About

The Seattle Kraken will host the 2024 Discover NHL Winter Classic at T-Mobile Park on Jan. 1, 2024, against the Vegas Golden Knights.

The first NHL outdoor game in Seattle will pit the two most recent NHL additions against each other at the home of Major League Baseball's Seattle Mariners. T-Mobile Park will be the 14th venue and eighth baseball stadium to host the NHL's premier regular-season event since it started in 2008.

The Kraken are in their second season since joining the NHL as its 32nd team for the 2021-22 season. The Golden Knights are in their sixth season, having joined the League for 2017-18.

The Kraken will become the 29th NHL team to participate in a regular-season outdoor game and the first Pacific Division team to host the Winter Classic, which has never been played west of the Central time zone. It will be the second for the Golden Knights, who played the Colorado Avalanche in the 2021 NHL Outdoors at Lake Tahoe on Feb. 20, 2021.

    Disappointed

    by ats200 on 1/3/11Heinz Field - Pittsburgh

The 2011 Winter Classic was nothing compared to the 2008 classic in Buffalo. The PA announcing, hosting, giveaways and entertainment (aside from Clarks, Hinder, and Styx) were horrible. Also, why would anyone think it was a good idea to incorporate so much related to the Steelers. The fans were there to see hockey, no one cares about Jerome Bettis or Franco Harris aside from the Steelers season ticket holders who shouldn't have been there anyway. They didn't even have the courtesy to represent the Penguins, they egotistically wore their Steelers jackets. Lastly, the game should have been postponed until Sunday. How can the NHL expect to have a good game played in weather conditions so horrible. It wasn't enjoyable for the fans or the players I'm sure. Luckily none of the players were hurt due to the weather.

    Winter Classic

Good Show - too bad the Pens lost :o(. We had the very last row LL in 508, but we could still see the puck & players. Worth the $$.

    Winter Classic

    by blackandgold11 on 1/3/11Heinz Field - Pittsburgh

The Winter Classic in Pittsburgh was an awesome event. The change in the start time until 8 pm was great! The festivities prior to game time made it feel like a Super Bowl type of event! The only thing we could have asked for were a few snow flurries and a Pens win! NHL needs to make the start time 8 pm from now on. Under the lights made it that much greater!

While the weather forced a postponement to later in the day, it was a MUST see event!

Yes, it got moved, yes it was raining, yes the Pens lost, but it was still really awesome event. Great seats (534 row M) )one of those few events being lower was a disadvantage)
