New York Liberty History
The New York Liberty are one of three active founding franchises in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The Liberty have made six WNBA Finals appearances, in 1997, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2023 and 2024, and topped the Eastern Conference seven times. In 2023, the team captured the in-season Commissioner's Cup behind a Finals MVP performance by Jonquel Jones, and later, Breanna Stewart became the first Liberty player to win the WNBA Most Valuable Player award. New York returned to the Commissioner’s Cup Final in 2024, but fell to the Minnesota Lynx. The two teams met again in the 2024 WNBA Finals, where the Liberty claimed their first title. Jones was named the series MVP, and after the season, Stewart was selected to the All-WNBA First Team while Jones and Sabrina Ionescu made the All-WNBA Second Team.

Attending a NY Liberty game at Barclays is super fun and energetic. Lots going on and the Liberty team keep the spectators enaged.
WNBA and the NYL are amazing!! However the stadium experience is terrible. It takes a long time to get into the stadium as there’s only one entry for the thousands of fans to get into the game and by the time I get to my seats it’s already halfway through the first quarter at best. I’ve been to 3 Liberty games and this is always the case. The Liberty are such a great team and the players are phenomenal. I just wish the system and process to get into the game was smoother.
The girls was great, the entertainment was great, the stadium looked awesome.
WNBA is lit. Top two teams battled for the win. Liberty vs. Sun. Ellie the elephant, hardest workin mascot alive, was entertaining the crowd during down time.
We arrived and my weren't coming up but there was no issue - the people at the door sent me in and over to the box office where a very helpful employee showed me that the tickets hadn't downloaded into the wallet, and we went in to our seats. All the employees were helpful and efficient, plus nice! Barclays was rocking even though the outcome wasn't the one we came for - but we had a great time anyway!
I love my Liberty Team! Disappointed they lost to Connecticut! Many people around us was rooting for them at every turn. We enjoyed ourselves! We had great seats and look forward to the next game!
With mobile tickets, access was quick and good. But security took a bottle of water from us. It is something that we do not understand because once inside you can buy bottles of water in the numerous stores available. The match was incredible.
Great time to be a Liberty fan! #1 Won by 20 then 2 nights later won again (against the Wings) Playoffs here we go!!! 🏀
The energy in the arena was great. Electricity in the building felt amazing
Great game! The teams are incredibly talented. Fun and energetic crowd. Ellie is the best mascot in sports-period! It’s time for the WNBA to start paying their athletes equitably.
Was a fun game. Good crowd, noisy, basketball was fun to watch. I would go again. Only thing lacking was a variety of team clothing in the team store. Nothing available anywhere else in New York. 😕
This game was one to watch it was amazing!! The vibes are immaculate and NYL game is always a fun experience
My hubby and I went to our very first NY Liberty game on July 11th. This was his first time at Barclays Center. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and were excited to see the Liberty win their game. We look forward to more NY Liberty games in our future. Go Liberty!
The lines moved quickly for entry, food, and merchandise. There was a bit of confusion when purchasing from the retail store due to the crowd and small amount of cashiers. I wasn’t aware ahead of time that cash isn’t allowed for any purchases. I was pre charged $20 at the “corner store” in order to gain entry for item selections. I chose 2 $8 sodas but still have a $20 charge on my credit card. Also the store required us to remove the caps from the bottled soda. As I had a child with me it was extremely inconvenient to be carrying purchases from the gift shop, food from concession, 2 open bottles of soda, and make sure my child can maneuver through an unfamiliar crowd. The arena is great. The staff was pleasant. The event was exactly as I wanted. I’ll give it 8/10
All the lines were extremely long even the AMEX line which was a bit unusual. Once inside the game was great, thankful it was a family event so no one was smoking weed, and my family and I had a wonderful time.
Great vibes the crowd was amazing the game was great just a real NYC experience this what we live for
I was always into basketball growing up, usually watched the NBA never the WNBA, It wasn't until about high school I watch a few WNBA games. Dad always said he would take me to one but never got the opportunity too. Although I lost the love for basketball and picked up a different sport (Flag Football), seeing the girls my age playing basketball in college and getting offers and expanding the game for basketball made me start to love it and miss it again. So I decided to go to a NY Liberty game. Especially since I was born and raised in NY and it did not disappoint. It was a great experience. The food was good, the entertainment was there, the jokes. The old ladies popping it while dancing on the court. I was very shocked that I haven't experienced this earlier. I loved how this one player played, Number 35. I do not know her name but right after the game finished I went straight to the store in the Barclays and bought her jersey. Def going to be keeping an eye out on her and learning and supporting her as a player. Can't wait to go back to another game, looking to buy closer seat tickets.
I went to my first ever liberty ty game in May against phoneix the atmosphere was incredible. I returned for a another game last Tuesday against minnesota I just love the atmosphere at barclays. I will be going to one more regular season game next month
Enjoyed the game, great seats. Can't wait for the next one
