Music was very good, acting was mixed

by JDMiaMom on 2/21/12Orpheum Theatre - Phoenix

The actor playing Henry Higgins was excellent, both in his acting and singing. Freddy's voice phenomenal, but he was a little stiff, like he was trying too hard. Eliza's singing voice was excellent, but her acting left much to be desired. Her interpretations of the character were way off, and she seemed stiff on stage. Get Me To The Church On Time was the best musical number in the show - it gave the feel of a real Broadway musical. Overall it was entertaining, and the Orpheum Theater is beautiful. We had a very good view of the stage from the balcony.

    wonderful treat!

    by Catie3 on 2/21/12Orpheum Theatre - Phoenix

The characters were superb! The voices and energy were amazing. I fell in love with the play all over again even though I've seen it many times. The Orpheum is the perfect place to see it. It became part of the play with its unique charm. What a great way to spend a Sunday!!!

    Outstanding Production

    by B8B9 on 2/20/12Orpheum Theatre - Phoenix

The play from start to finish was wonderful. The theatre could really improve their between acts coffee service. One person was trying to take orders, fill all the orders and take money. The only negative for the whole afternoon.

    My Fair Lady

    by Contessa12 on 2/20/12Orpheum Theatre - Phoenix

Show is terrific.! The English brogue took getting used to at the start but before long it was ok. I saw the original on Broadway as a kid and the movie many times. This is as good as the original. Kudos to the cast. Strong voices tells me they are all headed for the big white way!

    Absolutely awesome singing!

    by McLaren10 on 2/19/12Orpheum Theatre - Phoenix

Loved all of the characters! Their voices were wonderful and their harmonizing was perfection! Loved Freddy and Eliza. Overall, if you closed your eyes, you would believe that you were listening to the sound track of the movie. The costumes were stunning and the race day dresses were the absolute best! Loved the stage and the subtle changes between scenes. Overall, this was a wonderful rendition of the Broadway play and would highly recommend an evening out with a friend. Would see it again in a heartbeat! Thanks for an exceptionally entertaining evening!

    Orpheum acoustics need work

    by phil6279 on 2/19/12Orpheum Theatre - Phoenix

This is one of the great American musicals, and the actors who played Liza and her Dad were wonderful. However, the acoustics in the Orpheum Theatre really can't handle dialogue with a cockney accent. And the actor who played Henry Higgins was just fair. It would be worth seeing if the acoustics were better.

Would have been 4 stars EXCEPT...

by Qeditor on 2/19/12Orpheum Theatre - Phoenix

Enjoyed the performance - except for the totally distracting lav mics stuck on the lead actors foreheads! What is up with that?? Most noticeable on Henry Higgins. There must be a better way...technical director are you listening? The chorus was very good, as was Alf Dolittle. He made it look easy and I know it isn't. I would have liked to have felt more empathy for Eliza as she realizes that she is only a trophy for Higgins wager with Pickering ( since this is the major denouement) ... but I never really did. I liked Eliza but never really connected with her across the stage. The Freddie character, tho a small part, was well acted - great singing voice! That said, I thought the actor (Aurora) playing Eliza also did a creditable jub in her first major role - I will look for her again in other productions.

    Stunning sights and sounds

by JamesInMesaAZ on 2/18/12Orpheum Theatre - Phoenix

Stunning visual appeal in the costumes and set. The dancing was amazing, especially in the "Get Me To The Church" number. The leading lady was flawless in her accent change and vocal quality. Pitch perfect and on time. The orchestra was supportive but slightly too mechanical with the bass drum.

    I could have danced allnight.

by ILIV4IT on 1/29/12California Theatre of the Performing Arts - San Bernardino

The show was awesome we loved the costumes and the singers had great voices but it was a little hard to understand the talking I don't know if it was the English accents or the background music was to loud.

    Don't forget Freddie!

by wowimpressed on 1/17/12Rabobank Theatre - Bakersfield

I'm adding to my review: Freddie's rendition of "The Street Where You Live" was superb! We (party of 8) were impressed with his voice -- it was beautiful. That song was my son's favorite moment of the show -- very impressive voice. We also thought the young man who played the bartender was enjoyable to watch. He was excellent in one of the dance scenes as well. (We heard he's "Eliza"'s husband in real life.) Thoroughly enjoyed the performance. May travel to Los Angeles area to see the performance again.

    My Fair Lady was spectacular!

by sheza on 1/16/12Rabobank Arena Theater and Convention Center - Bakersfield

I was amazed and dazzled and had a smile on my face throughout the ENTIRE show. The actors were brilliant in their roles, and the two lead roles NAILED it!!! I left the show and went straight home and pulled out my "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and "My Fair Lady" DVD's to watch:)

    Impressed by production-principles, sets, costumes

by Foothillsinger on 1/15/12William Saroyan Theatre Fresno Convention & Entertainment Center - Fresno

It was so fun to have "Henry Higgins" from near where I live. Local boy makes good! A national tour and Fresno County is represented. For a small group the sets were well done and the quickness of the set changes was impressive. The costumes were magnificent. I don't think New York stage productions could do better. Really enjoyed myself and the ladies I went with all did too.
