About

My Chemical Romance are a rock band composed of lead vocalist Gerard Way, bassist Mikey Way and guitarists Ray Toro and Frank Iero. Formed in 2001 in New Jersey, MCR have become highly influential for their blend of rock, pop-punk and emo music along with unflinchingly open lyrics and theatrical live performances. Beginning with 2002’s I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, MCR have released four studio albums, two live recordings and three compilations. The band unveiled their major label debut, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, in 2004 behind their first charting singles, “I'm Not Okay (I Promise),” “Helena” and “The Ghost of You.” In 2006, MCR’s third album The Black Parade reached a career-high No. 2 on the Billboard 200, while lead single “Welcome to the Black Parade” peaked at No. 9 on the Hot 100. After touring 2010’s Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, MCR did not perform together again until 2019, followed by a reunion world tour between 2022 and 2023. The band headlined Las Vegas’ When We Were Young Festival in 2024. In 2025, My Chemical Romance embarked on a tour in celebration of the 20th anniversary of their landmark third studio album, The Black Parade.

  • Awesome Show

    by Catwoman29 on 4/17/11Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

My Chemical Romance was amazing! I didn't know what to expect but Gerard Way sounded great. He was intimate with the audience and it was just really fun! They also had great representation of their music. Loved it all!

I've been a fan of MCR since their first album released, but this is the first time I've been able to seen them live. AMAZING show. I will definitely be seeing them again.

  • My Chemical Romance at the Aragon

    by Billzach75 on 4/17/11Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

The show went so fast before I knew it, the show was over. The light show was a little too much due to the heat.

  • MCR FOREVER!

by ImaSpiderPirate on 4/17/11Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

I was within 12 rows of the stage and fought to keep my spot. I enjoyed everything about the show and im sooo ready to do it again soon.

  • by Megannnnn on 4/17/11Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

This was the third time I've seen My Chem and it was amazing. They did songs off all four of their albums. They know how to energize the crowd. I love them so much!

  • MCR in Chicago

by Cjustice on 4/17/11Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

This was my first MCR show. Me and a Friend drove 5 hours to Chicago to see them. We were in line at 8 am for the event. The fans in line were very friendly and we all danced and played games during the long wait. The security at the venue were pretty nice too. But one thing they didn't do was pass out water. All the other shows like this I have been to the security will give drinks of water to the people in the pit, but not this show. so there was people passing out left and right throughout the whole show. Another thing that bugged me was the stage was too damn high! My neck was really sore from looking up before the first opening band even finished! And if that wasn't enough the way they had the barricade set up was just weird. It was set up like the stage had a cat walk, but there was none, which made the fans even further away from the band. Obviously none of these things are My Chemical Romance's fault, I just didn't like how the venue was set up. It kinda disappointed me to be so far away even tho I was on the rail. The show itself was pretty amazing. I felt some great energy during most of it, the times I could manage to move at least. Gerard doesn't seem to move around much though. He kind of just paces and haed bangs his head. Still a great performer though. Mikey and Gerard were the most active ones. I don't think Frank and Ray ever moved away from their microphones. I wish they had more energy up on stage. Not to say they were terrible, don't get me wrong they were amazing, there just weren't any "WOW" moments for me. Not to mention, I have been to 5 Green Day shows, and the energy they give off at a show just doesn't even compare to any other band. After the show we got to meet Frank and get signatures. All in all I say it was well worth the drive and the long and cold wait in line.

  • My Chemical Romance concert (Excellent Show)

by phrotus on 4/17/11Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

good show, expensive beer, bad egress after show. Acoustics at the Aragon are not very good. nice and loud, though. Over all sound was poor compared to other shows I've been to. And I've been to A LOT of concerts.

  • by Anonymous on 4/17/11Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

This is the second time I've seen My Chemical Romance and they were still absolutely amazing and both the Architects and Neon Trees did not disappoint. They kept you on your toes, and even though the venue was a little small and way too hot, it was still a great show.

  • Louder than Bombs

    by cico13 on 4/17/11Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 2 out of 5

I didn't enjoyed this show for only one reason: it was too loud. I moved myself to last row and later I left concert early. I'm glad that my wife didn't go with me, She would leave the place after one minute. Previous show at House of Blues was nice.

