    Heritage Classic Battle of Albert

by Mels Rockpile on 11/2/23Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

The whole Event was a great experience. The energy of the game was awesome. There was some long lineups for Refreshments and sitting on the north end there was no view of the big video screen for any of the action just one small screen at field level. If this event was scheduled for next week I would go!

    Poor Venue & Terrible Experience

by Poor Venue on 11/2/23Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

Sure Commonwealth Stadium is big and can hold a lot of people, but with just having the single concourse is terrible. The way the food/drink vendors were setup was a huge disappointment. We stood in line for 15 mins to get a beer. Plus it took 2-3 mins to be able to pay with a credit card because the machines were so slow. Plus getting to and from the stadium is an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE, honestly we'll probably never go to anything at Commonwealth Stadium ever again.

    Disappointing Experience

by HkyFan on 11/2/23Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

The stadium vendors could not handle the volume of people at the event, so the line ups to go to any concessions or the washroom were absolutely insane. We missed an entire period of the game, just trying to get our 7 year old to the washroom because we could not make it through the crush of people on the concourse. The rink was so far away it was very difficult to actually watch the game, even though we were in one of the "premium"seats. There was no real pre-game show, and nothing much in the first intermission. Just an overall disappointing experience

It was such a nice event, entertainment was first class

by Mack daddy on 11/2/23Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

Oilers vs flames, you couldn't ask for a better game. The oilers entertainment group did such a wonderful job, the staff was helpful and the concert was great, and it was such a great game it could of went anyway,

    Great but line ups galore!

by Cherine on 11/2/23Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

The event itself was very good. The sound was amazing and they showed everything on the screen. Weather was pretty good considering the time of year. The price of food was much more realistic compared to Rogers place! The line ups to get into the venue were an hour long and concession line ups were also very long. There should have been more fencing or gates to control the line up because ppl were butting in line all over. Not enough staff or ushers to guide ppl to their seats. The size of bag allowed in was ridiculous! Who has a purse the size of a photo? Better communication or itinerary would have been nice to know a month or even a week leading up to the event. Lots of room for improvement but overall the event was a memorable one to be apart of.

    Great fun

by Oilers fan on 11/2/23Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

The outdoor classic was great. Only complaints was that the NHL restrictions on a handbag was different than the commonwealth stadium restrictions. The same handbag I take to Rogers stadium to the oilers game wasn't allowed even though it is an nhl sponsored game. It was super annoying to walk around the whole outside of the stadium to find one designated place to check in your hand bag. Also, when getting food, my guest missed the whole second period because the line ups for the concessions were crazy. They needed more employees to help out as the cashier had to run to get the food.

    Overpriced Event

by BigRyanH on 11/1/23Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

Tickets were overpriced for the view of the entertainment. Stadium sightlines are not great for viewing NHL hockey. Concourse is not set up to handle sell out crowds.

    Fun atmosphere, some poor execution

by Passmore on 11/1/23Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

The game was entertaining and they had enough other live entertainment to keep the crowd engaged throughout. So many great memories. I think more staff were needed to accommodate the number of people attending as drink and food concession lineups were almost back to the seats. I can’t imagine how much more food and drink sales could have been if they could keep up with demand. The view of the ice isn’t as great as a standard arena but it was fun to experience it once outdoors, with 55,000 cheering fans! Public transit was also a bit of a bottle neck with people trying to buy transit as they leave. The City of Edmonton needs to have a bylaw mandating that ALL events at commonwealth need to include a charge to cover public transit to/ from the event. Lastly it was a great event but the NHL should have pushed for their marquee event to be on Saturday and not competing with NFL Sundays. Also the host city would have received more business if out of town visitors had stayed the night instead of rushing home for work Monday morning.

    My 1st Outdoor Game

by Oilers > Flames on 11/1/23Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

The Heritage Classic was an unreal experience and I am so glad I had the opportunity to attend. Commonwealth stadium, however, left much to be desired. It [Commonwealth] is horribly designed and there was no rhyme or reason to movement throughout the concourse. It was miserable to say the least. 10/10 would recommend attending a Heritage Classic 0/10 would recommend Commonwealth Stadium

Heartbreak…Did that, done it, never do again.

by Failed event on 11/1/23Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

Very disappointing. Line ups from the moment we stepped on the grounds. Once inside we were jammed amongst thousands of fans. We could see our section overhead and yet took us over 20 minutes to get to our seats. Tried to get up to get a drink. But failed as the lines ups were huge. Those who tried leaving missed an entire period before coming back… and still were unsuccessful without food or drinks. We sat in lower bowl on the east side. Row 6. Didn’t have a View of the ice surface, tried watching the game on the big screen but view often blocked by stand up party zone. I should have stayed home and enjoyed the game from the comfort of my home. We left feeling like this was the biggest waste of money. For all the hype about this event…We left extremely disappointed about our experience

    Heritage Classic was Awesome

by AK on 11/1/23Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

The Game itself was awesome, crowd, concert, flyover. What the oilers could have done to heighten the experience is added another big screen for replays and penalties one end and tilted away. Pre-game could have used concerts , an alumni game like last time would have also been a wonderful add. If we can put up merch sales having some alumni outside signing or some live music to make it an event would have been awesome.

