About

My Chemical Romance are a rock band composed of lead vocalist Gerard Way, bassist Mikey Way and guitarists Ray Toro and Frank Iero. Formed in 2001 in New Jersey, MCR have become highly influential for their blend of rock, pop-punk and emo music along with unflinchingly open lyrics and theatrical live performances. Beginning with 2002’s I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, MCR have released four studio albums, two live recordings and three compilations. The band unveiled their major label debut, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, in 2004 behind their first charting singles, “I'm Not Okay (I Promise),” “Helena” and “The Ghost of You.” In 2006, MCR’s third album The Black Parade reached a career-high No. 2 on the Billboard 200, while lead single “Welcome to the Black Parade” peaked at No. 9 on the Hot 100. After touring 2010’s Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, MCR did not perform together again until 2019, followed by a reunion world tour between 2022 and 2023. The band headlined Las Vegas’ When We Were Young Festival in 2024. In 2025, My Chemical Romance embarked on a tour in celebration of the 20th anniversary of their landmark third studio album, The Black Parade.

  • Good Mix

    by Jules2201 on 4/4/11Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 4 out of 5

played new and old songs what i really enjoyed. audience rocked but i expected more party. band was amazing. 2 bands b4 main act did good job. as a german i´m used to a lil bit more party at a concert. to many teenies who did nor know yet how to rock a concert. FOX theatre is beautiful, very central (BART station 19th street oakland, transfer until nearly 1am) no lines in front of restrooms, clean, safe, line in front of entrance fast, no growdy

  • MCR ROCkED the BAY!!!!

by Coronita on 4/3/11Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

Great for MCR fans who followed each album. The fans who came out were all about the band and you could feel the energy in the building all the way up to the first guitar lick! Can't wait till they come back to the bay!

  • My Chem AWESOME

    by alyak88 on 4/3/11Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

My Chem has to be one of my all time favorite bands and they are deffinitely amazing to see live theyre fun and full of energy and they of course have an awesome set list of songs. Even with the sound not being the greatest in the fow theater it really didnt make much difference when it came to their performance

  • Killjoys make some noise!!

    by MCR4EverKate on 4/3/11Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

My first My Chemical Romance concert was awesome! Even though by the time we bought the tickets, our seats were in the noise-bleed section, Fox Theater in Oakland rocked! Gerard and the guys kept the crowd on their feet and shared the energy that filled the place. At times it was one big sing-along and I absolutely loved it! I would recommend My Chemical Romance to anyone who loves to rock!

  • Holy sh*t

by Anonymous on 4/2/11Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

I've been a MCR fan since their early days in 2002; this was the first time I've ever seen them perform and sweet God it was MAGNIFICENT. I have never endured such crowd abuse in my life and it was completely worth it. The opening acts pumped up the crowd for what I could already tell would be one hell of a show. Definitely going to see them again in the future!!

  • MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE -- Energetic Show!!!

by gregb on 4/2/11Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE return to touring with the release of their latest album. I must say I preferred the BLACK PARADE (songs and tour) but they included many of the songs from the past in this show so that was satisfying. The new stuff is okay but not as overly appealling as the last....and the last was more a "concept" album. The audience was crammed like sardines on the floor (but the Fox Theatre had plenty of security to keep an eye on everyone and make certain they had bottled water and were not crushed). Overall, I would give the band credit for delivering an energetic performance but it was obvious that the audience much preferred old music to new.

  • by savageXsarbear on 4/2/11Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

Even with balcony seats My Chemical Romance is amazing. They are my favorite band of all time and I would go to every show if i could. I wish I could have met them though. They took a while getting out so I had to leave and for some reason not everyone came outside to sign.

  • by bwandpf on 4/2/11Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 4 out of 5

It was an awesome venue. I like the atmosphere and how it's manageable to find where you're going. What I'd like though is if the venue would sell V.I.P tickets or backstage passes. It would be really nice to have met the bands.

  • My Chemical Romance is ALSO an AMAZING LIVE BAND!

by mototo on 4/2/11Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

I absolutely love My Chemical Romance~ their music is the best! They're my favorite band and I've always loved their music. After attended a few of their shows, it's safe to conclude that they are ALSO an amazing band to see live! Just standing in the crowd and having MCR be just a few yards away was unreal and totally amazing.

  • by Anonymous on 4/2/11Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

MCR is always a fun band to watch live and the Fox Theater is a beautiful and amazing venue.

  • wow!

by nwnowhere on 4/2/11Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

absolutely awesome. out of 45 bands i've seen in last few years this was the best performance hands down

  • by Maria568 on 4/2/11Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

The theater was beautiful, there wasn't an enormous wait time to get in, everything was done in an orderly manner and the staff was friendly and did their job superbly. The floor even had ventilation to keep us cool through the show. The opening acts were somewhat long, but MCR was amazing, it was phenomenal.

  • by Lolasabunny on 4/2/11Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

MCR performed really. They were engaging, energetic and rocked out. We had a really good time.

  • Awesome, yet safe

by Chanleen on 4/2/11Fox Theater - Oakland - OaklandRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent concert. Perfect venue. I really respect MCR for choosing a venue where the staff really enforces the prohibition of rough housing. This is my 4th MCR concert and at several of the concerts, Gerard would stop and tell people to back up because people couldn't breathe at the front. I know how crazy concerts can be, and I have to be extra careful due to my heart condition. I brought my student to see them a couple nights ago, telling him to use caution and worried a bit that we were on the floor. There was staff for the Fox theater on the floor that diffused a couple situations that could have become ugly. Overall, the safety control really made it an awesome night! It was my student's first concert and he had a blast! Thanks so much!
