About

My Chemical Romance are a rock band composed of lead vocalist Gerard Way, bassist Mikey Way and guitarists Ray Toro and Frank Iero. Formed in 2001 in New Jersey, MCR have become highly influential for their blend of rock, pop-punk and emo music along with unflinchingly open lyrics and theatrical live performances. Beginning with 2002’s I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, MCR have released four studio albums, two live recordings and three compilations. The band unveiled their major label debut, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, in 2004 behind their first charting singles, “I'm Not Okay (I Promise),” “Helena” and “The Ghost of You.” In 2006, MCR’s third album The Black Parade reached a career-high No. 2 on the Billboard 200, while lead single “Welcome to the Black Parade” peaked at No. 9 on the Hot 100. After touring 2010’s Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, MCR did not perform together again until 2019, followed by a reunion world tour between 2022 and 2023. The band headlined Las Vegas’ When We Were Young Festival in 2024. In 2025, My Chemical Romance embarked on a tour in celebration of the 20th anniversary of their landmark third studio album, The Black Parade.

  • Not enough words!

by Corkedhead on 4/14/11First Avenue - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

I don't think I could even put into words how awesome this band is live. I'm still on cloud nine and waiting to come down. They are also the sweetest humans on the planet and are so into what they're doing up on stage. I don't normally like live shows but these guys are BETTER live than on their albums. Epic. Just epic. See them if you can, you will regret it if you don't!

  • Loved it

The Architects were good. Neon Trees were AMAZING. My Chemical Romance started off slow but really kicked ass by the end.

I have been waiting over two years to see MCR live and the wait was worth it.

  • Epic Win

by Bethface on 4/14/11Val Air Ballroom - West Des MoinesRating: 5 out of 5

I absolutely loved the show. Every moment was awesome. Architects KCMO came out first. A girl passed out before they even came out... It was so packed. I hadn't heard of the Architects KCMO before but was pleasantly surprised at how awesome they were. Neon Trees were next. They were of course just as good as I thought they'd be. FINALLY My Chemical Romance emerged onto the stage to the beginning strains of "NaNaNa". The show seemed to not be long enough. Everyone was drenched in sweat and singing along. Didn't see an unhappy face anywhere. Not on stage and definitely not in the crowd.

It's not that I didn't enjoy the concert. MCR always puts on an AMAZING show, and this time was no different. The opening acts were spectacular (especially The Architects), and the venue is really cool. I guess I just didn't like the amount of people there. A silly thing to think, I know, seeing as it is an MCR show and they are pretty popular. The venue (Val Air Ballroom) tends to crowd their venue sometimes, and it just seemed like too many people. Essentially, loved the bands, loved the performance, didn't so much like the people.

MCR was amazing!!! It was the most lively and unforgettably awesome show! Songs were great and they are a million times better live!!

  • Awesome show!!!

by dickhead123 on 4/13/11Val Air Ballroom - West Des MoinesRating: 5 out of 5

I don't like their new album as well, but they played almost all my old favorites. Danced my ass off. Very good time!!! The Architects were real good as well. Neon Trees were not really my favorite kind of music but did ok too. MCR was awesome. All songs were played perfectly but still had the raw live sound that makes going to a concert so much fun. They had the crowd cranked up and everyone seemed to be having a good time. I wish they would have played Blood as that is a good some too.

  • MCR is the a remarkable band I love them!

by LIZHEARTSMCR on 4/13/11Val Air Ballroom - West Des MoinesRating: 5 out of 5

I love MCR and to see them in such a small venue made it completely perfect and unforgettable! I will go see them again. What an awesome show!

  • My Chemical Romance Rocks!

by aann766 on 4/13/11Val Air Ballroom - West Des MoinesRating: 5 out of 5

I had gotten these tickets mainly for my 14 y/o daughter since MCR is her favorite band. I have been following them also since their first hit "I'm Not OK", and have seen them twice in concert before. The venue was small, floor room only, which made it pretty warm in the crowd, but we were able to get up pretty close to the stage. We were allowed to bring in ordinary cameras, no professional grade. The band was great, playing old and new music. The lead guitarist was even playing with a broken foot!! That's dedication to your music and fans right there! Gerard Way was amazing. His vocals never waivered and he moved all around the stage (which made picture taking kinda difficult!). After the show, the band come out to the crowd to sign autographs. My daughter was so excited to meet them & got them all to sign her MCR jacket that she had brought.

by megz84 on 4/12/11Val Air Ballroom - West Des MoinesRating: 5 out of 5

The show was great. The venue stunk, but that isn't their fault.

  • Made me want more!

by CaptainSparkles on 4/12/11Val Air Ballroom - West Des MoinesRating: 5 out of 5

The Architects opened the show. I had never heard of them, but they were good. Neon Trees were next, I have only heard a couple of their songs, they sounded really good. Finally the main event was My Chemical Romance. It was well worth the wait. They were totally on. Had the crowd going crazy. Gerard was amazing. Was a very awesome night. My Chem were even nice enough after the show to come out and sign stuff.

  • AMAZING!!
