Finally, a Nutcracker performance without cans of pop opening and rustling potato chip bags. The Orpheum theatre is a lovely step back in time. Our ushers were helpful and polite. The ballet dancers are very talented. The atmosphere was very classy. My daughter and I had a lovely time. So far, this has been the best Nutcracker performance we have experienced on the gulf coast.
Very great experience, my daughter and I have gone to see the Nutcracker since she was 5 years old and she is now 23 years old and still loves going. I have seen other performances but this was best by far, the location and time of performance afforded us to be able to go to dinner and then walk through the Roosevelt Hotel to see the Christmas decorations. The biggest highlight was being surprised to see my girlfriends daughter perform in the ballet.
I thought it was likea dance school review. Not profesional. we were so disappointed and left before the end was disappointed there was not a live orchestra. Too many children in the production. I thought it would be more profesional dancers. The way ir was advertised, it was misleading
This was my granddaughters’ first time seeing The Nutcracker and they were mesmerized! The dancers were excellent and it was definitely a magical experience for them. The youngest one (8 years old) asked for a nutcracker from the boutique downstairs because she “wanted to remember this day for the rest of my life”!! I say that was a positive experience!!
I absolutely love the Orpheum Theater as a venue for classical ballet repertoire. NOBT's The Nutcracker was a wonderful showcase for the talented dancers and students. It has been a Christmas tradition for several years now and I wouldn't miss it!
We had a great time! The show was great as always and we continued our tradition of seeing the Nutcracker each holiday season. My family and I will return again next year!
Won’t be returning to see NO Ballet Theatre again. The ballet dancers were average. Costumes and sets were high school theatre quality. The Sugar Plum Fairy messed up twice! The ballet started 20 min late. Should have known it would be particularly bad when the guy stated during the opening announcement that he hoped “today’s performance was better than last night’s.” Comparing this to the Moscow Ballet Company that has performed at the Saenger, I was very disappointed. Especially since their prices were comparable.
Excellent, beautiful costumes. Orpheum theater creates elegant space for a lovely performance.
A charming production at a landmark theatre in New Orleans. Enjoyable evening.
