New York Rangers History
The Rangers, one of the Original Six NHL teams, were founded in 1926 by Tex Rickard. According to legend, the New York media nicknamed the team “Tex's Rangers,” a play on the famed law enforcers Texas Rangers.
The team has won four Stanley Cup Championships, the first of which came in only their second season (1928) and the most recent in 1994, beating Vancouver in Game 7 to break a 54-year drought and send Cup-starved fans into a frenzy. The Rangers have also taken home four Presidents’ Trophies and won eight divisional championships—most recently winning both for the 2023-2024 season.
The Rangers' 2017-2018 campaign broke a string of seven consecutive seasons in which the team reached the Playoffs—including the 2013-2014 campaign, which ended in a five-game series loss to the Los Angeles Kings in the Stanley Cup Final.
Among the Hall of Famers to don the Rangers sweater are Andy Bathgate, Eric Lindros, Phil Esposito, and Wayne Gretzky. Twelve players have had their number retired by the team: Bathgate, Ed Giacomin, Rod Gilbert, Adam Graves, Harry Howell, Brian Leetch, Mark Messier, Jean Ratelle, Mike Richter, Vic Hadfield, Henrik Lundqvist and Wayne Gretzky. Herb Brooks (1937-2003), who coached the Rangers from 1981-1985, also coached the U.S. Olympic hockey team to its "Miracle on Ice" victory over the Soviet Union and on to a gold medal in the 1980 Winter Olympic Games in Lake Placid, N.Y.

Game was the slowest that I've seen the Rangers skate this year. Refs didn't help at all, bad calls on both sides of the Ice. Defense was slow to the puck, and a couple of bad turnovers.
I enjoyed the pregame. Didn’t like the D.J. Enjoyed the kids hockey. Overall it’s very Expressive for food and store merchandise. Plus you don’t take Cash. Thank you for having me at the game 🙏

What a great game. I took someone who has never been to MSG or a hockey game. It was double the enjoyment. He was amazed at the crowd reactions. The goal song. And the win. But he really liked the Camaraderie of the people around us. High fiving, talking, he was like this is the opposite of what he thought nyc was like. He is a bigger rangers fan now. I also help two other people understand the game.

Our first time at Madison Square Gardens and the crowd and atmosphere was excellent! . All the extra activities ware really entertaining as well! Will be doing thia experience again soon!
First time visit to Madison Square Garden and thoroughly enjoyed the experience and watching the Ice Hockey, not the cheapest tickets around the NHL to purchase.
Buying tickets was easy and straightforward, though choosing seats was less straightforward and should have been easier. I would have been happy to pay more for tickets I if I had found it easier to navigate the seating plan for the arena before buying. Checking in and tickets in my phones ‘wallet’ reassured me of the process. Ice Hockey was a blast!!

Too much going on not related to Hockey. Sad that all noise is orchestred. The burger was great though
58 years old very first Hockey game at MSG, seen a few NJ Devils game in Newark but not the Rangers. Took my daughter for opening night. We had a blast