  • by nicknameyo on 4/17/11Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

AMAZING. I love mcr, they never disappoint. The crowd was full of dbags, but that's the way it goes at these things. Despite that, I had a great time.

  • The World Contamination Tour: What Tomorrow Needs

by FerrinSquare on 4/17/11Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

A My Chemical Romance crowd is a passionate one. So not only did the boys from Jersey recieve an outstanding ovation, but the opening acts did as well. Upon arriving at the venue I saw a line had already formed, and I could hear a group Killjoys singing multiple MCR anthems as we approached. I was lucky enough to arrive relatively early - and determined enough to fight the rest of the way to the front. The Architects, though I'd never heard any of their music before, were energetic enough to get me bouncing along to the beat. I made a few lyrical mental notes for looking up song titles later. Neon Trees were great, and very entertaining. I anticipated their popular song "Animal" as soon as I heard they were one of the openers, and it didn't disappoint. I didn't know the words to more than two songs, but they've got such a great stage presence that I still really enjoyed their time in the spotlight. As soon as Neon Tress signed off, though, the crowd's energy spilled over. Every amped-up fan was pushing and being pushed, and I couldn't stand even remotely still for the rest of the night. The crowd only got more excited when the lights changed, and completely erupted with the first sighting of the band. MCR didn't disappoint, either. They played many new songs but didn't skimp on the older favorites, sampling from every album. By the end of the night, myself and everyone around me looked like we'd gone swimming. I lost the t-shirt I'd bought pre-show in the crowd, but in return received a number of bruises as souvenirs. Perhaps I'm biased, with the headliner being my all-time favorite band. But I left the venue exhausted, with my ears ringing and my voice a higher pitch, completely satisfied.

  • MCR amazing at 16yrs of age, okay at 22 yrs.

    by RockyRock88 on 4/17/11Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

This event was the second time I seen these guys play live and I have to say it was fun..but they could have ended with a better song. If they had played just a couple of more songs from their first album I would have been more happy. I could have done without the songs from the black parade : / Aside from the $7 beer, I had fun overall.

  • by HausofElmo on 4/17/11Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

This was one of my friend's first concerts... It was very fun to watch her having an awesome time and enjoying the show. The Aragon Ballroom was the perfect venue... You could see the band from anywhere in the room. The peak of the show was definitely "Mama". They did a great job interacting with the crowd and overall it was a friendly audience. MCR has been one of my favorite bands since middle school, so it was great to finally have the opportunity to see them live, and they didn't disappoint. I love a band that sounds just as good live (if not better) than they do on the cd. I'd love to see them again sometime soon.

  • Great show by MCR

    by Kristen87 on 4/17/11Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

The opener Neon Trees were pretty good but played too long of a set. After they have finished it took a very long time for MCR to set up. I have been a fan since their first cd and it was nice to hear them play a variety of songs from all thier albums! BUT they did not perform SING, what the hell is up with that?!?! BUT as usual I love seeing My Chemical Romance they always put on a great show with lots of energy I have never missed a Chicago show! fans great! PARENTS don't bring your kids to the mosh!!! They are gOing to get smashed and will probably panic and have trOuble breathing! You can't stop the crowd and protect your child... Don't kid yourself

  • Best Night Of My Life

  • MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE!

by Kittibean on 4/17/11Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

They are always great live. lots of energy and always in-your-face awesome! Neon Trees was an opener for My Chem and they were EXCELLENT! OVER ALL IT WAS CRAZY AWESOME!

  • by Nickica on 4/17/11Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

My Chemical Romance was amazing! They sounded incredible! I would definitely see them over and over again!! The Aragon Ballroom looked great and was very clean too.

  • My Chemical Romance Epic/Rave

    by KrzyConcertKid on 4/17/11Eagles Club/The Rave/Eagles Ballroom - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

This is the 3rd time I have seen them live and every show they put on is different than the next one. They have been great the past 2 times I've seen them, but this time they had a little something extra that really them over the top. My reasoning is that this was more of an up beat type of rave concert, which I really enjoyed as a concert goer. I felt like they involved the fans more into the show which gave it an overall better feel. I would high recommend a My Chem show to anyone who loves music in general.

  • Awesome
