About

Nav on Tour

Toronto MC Nav had just dropped his Top 10 debut album, Reckless, in May 2018, but in early 2019 he subverted expectations by announcing his retirement on Instagram. The surprise declaration was intended as a show of solidarity with his friend and collaborator Lil Uzi Vert, who'd announced his own defection from the music industry. Alas, the disappearing act lasted for all of two months — and it could have very well been a savvy marketing ploy to give Nav's recently released second album, Bad Habits, a boost. But if it was a trick, it worked. The star-studded record debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 and featured guest spots from the likes of Gunna, Future, Meek Mill and early supporter The Weeknd. For a victory lap Nav hit the road in the spring, headlining theaters and superclubs across North America with fellow Toronto rapper Killy in tow.

Nav Background

The success of Drake and The Weeknd has transformed Toronto into an epicenter of moody hip-hop and arty R&B and few local artists have capitalized on this moment quite like Nav. Born Navraj Singh Goraya, the Punjabi-Canadian rapper was among the countless MCs uploading their tracks to SoundCloud in the mid-'10s — but he was one of the very few to receive a coveted co-sign from Drake himself (not to mention a buzz-generating Snapchat shout-out from Kylie Jenner). After being featured on Drake's OVO Sound radio show, Nav's 2015 debut single "Take Me Simple" would go on to rack up 15 million plays on SoundCloud. Nav subsequently signed on with The Weeknd's XO imprint, scored features with Travis Scott and dropped two mixtapes in 2017, all of which led to his winning the Juno Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year. But that was all a warm-up for his two official albums, the aforementioned Reckless and chart-topping Bad Habits, which highlight his chill delivery infused with equal doses of swagger and sensitivity.

The experience was amazing really good performance and show

by Gabe on 6/23/19The Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater - Miami Beach

One thing that should be fixed is the separation of crowds that was not good crowd should have been mixed in the front

    Unforgettable

by Eddy on 6/23/19The Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater - Miami Beach

Venue was small but comfortable. There was a little mix up regarding the meet and greet and it was moved to after the show. Other than that the performance by Nav was one to remember. Definitely returning for his future shows!

    NAV - New York concert

by Mr. Good Cat 🐈 on 6/22/19The Rooftop at Pier 17 - New York

Music is like an outlet to me where it challenges currently popularized social roles n expectations. Hearing artists lyrics like NAV help me face my vulnerabilities and double confirms on my thoughts and beliefs aren't completely out of this world... if that makes sense any sense at all lol. There is no secrete to a great show; other than artists speaking your language and tries to connect with crowd/audiences. But since this is a feedback I'm giving to Ticketmaster on how your company can host an event better, I'll provide with my opinion. 1st People who were there... I'm sure there were many different types of ppl that attended the event who brought with them their everyday real life problems. They were most like there to get away from their real life problems/struggles and wanted to get away in hopes of finding their definition of "fantasy". If you read between those lines, their expectation ultimately had to be bloated high. 2nd these people are most likely all visiting the venue for the first time; therefore, it's kind of hard to let yourself completely "go" when it's their first time visiting the Pier venue. Sometimes it's hard for me to let myself go even at places I go regularly, so that's a problem & I don't think I'm the only one. So how does Ticketmaster try to solve 1. Ppl coming to events with their bloated expectations & 2. Visiting unfamiliar places? I suppose there are a couple of ways for you to do that. Set expectations of the crowd for them not to embarrassed to on going wild. Eased them into participate on being wild by starting small. Make tickets only purchasable by 18 years old and older and have NAV ask for females in the crowd to get on stage and do a pole dance inside a cage. Then maybe later on NAV ask girls in the crowd to get take their tops off. I know it sounds crazy but if they were there for NAV music I'm sure they wouldnt mind. Then camera crew focus on them and out them on jumbotron. If I am wrong then maybe Ticketmaster can hire strippers pretending to be NAV fans on front stage and get then naked during concerts and out them on jumbotron. If that's too hard, I suppose pass out NAV bikinis and ask good looking females to would you mind wearing them on front stage n put them on jumbotron -- ppl probably won't be able to why there are naked girls in stage and on jumbotron, but the important thing is that they are there. Speaking of jumbotron, why not show artists lyrics when performing a song. I feel like with jumbotron technology we currently have we are not taking full advantage of it. Sorry for my feedback not being PG, but in my defense, you asked for my opinion. Oh, another thing, can we have smoke machines blowing smokes to make event venue a little but darker? Or provide masks to people on front stage? (i.e. Standford Prison Experiment)

    Auto tune mumble rapping

by J. on 6/21/19The Fillmore Charlotte presented by Cricket Wireless - Charlotte

Title says it all. I clearly didn’t know what I was getting myself into. He used auto tune 100% of the time and had no presence or connection with the crowd.

by Hafis on 6/20/19The Fillmore Silver Spring presented by Cricket Wireless - Silver Spring

Solid opener, who was able to keep the crowd energized while we waited for Navraj. Only waited about 30 min from the end of the opener and nav entering the stage. Great set list and amazing vibes. Only regret Is not doing the meet and greet.

this show was ode lit tbh,

by C on 6/16/19The Rooftop at Pier 17 - New York

So first off you going to need a lot of strength to keep your position in the crowd. I was at the front of the concert and I'm 5'5 so it was rough for me to capture videos and pictures but I managed to feel me. other than it raining which isn't really no one's fault and the number of people that were trying to get close to the front this concert was mad valid
