About

Nav on Tour

Toronto MC Nav had just dropped his Top 10 debut album, Reckless, in May 2018, but in early 2019 he subverted expectations by announcing his retirement on Instagram. The surprise declaration was intended as a show of solidarity with his friend and collaborator Lil Uzi Vert, who'd announced his own defection from the music industry. Alas, the disappearing act lasted for all of two months — and it could have very well been a savvy marketing ploy to give Nav's recently released second album, Bad Habits, a boost. But if it was a trick, it worked. The star-studded record debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 and featured guest spots from the likes of Gunna, Future, Meek Mill and early supporter The Weeknd. For a victory lap Nav hit the road in the spring, headlining theaters and superclubs across North America with fellow Toronto rapper Killy in tow.

Nav Background

The success of Drake and The Weeknd has transformed Toronto into an epicenter of moody hip-hop and arty R&B and few local artists have capitalized on this moment quite like Nav. Born Navraj Singh Goraya, the Punjabi-Canadian rapper was among the countless MCs uploading their tracks to SoundCloud in the mid-'10s — but he was one of the very few to receive a coveted co-sign from Drake himself (not to mention a buzz-generating Snapchat shout-out from Kylie Jenner). After being featured on Drake's OVO Sound radio show, Nav's 2015 debut single "Take Me Simple" would go on to rack up 15 million plays on SoundCloud. Nav subsequently signed on with The Weeknd's XO imprint, scored features with Travis Scott and dropped two mixtapes in 2017, all of which led to his winning the Juno Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year. But that was all a warm-up for his two official albums, the aforementioned Reckless and chart-topping Bad Habits, which highlight his chill delivery infused with equal doses of swagger and sensitivity.

    Wonderful, but crowded

by Brandon Gas on 6/16/19The Rooftop at Pier 17 - New York

Of course with Nav now hitting number 1 on the charts, its no surprise that his concert will be crowded. I had bought the pass to cut the line, but once the concert started all the teens pushed their way into the crowd. Definently think it should've been an 18+ event. The music was amazing, killy killed it, then nav was so fire i cried before it rained. Overall, 8.3/10

    Show and Improve

    by j. p. on 6/16/19The Rooftop at Pier 17 - New York

NAV has come a long way. The show was great; didn’t even need any guest while he was performing. Just like most of his music, NAV is fine on his own. I’m sick now because it started raining towards the end but it was worth it. Pier 17 is also beautifully designed. Thank you 🙏🏽

Show was amazing, but crowd was unappealing

by GS on 6/12/19The Fillmore Detroit presented by Cricket Wireless - Detroit

Nav and the show was amazing, but the moshpit was insane. Couple fights broke out, some struggling to breathe, and this was extremely unfair treatment considering I paid for the VIP experience. Had bruises on my knees, forearms, and entire body was sore including ribs from trying to push back from all those that were pushing ahead (I was front row). There should have most definitely been a sectioned off area for meet and greet VIP attendees and this was a huge disappointment for us.

    BEST CONCERT EVER.

by Stellkempins on 6/10/19House of Blues Chicago presented by Cricket Wireless - Chicago

I bought two VIP meet & greet packages with the early ticket access code I received because I purchased NAV merchandise. The process of buying the tickets was extremely easy and fast. As for the concert itself, it was amazing and truly the best show i’ve ever attended. The M&G was very organized and enjoyable. It was a great time to chat with NAV & take pictures. My friend & I were able to snag front row spots at House of Blues and it really was the best venue to see NAV at. It was such a personal experience and the performance was energetic and amazing. I will 100% be back to House of Blues Chicago & I look forward to seeing NAV again in the future.