    Waste of time and money

by Mike on 11/1/23Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

Entering and leaving the stadium was very unorganized. Had to wait 30 minutes to get coffee and a hamburger. Hamburger was cold, took one bite and threw it away. Food lines and bathroom lines were ridiculous and blocked foot traffic on the concourses. Watched most of the game on the big screen because the rink was so far away. And to prove how badly organized this event was is the fact that no one checked my tickets to get in. No one. Just walked right through security. How does that happen in 2023? Event was overhyped and overrated. Total waste of money and time. Never again.

    Great Event, not perfect

by The Hershell on 11/1/23Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

Heritage Classic was a great event. Well organized and although people complained about the line ups, it was 55,000+ and you shouldn't expect to show up 30 minutes before the game and get in on time. That said I do have a couple of areas that could be improved upon. Being from Edmonton I knew about the transit system, but you could tell many others weren't used to it. So many Calgarians showed up at Century Park to catch the LRT. Of course there was a huge line up to pay, so that should have been expected and better instructions could have been provided ahead of time. Also for the Nickelback concert we were on the other side, ok no problem we would watch the screen, but all they showed was far away shots, no close ups, so waste of time. Lastly in the first period the big screen was well configured, but later it changed and there was no penalty clock display, so kind of hard to follow. Other than that a good event, security and ticket takers did a great job in a hectic atmosphere.

    Great game problematic venue

by Oilerfandan on 11/1/23Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

My experience was great when it came to the game itself however the venue facilities and not really equipped to handle the volume of patrons that it received during this event, im not a major alcohol consumer so I can't speak for the service however the lack of space made getting around the lobby impossible let alone buying food or beverage I usually partake in a drink and snack or meal when watching hockey however this time I did not as I could not find what was a line for anything as it was mostly just large unorganized crowds same could be said regarding the washroom facilities hard to access let alone use this is now twice I've been to this stadium and both times it's been a chore to do anything but watch what you came to see I will say what staff I did interact with were very pleasant and helpful so there is that

    Awesome

by Dragon_athlete77 on 11/1/23Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

Good sound. Acceptably visible. Great bands. And...the right team won even if the refs were handing out 5 on 3 powerplays to try and keep it close. Didn't like the bag policy being so ridiculous for an outdoor event. 6"x4"??? Ignored at another gate so powertripper was just a knob. Concourse and vendors not used to crowd size. Avoided being in that as much as possible. Overall, positive experience. Hope I can remember it for a while.

Great Game to bad about the Sea of Humanity!

by Lamplighter on 11/1/23Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

Starting with the 20-30 minute line to get into the building, then a early trip around concession with lines crossing each other and people trying to enter and leave was mass confusion. All food, drink and souvenir lines seemed to all lead into middle of the room not allowing pedestrian traffic to flow properly. This was before start of the game. Try and go to washroom and get a drink at intermission and you get back to your seat took till half way through 2nd period. Was worse for ladies trying to get to washrooms. Any plans of trying to meet up with friends or family at any intermission was quickly stopped once you entered the sea of humanity even if they were only a section or two near us. Had one drink in order not to have to head to washrooms and people that did go up to use them said people were entering though exit doors to beat line ups and not enough trash containers. They were over flowing! When leaving it was easier and faster to exit building and walk outside to the large crowd at the LRT.3 trains before we got on and there was thousands still waiting. Good thing the Oilers WON!

    Brutal Line Up

by Red coat on 11/1/23Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

It all started with the long line ups to get into the stadium. Then event longer lines for beer, food and washroom. I stood in a good line up only to find out liquor wasn't sold. Then liquor line ups were long and slow. A lot of the lines ups could have been freed up if they used beer carts or beer trays. I feel the the over crowding on the concourse was a huge safety risk. I sure did like the pricing of liquor and food in comparison to Roger's Center. The jet fly by could have better center to the stadium.

    Pretty not bad

by Lavo on 11/1/23Commonwealth Stadium / Stade du Commonwealth - Edmonton

Gate description on ticket didn’t match venue signage. Seemed to create some chaos to enter the stadium. Getting a beverage, food, or a short line for a bathroom was impossible.
