Video display content lacking
by Bbfaninnc on 3/19/18Spectrum Center - CharlotteRating: 2 out of 5Upon first walking into the Spectrum, one’s first opinion is that the huge block of multi-screen video displays hanging over the court looks pretty impressive. Very large, bright, really state of the art. But after watching 6 games there over 2 days it was very obvious that it is both lacking some key technologies and it was used very poorly. The replays for every big play took way too long to come up....in most cases they were being showed during live action after the other team got to the other end of the court. It was minutes before we saw replays of any video reviews, looking for who touched a ball last or a possible flagrant foul. And how can there be no possession arrow on any of the displays? There was a key held ball late in a close game, and you had to wait for a minute to see who the refs were going to give the ball to. Really, no possession arrow. When the clock goes under 1 minute to play, it can’s update quick enough to smoothly show tenths of seconds. The clock just stutters every time. It’s like be teleported back to the 1980s. Finally, whoever was making the decision of when to have a live peak in on other NCAA basketball games clearly has no knowledge of basketball. Let’s show you the teams during a time out at a site with 5 seconds to go in a one point game.....and show them for a good two full minutes with no action, but then cut away just as that game was going to end. There were more boos from the stands about the timing of the cut away then there were for any play of the game. And video segment at halftime with the game’s highlights....wow, who picked those? Clips of three average plays, then a clip of cheerleaders, a clip of the band, a clip of some random fan in the stands, and then a 3/4 court heave that missed by 10 feet at the half time buzzer. First half highlights, really???
Then the mile long bathroom lines that took forever.
Other than that, a nice, modern, clean stadium with good court views....
