New York Liberty History
The New York Liberty are one of three active founding franchises in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). The Liberty have made six WNBA Finals appearances, in 1997, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2023 and 2024, and topped the Eastern Conference seven times. In 2023, the team captured the in-season Commissioner's Cup behind a Finals MVP performance by Jonquel Jones, and later, Breanna Stewart became the first Liberty player to win the WNBA Most Valuable Player award. New York returned to the Commissioner’s Cup Final in 2024, but fell to the Minnesota Lynx. The two teams met again in the 2024 WNBA Finals, where the Liberty claimed their first title. Jones was named the series MVP, and after the season, Stewart was selected to the All-WNBA First Team while Jones and Sabrina Ionescu made the All-WNBA Second Team.

Barclays Center is the downtown Brooklyn home of the New York Liberty. Since hosting the team’s homecoming game in 2021, Barclays Center has housed plenty of playoff action for the Liberty, including two WNBA Finals games in 2023 and three in their 2024 championship series. The downtown Brooklyn digs, which the Liberty share with the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets, can house 17,732 at capacity. Led by New York Liberty mascot Ellie the Elephant, home games at Barclays Center will leave fans quaking with excitement.

The vibes were amazing. The NY Liberty fans were phenomenally active with the Defense chants & NY Liberty chants as well as others. The stress, adrenaline rush & finally excitement emotions were at an all Time high. I was Blessed to be there at game 5 & see them get their 1st Championship WNBA win. Glory to God. Congratulations NY Liberty. #EQUALITY

I had an a amazing time what a nail biter . It was also an amazing atmosphere and NY was most definitely in the building . Loved it all except the seats in Barclays are sooo small and uncomfortable it was so hard sitting through OT in those seats. But witnessing and being apart of history made it all worth while!
As a long time New York Liberty fan and season ticket holder, being in the arena when they won their first championship was an incredible experience!
We did it! JOB DONE!!! I’m so proud of this team. It was a hard fought season and post season but we came through in the end. So happy for the Liberty and the city!
I've become a fan of the Liberty over the past few years (I get to brag I was here before the CC hype) Every game is amazing and the energy is so fun. It's a great team, with a great crowd, the Liberty never disappoint!!

My first liberty game, but not my first time at Barclays. It’s a great arena and the energy and fun was fell throughout. Looking forward to going back to a couple of Nets games.
Went to game 1 & 2 at Barclay's. Game 1 had me on the edge of my seat. Those last 3 minutes were insane. Game 2 had the house screaming. Never been so active as a fan, dancing, vibing, screaming "defense!" Loved Ellie, the dancers/musical guests. How did I not know this was happening at these games? First time watching this year and I'm hooked Keep it up ladies! Let's go Game 3 tonight I'm gonna be screaming at the TV I wish I could have gone to support you in Minnesota. Let's go Liberty!!!

We had the best time at the Liberty finals game! From the game itself to the music and entertainment, the vibe was electrifying. Barclays is a clean and well-organized venue. Everyone should come out and support these phenomenal athletes!

Game 1 of was wnba finals was sooooo much fun. It was my first wnba game and it was great. The only downside was that we lost in overtime, but the atmosphere was electric!! I loved it!
once inside, there was lots of lovely food options and it was very easy to get to my seat. it was easy to order drinks and food and never felt like I was waiting for a long time. however, there wasn’t much organization just outside Barclays. there was a gate that separated the crowd from the lines that entire the stadium, however outside that gate there was zero organization and there was no clarity on where people should wait or stand or what direction we were moving in. this large crowd just waiting in a group just outside the gate can have a possibility of danger. I would suggest having a better organization of the crowd entering Barclays.

Great game with the Liberty giving us a win! Slight opportunity with the venue, surrounding chairs had the towel giveaways when I went to get 2, one for my husband and I the employees giving them out said no. Other than that, solid experience can’t wait to attend more games.
I have been a fan of the W since 1997 and finally was able to fly from Puerto Rico to see my 2 favorite teams in action. The game was amazing! The Vibe in the Barclays was incredible and I really enjoyed the venue. What a great game!!! My Liberty team is going for the Championship this year! Thank you for an incredible night!~
