About

My Chemical Romance are a rock band composed of lead vocalist Gerard Way, bassist Mikey Way and guitarists Ray Toro and Frank Iero. Formed in 2001 in New Jersey, MCR have become highly influential for their blend of rock, pop-punk and emo music along with unflinchingly open lyrics and theatrical live performances. Beginning with 2002’s I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, MCR have released four studio albums, two live recordings and three compilations. The band unveiled their major label debut, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, in 2004 behind their first charting singles, “I'm Not Okay (I Promise),” “Helena” and “The Ghost of You.” In 2006, MCR’s third album The Black Parade reached a career-high No. 2 on the Billboard 200, while lead single “Welcome to the Black Parade” peaked at No. 9 on the Hot 100. After touring 2010’s Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, MCR did not perform together again until 2019, followed by a reunion world tour between 2022 and 2023. The band headlined Las Vegas’ When We Were Young Festival in 2024. In 2025, My Chemical Romance embarked on a tour in celebration of the 20th anniversary of their landmark third studio album, The Black Parade.

  • My Chemical Romance best ever!

    by Holly12097468932 on 4/19/11Orbit Room - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

This was the first time I saw My Chemical Romance live and they are an amazing live band! I've been waiting for this for 5 years and was unforgetable. Their new cd is definitely my favorite and I liked how they mixed new songs with old ones and played songs from every album. Definitely want to go see them again SOON! :)

  • Sound Check PLEASE!

    by Tmore78 on 4/19/11Eagles Club/The Rave/Eagles Ballroom - MilwaukeeRating: 4 out of 5

I've seen MCR 3 times, and I always come back for more. However, this time, the sound check guy didnt do that great of a job. It was so loud you couldnt hear Gerard. And then when Gerard was talking, you couldnt make out what he was saying because his mic was too loud. Other than that, they rocked of course!

The concert was amazing. They sound the same as they do in their cds. Probably the best concert I've been to. I wish the concert was longer. I am planning on going to the next concert they have in Chicago.

  • My Chemical Romance in Grand Rapids

by pgmfam on 4/18/11Orbit Room - Grand RapidsRating: 4 out of 5

Pros: My Chemical Romance's performance - 5 stars. They were awesome. Gerard Way's vocals were outstanding. Cons: Standing in high wind, rain then sleet, then snow for 3 hours outside the Orbit Room with absolutely no cover. Cons: The vendors sold out of several items even before the show started. Since this concert is towards the beginning of their tour, it is amazing to me they run out of stock. I was told I could find the items online, but these are not available there. Cons: The band did not meet their fans afterwards to sign autographs. Daughter was very disappointed since it has been reported that they did this at all their other concerts.

My Chemical Romance has a stage presence unlike any other band I have ever seen.

  • MCR was

by skbatmen on 4/18/11Orbit Room - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

From the opening of Danger Dayz, My Chemical Romance owned the stage at the Orbit Room. I went to the show with my 20 year old, his girlfriend, and my 11 year old daughter. In my opinion, MCR was a hit with all of us. Were they loud....Yes. Did they swear... yes. But, a father to daughter talk about language was all that was needed to get past that. Musically, they were powerful and energeticI wouldn't hesitate to take my kids to see MCR again.

This was a pretty great show. The band sounded amazing. They seemed a little tired, but it was still great. Ray had a broken foot, but he stayed up there the whole time with a smile on his face. They played a new, slower version of Ghost of You which was completely awesome! I am so glad I got to see this show!

Had an amazing time! The headliners were a BONUS!!! check out The Architects people!!

  • by kkross on 4/18/11Orbit Room - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

The show opened with The Architects. Good band that got me pumped for MCR. When Gerard came on stage there were tears. The band really connects with their audience. They had a lot of stage presence and energy. It was all around amazing for MCR fans.

  • My Chem is amazing

by MrPanda on 4/18/11Orbit Room - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

So My Chem started the show with the explosive "Na Na Na..." going in full force, sending the crowd into a frenzy, and the show only went from there. MCR played crowd favorites, like "Welcome To Black Parade," "Mama," and of course they first hit single "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)". MCR also dusted off a few songs that heard too much live like "House of Wolves," "Hang 'em High," which Gerard said was in honor of their opening act. The band had not been Grand Rapids ever for their headlining tours, and they seemed to really enjoy being on the West Side of the state of Michigan for once; Ray's non-stop smile while shredding his guitar (proving he is indeed the best guitarist ever) was one of the best things to see. Frank Iero seemed to extra energized for the show almost like the Frank from Bullets and Three Cheers had taken over for the night, proving why he was the Grandmaster of Punk Guitar. A rare moment was even achieved for the night, "Vampires Will Hurt You," was played- and while most of the crowd seemed to have no idea about the song, it is from their first CD back when MCR was with Eyeball Records off the CD I Brought you Bullets you Brought me Your Love, they still went crazy and even formed a circle pit- something rarely done on the previous tour- you got to hear Frank Iero and Gerard Way release some coordinated screams; and while Frank may get to scream every now and then on old Three Cheers songs, you never Gerard let a scream off. The crowd was mixed with old time MCR fans (like myself) and newbies on the scene, people who have been going to shows since Three Cheers and people who were there for the first time, and for the most part we all got along good; except for a few groups of skanky rude girls and their Jersey Shore wannbe boyfriends that thought they owned the place, but they will always be around. The show was basically a perfect show, the band seemed to watch their fans energy output and at times rose the bar, which made us raise the energy, and it went like that all night until Gerard announced that there were at their last song (after playing Helena, leaving the stage only to be called back to play Cancer to get us all to settle down a bit) which was "Bulletproof Heart," a high energy-long lasting, upbeat song off their newest CD Danger Days: The True Lives of The Fabulous Killjoys. I will leave you with words Gerard told us MCRmy members in Michigan as he took out our State Flag proudly waved it around, then tied it to his mic stand, "No matter what they say, no matter what they do, always follow your dreams, always follow your heart...always KEEP RUNNING!"

  • by Anonymous on 4/18/11First Avenue - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Brilliant. Both opening acts had fantastic energy, but the building lit up when MCR came on stage. They rocked the show, of course.

  • My Chemical Romance does it again

by erinlovesmcr on 4/18/11Orbit Room - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

This was my 5th time seeing My chemical romance and it was by far the best show. They have the best stage presence. They are so much fun and jam so hard. They played 19 songs and gave each song every ounce of energy they had. I loved it and recommend it to everyone who enjoys a good show.

  • EPIC!

    by brandijean211 on 4/18/11Orbit Room - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

I love this band! The venue was great because it wasn't a big room...it only held about 1500 people. We were on the balcony and I was still only about 100ft from Gerard Way. Amazing! I am going to get tickets for every tour from this point on. I'll never forget it :)

  • Small venue...Big fun

by jdarke on 4/18/11Orbit Room - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

they played an incredible set as usual. even in this small venue they treated the show as if it were an arena

This is the third time I have seen MCR live and it was by far my favorite show! They played music from all 4 of their albums. They have such an amazing stage presence. I highly recommend this tour to any other My Chem fans. You won't regret it!
