About

For the first time in League history, the National Hockey League (NHL) will host outdoor hockey in Florida. Celebrating the explosive growth of hockey in Florida over the last three decades, the League will stage two outdoor games in the Sunshine State during the 2025-26 season starting with the 2026 Discover NHL Winter Classic featuring the Florida Panthers hosting the New York Rangers at loanDepot park, on Jan. 2, 2026.

The 2026 Discover NHL Winter Classic will mark the first-ever NHL regular-season outdoor game for the Panthers and the sixth for the Rangers, who hold an NHL-best 5-0-0 record in outdoor games. The NHL Winter Classic continues the tradition the League established in 2008 of hosting a regular-season outdoor game at the onset of the new year, with the 2026 edition marking the 17th NHL Winter Classic.

  • Majestic

by Earl on 1/4/19Notre Dame Stadium - South BendRating: 5 out of 5

Been to 7 of the Winter Classics and would say this one is in the top 3. Being in Notre Dame stadium was priceless, majestic. Im not even a Notre Dame fan even got to see boston college play notre dame night before. The National anthem was amazing probably the best ive ever seen. Game was amazing as it went back and forth with many chances each side. The only complaint i would have is there wasnt much pregame stuff going on like past classics like concerts beer gardens etc. Should have just tailgated as i usually do

  • Ridiculous Lines

by blindjerry on 1/4/19Notre Dame Stadium - South BendRating: 2 out of 5

Spent most of the time standing in lines trying to get something to eat/drink at the venue. It seemed like they were not prepared for the amount of people there. Every vendor for food/drink/merchandise had a ridiculous line. Traffic in and out of the venue/city was ridiculous. Why wasn't there more people directing traffic? Dedicated an entire day for this event and only saw 20 mins of actual hockey.

  • No food, no drinks, long lines

by BK on 1/4/19Notre Dame Stadium - South BendRating: 1 out of 5

Whomever planned this event seemed to think no one would show up

  • 2019 Winter Classic

by Jay on 1/4/19Notre Dame Stadium - South BendRating: 5 out of 5

GREAT JOB by the NHL on the 2019 Winter Classic honoring two storied original 6 franchises while honoring the storied traditions of Notre Dame athletics! Awesome venue, perfect weather (although a few snow flurries would have been a great touch), great bands, South Bend Symphony and Jim Cornelison and the flyover all excellent! Honoring 4 great retired players from each team with Stan Mikita being represented by his wife, Jill was fantastic. Great close game including two breakaways and shots hitting the cross bar and post. Rode my motorcycle to the Winter Classic (who does that?) and got a great photo of me and the bike in front of the stadium and Winter Classic sign. Couldn't ask for a better day!

  • Was Good Not Great

    by T. H. on 1/4/19Notre Dame Stadium - South BendRating: 4 out of 5

It was a great time. I took my son for his 16th birthday. The pro’s. It was the Winter Classic. The seats were great. Wasn’t a bad seat in the house. The cons. Not enough food and drink vendors. Spent way too much time waiting and not watching the game. The horn and Chelsea Dagger when the Hawks scored was barely able to be heard but the music was loud enough to hear. Next time turn the volume up on the horn when the Hawks score and turn up Chelsea Dagger.

  • Notre Dame did not prepare at all!!

    by j. B. on 1/4/19Notre Dame Stadium - South BendRating: 3 out of 5

After the first period it was nearly impossible to get anything to eat or drink, every stand said they ran out of food and beer. The few places that did have some stuff had over 50 people in line. The only thing they did have was terrible hot chocolate that the were scooping from a trough. Notre Dame should have expected a sell out crowd and prepared for it!! The game itself was awesome and great to watch!!! I wish ticketmaster would have told me my seats were not actually seats but bleachers when i bought them though. Had to fight for some space so i didnt get crushed!

  • Great event but terrible concessions

by Dino D. on 1/4/19Notre Dame Stadium - South BendRating: 2 out of 5

The event was great. Parking at the venue was a breeze. My only issue was that I missed over a third of the game in line for two beers and a hot dog. When I finally got to the register to make my order, I was informed that they were out of beer and hotdogs. Before the end of 2nd intermission! Norte Dame was not prepared for this event at all

  • fun time

by JJ on 1/4/19Notre Dame Stadium - South BendRating: 4 out of 5

The venue was great. Chicago Blackhawks at Norte Dame? Awesome! Don't know who dropped the ball on concessions, though. No soda and limited food vendors. A very minor problem, but others seemed to be disappointed.

  • A unique day

by MikefromMichigan on 1/4/19Notre Dame Stadium - South BendRating: 4 out of 5

Loved the whole experience, loaded with tradition. Liked having Jim Cornelison belt out the anthem with the SB Symphony. Great to see legends of the game introduced. Game was lots of fun to watch. Intermission entertainment was only so-so, but I know it pleased some of the people. Parking, as always at an event of this magnitude, was quite pricey. But parking at St. Mary's with a shuttle was affordable and convenient. Biggest problem was getting out at the end. I live north in Michigan, but traffic was paralyzed and I was forced to go south toward town, then west before I could even make a move toward home. Game ended at 4:00, and I wasn't home in Berrien Springs until 6:15. We ate before coming in, but I understand there were MAJOR problems with concession lines and supply.

