Nashville Predators History

The Predators joined the NHL in 1998 during a two-year expansion that saw the League add the Atlanta Thrashers, Columbus Blue Jackets and Minnesota Wild. The team made its first trip to the Playoffs during the 2003-04 season, and proceeded to make the postseason six of the next seven seasons. Nashville won its first Playoff series against the Anaheim Ducks in 2011, and returned to the second round again the following spring.

Two seasons later, with Peter Laviolette as Head Coach, Nashville began their four-year run as a Stanley Cup contender. With P.K. Subban arriving ahead of the 2016-17 season to anchor the defense, the Preds upset the Chicago Blackhawks, St. Louis Blues and Anaheim Ducks in consecutive Playoff series to reach the 2017 Stanley Cup Final. That streak had two distinctions: It was the first time a No. 8 seed knocked out a top seed (the Blackhawks) and the Predators became the first team in two decades to win 10 consecutive home Playoff games.

Facing the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Stanley Cup Final, the Preds lost the first two games before storming back to take Games 3 and 4. After a decisive Pittsburgh home victory, the Penguins prevailed 2-0 in Game 6, with both goals coming in the final two minutes.

Filip Forsberg, who re-signed with the team for eight seasons in July 2022, is the Predators all-time leading scorer. Roman Josi, Pekka Rinne, Mike Fisher and Steve Sullivan have all won NHL awards, while Josi, Rinne and former captain Shea Weber have the distinction of being NHL First-Team All-Stars for the club. The Nashville Predators have made the Playoffs 15 times in their 24 seasons.

    The bottom line.

by brk0nthru on 1/19/10Sommet Center Nashville Predators - Nashville

It was my first hockey game and it was exciting. Although things got off to pretty slow start the Preds made it pretty interesting late in the game. I expected a little more fight out of them. I expected a win given the competition. The competition looked pretty good that night. Got to give it to Toronto for taking advantage of a mediocre performance on our part.

We had GREAT seats!! The Preds were just not on their game and looked tired. They missed passes and had slow goal shots. We loved where we were sitting (section 115 row P seats 6&7). Wish the Preds had won.

    Predators vs. Ducks -- 1/9/10

by MisterTaggert on 1/10/10Sommet Center Nashville Predators - Nashville

Predators games are always fun, even when they come out on the short end as they did Saturday night, losing 3-2 to Anaheim. Through a special offer, I got four (4) tickets and four food vouchers for around $32 each in section 315 (fifth row of the Shoot Twice Mezzanine).

    A Pretty Good Game...

by JelloKello on 1/8/10Sommet Center Nashville Predators - Nashville

...considering that the Preds were playing the last place team in the league (Hurricanes, 11-23-7 going into it). Attendance was a little on the low-side, but a decent turnout seeing as they were competing against the Alabama-Texas BCS game. You could tell that even with all the empty seats that all the die-hards were out as soon as the Preds scored their first goal; it was almost as loud in there as when Detroit was in town. Both teams played hard the whole 60 minutes, and you can't really ask for more than that. I also took a friend to her first hockey game, and she loved it! I think I finally found a buddy to go to games with. lol

    Sonnet Centre awesome

by Musicrowvirgin on 1/6/10Sommet Center Nashville Predators - Nashville

Booking the tickets for this event was a little tricky as I had not used the site before and there was a time restriction. Collecting the tickets from Will Call at the Centre couldn't have been easier, credit card in the machine, tickets printed out! The Sonnet centre is fantastic and the experience of our first ice hockey match was unforgetable. Ameneties were superb and the crowd was very entertaining. Just a shame the local team, Nashville lost!

    Preds / Flames 1/5/10

by UNCba78jd81 on 1/6/10Sommet Center Nashville Predators - Nashville

This was our first time to attend a Predators game. Reservations and pick-up at automated "will call" went very smoothly and we had very good seats. Also enjoyed the $2 concessions. Generally, the price of major league sports is prohibitive on a regular basis but the Tuesday discount is worth an occasional trip from Chattanooga to Nashville.
