NEON TREES IN CONCERT:

If Neon Trees' kaleidoscopic image is a perfect fit for their name, the band's sound is an even more fitting realization of their moniker, all punchy drums and prismatic synth lines.  Ever since being tapped by the Killers as openers on their2008 tour, the Trees have been an impressive live presence, delivering adrenalin-filled shows full of dance-ready songs like "Animal" and "1983." Frontman Tyler Glenn floored fans with his showmanship and intensity on the band's 2013 tour dates, and with a new album due out in 2014, he'll be bringing it harder than ever on the Pop Psychology Tour 2014.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Initially formed in California by singer Tyler Glenn and guitarist Chris Allen, Neon Trees soon moved to Provo, immersing themselves in the Utah Music scene and making a name for themselves in the region. After touring with the Killers in 2008, the band signed to Mercury Records and released their 2010 debut full-length Habits, an impressive first effort that spawned several singles and earned the band their first No. 1 with "Animal." 2012 follow-up Picture Show was an even bigger success, leading to tour dates with a slew of big name acts including the Offspring, Maroon 5, and Taylor Swift. With their third album Pop Psychology due out in 2014, the band are on the road once again for another high-octane tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Neon Trees' performance is always so energetic and interesting, it really does make the experience unforgettable. Tyler Glen is a performance genius and his voice is like butter."

"The lead singer is a fantastic performer. His dancing is contagious and makes me happy. They vary the songs, so they are not exact repeats of the CD version, and they go all out every night they perform."

"Neon trees put on an absolutely great show! The lead singer has ridiculously awesome stage presence and his energy is infectious. I would definitely see them again. "

    MC RUT SHOULDA HEADLINED!

by 123od on 12/11/10Showbox at the Market - Seattle

Fences and MC RUT were amazing. Middle Class Rut will be the next big band. They rock harder than anyone, especially for being a 2 piece. Left a song and a half into neon trees. Cocky stage presence..and the singer was pitchy. Worth $10.77 to see MC RUT alone. Love it.

Great show, only downside is that Neon Trees started to play later than I expected.

    amazing

This concert was a blast!! The only part I regiment is getting a spot in the middle of the floor. Bassist side wasn't as accessible by bands.

    Poor Sound Quality

by TTLC on 12/11/10Showbox at the Market - Seattle

For a new band with only one release and a 10 song playlist, it shouldn't take until the fifth song to dial the mix in. Couldn't hear the guitars and vocals were distorted. It's a shame because it looked like the band was delivering a good show.

    Best first concert ever!

by goatman95111 on 12/10/10McMenamins Crystal Ballroom - Portland

I've never attended a concert up until this one, especially with a date. However, the Crystal Ballroom was the perfect setting. Tokyo Police Club was an outstanding beginning act to warm up the crowd, which never left anyone bored. Once Neon Trees was on deck, the event refused to slow down. It's obvious this band knows how to get the crowd involved, but still keep things under control so as not to cause any problems. The band's musical talent and dedicated preparation were obvious. Furthermore, the event staff were squared away, and kept things well under control. I have always been impressed with the event staff at the Bagdad, and the Crystal Ballroom is no different. I can't wait to attend next year's event.

Neon Trees have incredible talent & stage presence

by LizzLemon on 12/10/10McMenamins Crystal Ballroom - Portland

This concert was fantastic. Tyler Glenn has so much energy, enthusiasm and raw talent. His voice is even better live than on a produced CD. He got the crowd amped and rowdy. He got close to the fans, close enough to touch. He was all over the stage, giving everyone a view and some interaction. The rest of the band performed extremely well also. Everything about the performance start to finish was top-notch. Amazing.

    Neon Trees stole my heart

by laurenleone on 12/10/10McMenamins Crystal Ballroom - Portland

The moment I bough the album, I couldn't stop listening to it on repeat...I saw them play on Conan (first live performance I watched), and started getting really excited for the show I'd already bought tickets to. I spent the rest of the week hunting down videos (the acoustic version of "Animal" on Billboard is incredible). But that performance couldn't have prepared me for actually seeing them live. The consistent level of energy was unbelievable! I sang at the top of my lungs the whole time - just like I've been doing in my car. One of the best shows I've ever been to.

Neon Trees Rocked, Not So Much 4 Tokyo Police Club

by MrsSellman on 12/10/10McMenamins Crystal Ballroom - Portland

So we went to see Neon Trees and Tokyo Police Club. So Neon Trees killed, like I expected, but Tokyo Police Club sucked. Maybe it is because I am getting older, and my husband hated them too.. I thought that you had to be really good to play at the Crystal Ballroom, but I guess not.

    Great Show!

by AAA075 on 12/10/10McMenamins Crystal Ballroom - Portland

The Crystal Ballroom is a perfect venue - both bands had great energy and played to the crowd REALLY well. It was appropriate for an "ALL AGES" show but it still ROCKED! You could tell how much the Neon Trees love Portland and that makes it even better! Elaine was amazing on the drums - really cool to see a woman drummer who can hold it down!

    Great Music-Great Show

by Ax01 on 12/10/10McMenamins Crystal Ballroom - Portland

We went to see Tokyo Police Club, a band that my boyfriend and I both like a lot, and they delivered, the music was great, they performed well, the crowd was into it, we couldn't have been happier (ok, would have been happier if we weren't the only people dancing...but their music isn't super dancable, so I'll keep my opinions to myself on that count). I was not looking forward to Neon Trees, I spent some time listening to them and just couldn't bring myself to like them. They were totally new to my boyfriend. The first 2 songs, their hits didn't impress me much, we decided to listen to 2 more songs before leaving, just to give them a fair chance. OMG, they kept getting better and better. And they put on a great show, really perform for the crowd. So, overall, loved it! Still no one danced...why Portland people? Why does no one dance here?

    Neon Trees loves you, too

by steadybeatz on 12/8/10The Intersection - Grand Rapids

Honestly, since the first time I've seen this band (I've seen them 3 times now, I believe, in the past year or so), they have had such an amazing presence on stage, and they are such amazing people in real life. I have gone to many shows in my short life; everything from Chuck Berry to The Jonas Brothers to Jimmy Eat World. I've met tons of bands, and out of all of them, I think that the folks in Neon Trees are the nicest, most down-to-earth people - and not just as celebrities, but as real people. They just talked to everyone like they've known them for years. And when you're at their show, they make you feel like you're an integral part of their set. I will continuously spend my money on these guys (no matter how little of it I have) because my friends and I hold them very dear to our hearts.

    Neon Trees was Great!!

by WhattheRock on 12/6/10Newport Music Hall - Columbus

Neon Trees really put on a great show. They had great stage presence and got a lot of crowd involvement with all of their high-energy music and attitude. Everyone was dancing and clapping and singing along, even if they didn't know all of the songs! Really, a great time! Opening Act, New Politics, was also really great to see. Even though these guys are fairly newer, they still have a great stage presence and are really engaging.

    Neon Trees are great entertainers!

by Audigirl17 on 12/2/10The Intersection - Grand Rapids

The Neon Trees gave a wonderful performance. I would recommend anyone who loves a high energy, crowd interacting show to attend a Neon Trees performance. Tyler Glenn expresses his sincere love for music and entertainment, while the drummer, Elaine, rocks out an awesome beat. Young the Giant was the opening band. They are great! They sound like a mixture of Vampire Weekend and Kings of Leon. Only down side of this event was that the Intersection stated that the doors open at 6:30 pm. In reality the doors did not open until 7:15pm. I had to stand outside in below freezing weather almost an hour. Not cool....freezing!