  • Meh

    by B. S. on 1/4/19Notre Dame Stadium - South BendRating: 2 out of 5

The good: the game itself + Weezer The bad: the parking/traffic situation + too long of lines at concession stands & bathrooms + letting underage, bratty kids drink without checking for their IDs

  • Great Day!

by CRR on 1/4/19Notre Dame Stadium - South BendRating: 4 out of 5

We had a great time! We spent the night in the area and arrived at ND around 9am - parking was very easy. Our kids drove in from IL that morning and had a much harder time with traffic on the highway of course but easy parking once at ND. They were able to grab some food & soda upon entry and make it to their seats on time for puck drop. 1st intermission - the bathroom lines (most of them) of course were crazy long, however we found a section where there was no line. Although we did not attempt food or drink in the stadium - we had to try to walk through mobs of folks who were waiting in lines. The couple behind us - the wife was gone the entire 2nd period waiting in line for a hot dog. I think better communication as to where what food and drink are offered at what stand would have alleviated much of the bottle neck & confusion. The kids didn't know there were other food options at other stands & I think many people felt the same way. With an event that large - people need to understand and be patient. Many of us hung out in the lot after the game waiting for some of the traffic to subside - I think maybe half and hour, chatting with others & people watching then we drove right out. We did get turned around a bit & ended up taking a back way to our hotel. Maybe some extra signage or additional volunteers at intersections to help direct traffic. Not a big deal, we were just unfamiliar with the area as it was only our 2nd time to ND. With this being a first for ND, much like the Garth Brooks concert, I think they did a good job not knowing exactly what to expect. There are definitely lessons to learn for concessions and parking/leaving the lots. All in all though - we had a GREAT DAY! The ice looks beautiful and the mix of Hawks traditions with ND traditions was something to behold. Such a cool experience and we were glad to have been there.

  • Great Day at Notre Dame!

by Ira1213 on 1/4/19Notre Dame Stadium - South BendRating: 5 out of 5

The day was perfect! A little sunshine might have brightened the day, (along with more Hawks goals). Parking, getting into and out of the stadium was a pleasant experience. Having the Notre Dame Campus as a backdrop was a plus!. The pregame festivities and the between period shows were fine. (Not my type of music, but generally everyone seemed to enjoy it). ND concessions did run out of food and drink by the 2nd period. Hopefully when they host again that can be rectified. Looking forward to going to the ND/Michigan outdoor game tomorrow. The NHL did a fine job!

  • Great Hockey- bad concessions

by Indy white river on 1/4/19Notre Dame Stadium - South BendRating: 2 out of 5

The game was a blast but the only downside were the terrible concession stands. My brother went to get a hot dog and hot chocolate with 5 minutes remaining in the first intermission. He did not return until the end of the second intermission, WITH NOTHING! He missed the whole second period and the second intermission's entertainment. Very poorly equipped to handle the hockey crowd.

  • Worst Concession Lines of All Time

by Sierra on 1/4/19Notre Dame Stadium - South BendRating: 3 out of 5

The game was great. Sound was great. Stages were great. Bands were great. But the concessions.....seriously the worst concessions experience I’ve ever had at any stadium or performance. Period. I missed the entire first period and first intermission when Weezer performed because I was standing in line. And it wasn’t because there was an issue with handing out beer (although that was slowing them down) it was everyone multitasking behind the counter. Each worker was doing 15 things at once all while there seemed to be no rush to help customers. It was bizarre and infuriating to say the least. How hard is it to grab a tray of chips and put cheese next to it? Pull a pretzel out of the heater? Open a beer? It was so completely and utterly disorganized. I feel like I spent $175 to stand in line.

  • Where’s the food?

    by K. G. on 1/4/19Notre Dame Stadium - South BendRating: 2 out of 5

I have been to two big events at Notre Dame stadium in the past two months. Garth Brooks concert and the Bridgestone Winter Classic. While the concert was great and the hockey game was great, the experience was horrible. Notre Dame is not prepared to handle these very large crowds. The lines for food and drink were insanely long and they were running out of food everywhere. It caused me to miss an entire period of the hockey game just to wait in a 45 minute line to buy my son a soda and nachos. If Notre Dame wants to host these big concerts and games, then they have to step up their game and be ready for the 70.000 people that they knew were coming!!

  • Awesome

    by M. K. on 1/4/19Notre Dame Stadium - South BendRating: 5 out of 5

Had great seats and the bands between periods were awesome. Felt like a big time event! Wish Blackhawks could’ve brought home a victory!

  • Excellent seats, terrible food

by DD on 1/4/19Notre Dame Stadium - South BendRating: 4 out of 5

Seats in 800 level provided an excellent view of rink, and the option to sit indoors or outdoors was much appreciated. The staff on the 800 level was extremely friendly and provided excellent service at all times from ticket scanning to escorting to opening doors. The club level seats and service were outstanding and truly memorable. Beverage options were plentiful. Food options were limited, overcooked and soggy, and not vegetarian friendly. The best food was popcorn in a box. The food was totally unacceptable and not on par with club level options at NHL arenas or NFL stadiums.

  • Great event

    by M. P. on 1/4/19Notre Dame Stadium - South BendRating: 4 out of 5

Wonderful time! We had great seats, lots of entertainment on the field from players,

  • Food service was worse than terrible

by Hi Rider on 1/4/19Notre Dame Stadium - South BendRating: 1 out of 5

The vendors did not have enough people to serve, the lines were way to long & SLOW!! And then they did not have enough supplies, they ran out of EVERYTHING!!! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.

  • Winter Classic

It was a great experience viewing the game at the great Notre Dame Stadium. Service and access was way better than Wrigley Field and Soldier Firld Classics
