New Jersey Devils History
The New Jersey Devils were born in 1982, the third incarnation of a franchise that began as the Kansas City Scouts (1974-76) before spending six years in Denver as the Colorado Rockies. The arrival of president/general manager Lou Lamoriello in 1987 started the franchise's rise to the NHL elite. The Devils made the playoffs in 21 of the next 24 seasons, including five trips to the Stanley Cup Final.
The Devils made it as far as the conference finals in the 1987-1988 and 1993-1994 seasons, preparing them for their historic run the following year in which they won their first Stanley Cup Championship, sweeping the Detroit Red Wings.
The Devils returned to the Stanley Cup Final in 2000, dispatching the Dallas Stars in six games on an iconic double-overtime Cup-clinching goal by Jason Arnott. The next season, as the best offensive team in the NHL, they returned to the Final.
The Devils' stretch of dominance was far from over, though. They won their third Stanley Cup Championship in 2003, spoiling the Anaheim Ducks’ first-ever playoff run with a Game 7 shutout orchestrated by Martin Brodeur. To date, the club has won three Stanley Cup Championships and five Eastern Conference Championships.
In 2022, the Devils returned to the second round of the playoffs—their first time since 2011. Led by young stars Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier, the Devils defeated their long-time rivals the New York Rangers in the first round, before losing their next series to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Hockey games are NOW my favorite sporting events to go to. An amazing game Devils vs Rangers and had an awesome time.
Not the best draft party I’ve been to. Not enough seating and cameramen were blocking the tv screens so we couldn’t see the draft pick.
The Pony was a fun venue, but there seriously needed to be a giant outdoor screen to watch the broadcast. A better setup was needed for the shirt booth as well. More room was needed overall - too crowded. Couldn't hear announcements of when the player and alum were available. Better planning needed for the next event.
We had a good time, made the best of it but there’s room for improvement. It was very crowded and the lines were the problem. The Verizon Vaucher line and shirt line was insane and if you didn’t get inside early forget about hearing or seeing anything
Event was fun with music & special fun setups for families.
Overall goo party. Positive side Dougie Hamilton & Dano great ambassadors for the team great venue and party....negative side fans outside no TV or screen for draft call music blaring couldn't hear the pick WIFI bad cant see on phone spend $$ next year setup a screen cater to fans outside too. Verizon Tshirt event unprofessional just handout the tshirts this game of waiting up to an hour in a few lines to get a pressed tshirt not fun fans clogging up walking avenues.
From the parking garage to the seats in the Arena, my family and I had an enjoyable experience to the main event that featured my kids’ NJ Devils against my beloved Montréal Canadiens.
I enjoy arriving a bit early and going to the dining room, the atmosphere and food are all great. So is the service. Thank you, Tim! Every time I (a Canadiens fan), show up at the Prudential, I feel accepted. The many Devils fans are polite. This is not the experience at the MSG, where the Rangers fans are unfriendly and verbally abusive towards people wearing the opposing team’s jerseys. I think the Prudential Center staff do an excellent job. It’s a great facility.
Great place to see sports, concerts, etc. Our seats were great. The concession stands were well stocked and the employees great.
Lots of fun. Even worth going to NJ for. Took path train to Newark.
I went to my first devils game and I have to say it was a lot of fun. Recommend going even if fan of other team
First time watching an entire hockey game in person or on television. Had a great time, great seats and nice atmosphere. Would do it again.
the seats we had were great was able to see all the action on both sides of the ice some of the arena food wasn't that expensive would definitely go back to another game
I'm a huge Devils fan but The Rock is a great place to take the family for a hockey game.
Prudential center was great! Parking was easy once we found the correct lot and views were perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire game and will be back soon.
There was virtually no enforcement of the mask mandate ordered by the mayor. The one time I saw security try to enforce the mandate, the crowd screamed "Let him stay" and security gave up. The individual then began to bang heavily on the glass. Security then removed him from the section, but then he was put on the video screen cheering for the Devils.!!!! This is horrible!!!!! Also my rep never called me back when I left him a message that I wanted to purchase tickets as a Christmas gift.
Last minute thrills to win the game in OT. Awesome game and a way to end the year.
Had a blast brought out a couple of my friends one of them first hockey game ever! He loved it ! We enjoy the seats , the atmosphere , and the win in overtime!
The parking details were unclear. It looked like we were supposed to be in a parking garage but the address took us to a lot- when we got there they said it was the wrong one and we had to back out and have everyone behind us move. Then we had to go to another lot. When we checked out they didn't know how to process the receipt on my phone and we had to wait for the attendant to call management and resolve. There needs to be more clarity on the details and location of parking at Prudential center. Nobody wants to drive around Newark at night unnecessarily.
3rd live game in 3 weeks. Seats we’re great. Devils at least made it interesting. They need to show up for 3 periods. FYI. If you haven’t gone to a game in awhile, the gateway center is closed for renovations. This means you’ll have to walk the streets to the Rock from The train station.
