stadium! Thank you!
What an amazing experience!! Minneapolis rolled out the red carpet and held nothing back. Good job to the NHL and Minneapolis
