About

My Chemical Romance are a rock band composed of lead vocalist Gerard Way, bassist Mikey Way and guitarists Ray Toro and Frank Iero. Formed in 2001 in New Jersey, MCR have become highly influential for their blend of rock, pop-punk and emo music along with unflinchingly open lyrics and theatrical live performances. Beginning with 2002’s I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, MCR have released four studio albums, two live recordings and three compilations. The band unveiled their major label debut, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, in 2004 behind their first charting singles, “I'm Not Okay (I Promise),” “Helena” and “The Ghost of You.” In 2006, MCR’s third album The Black Parade reached a career-high No. 2 on the Billboard 200, while lead single “Welcome to the Black Parade” peaked at No. 9 on the Hot 100. After touring 2010’s Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, MCR did not perform together again until 2019, followed by a reunion world tour between 2022 and 2023. The band headlined Las Vegas’ When We Were Young Festival in 2024. In 2025, My Chemical Romance embarked on a tour in celebration of the 20th anniversary of their landmark third studio album, The Black Parade.

  • MCR rocked the house !!!

by blargsmom on 4/22/11Val Air Ballroom - West Des MoinesRating: 5 out of 5

The MCR show in w. des moines was fantastic The architects an neon trees opened for mcr, and both bands were great. I'd gladly go see the whole show again and again. I'm glad my daughter took me. I loved it as much as she did.

  • BEST SHOW EVER!!!!!!!!!!!

anyone wondering if the new my chemical romance sucks would completely be proven wrong by watching them in concert. i agree they're new music is definitely different to their original style but that doesn't mean it isn't good. that concert was amazing and the aragon ballroom is a really good venue. i recommend seeing My Chemical Romance ASAP!! hurry before tickets run out!

  • by dyelirious on 4/22/11Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

When MCR took the stage, the deafening roar of the crowd coupled with the opening riffs of Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na) made it clear that I had made a wise choice with regard to location. I could hear the band as well as take part in serious crowd observation. The band was tight and an energy surged through the crowd that didn’t seem to fade until the end of the final song. We were rocked it with a in-your-face set of music that mixed the old with the new, sans any unnecessary flash and too much talk. The music is what was showcased, and that’s all I wanted or needed. MCR proved, once again, to be masters of power pop melodies fueled by the driving force of a punk energy that just works. MCR presented a fantastic 17 song set that alternated between new and old in a genius order sure to please all the old school fans as well as showcase their newest effort. During older songs, the band played with a fierceness that had you believing that the last decade hadn’t gone by, and they were still the young Jersey boys ready to take on the world; whilst new songs were delivered with an appealing intense maturity and refreshing aura of hope and possibility.

  • TOO LOUD - TERRIBLE PA

by docrhythm on 4/22/11Métropolis - MontrealRating: 1 out of 5

The Metropolis is ususlly a GREAT venue to see a live performance. This show started off good & the 2 opening bands were full of energy & very entertaining. The PA was very loud but still good. THEN MCR hit the stage & the soundman decided to crank up the PA. As a professional guitar player & avid concert go-er I consider myself to have a seasoned ear & good tolerance for loud music. The vocals were COMPLETELY undistinguishable, the highs & mid were shrill & the overall sound was dreadful. From what I could make out the band was performing well. Even when the dynamics broke down to something as subtle as a keyboard & a vocal the sound was atrocious. It sounded as if the power amps were all cranked to 10 & the front speakers couldnt handle it. Not sure where the soundboard was located but it couldnt have been in front of the band.

  • MCR was AWESOME

by PJEC on 4/22/11Val Air Ballroom - West Des MoinesRating: 2 out of 5

I would not reccommend the Val Air Ballroom to ANYONE!! It was way too crowded and after contacting the box office for handicap accessibility, I was asked how many in my party and that it was no problem, I asked if they needed a name they said no. Well it didn't work out that way at all. We arrived at the designated North entrance, the 4 of us. We were told only 1 with myself, the handicap could go in. There were 3 other handicap people and we were all told the same thing, but the bouncers were RUDE and inconsiderate to all of us. If we had known we could have been standing in line earlier, so the rest of our parties had to go to the end of the line which was wrapped around the building, where we could see them. We were not let in until 6:30pm with all the other people running into the venue. I was tripped and fell on my broken foot, ended up with major bruises, pushed and left to fend for myself. I will never travel 3 hours to Val Air Ballroom again!!!!!!

  • My first show

    by MCRFOBa7x on 4/21/11Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

It was hot. "hotter than hell" as Gerard Way put it. I had a great time and I had the ear ringing and sweat-drenched t-shirt to prove it. People were saying there was too much pushing, but I expected that. The entire show from the first opening act to encore was AMAZING. I now plan to catch MCR anytime they come to Chicago again.

  • My Chemical Romance at Kool Haus (Toronto, ON)

by Anonymous on 4/21/11Kool Haus - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

I got the tickets to see Neon Trees who were supposed to be an opener. They were not on the bill for this show or there Montreal show (passport/visa issues?). By the time MCR was on we were at the barrier. I was pleasantly surprised with MCR as I was not expecting that much from them.

  • BEST CONCERT OF MY LIFE!

by HugeMCRfan on 4/21/11Orbit Room - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

The concert was so amazing! When it was time for it to be over and MCR left stage, I wanted them to keep performing and never leave!

  • by Zelda555 on 4/21/11Kool Haus - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Totally awesome. This concert was totally unforgeable. I may be a little biased since MCR is my favorite band, but it was awesome!!!!

  • MCR kicked ass

by Pyr0 on 4/21/11Val Air Ballroom - West Des MoinesRating: 4 out of 5

The architects did well. Neon Trees not so much but My Chemical Romance was frickin awesome.

  • MY CHEM ROCKED THE BALLROOM

    by JAMART99 on 4/20/11Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

THE SETTING WAS PERFECT, NEON TREES WERE AWESOME AND MCR PERFORMED ABOVE MY EXPECTATIONS I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THEM AGAIN THIS SUMMER. I AM A DEVOTED KILLJOY!!!!

  • Totally Worth It!

by McHitList on 4/20/11Orbit Room - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome for my first concert, waiting in the rain and snow for 1.5 hours was worth it! Really surprised they didn't play SING though. Overall, it was great.

  • MCR were incredible, but not interactive enough...

by Chicagotourchick on 4/20/11Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

MCR are my favorite band of 5 years, and when l saw them for the first time last Friday at the Aragon in Chicago, I was definitely let down about how little interaction there was with the crowd. They did not have the energy l saw in them in their music videos or older performances. They've just changed, when it comes to performing. There was barely any interaction with the crowd, and this isn't how I pictured my first MCR show expericnce to be. It was a great show in the long run, don't get me wrong. I sang my heart out and was really energized. Vocally, Gerard Way performed so well. The talent was there, but l was looking for some crazy entertainment too. The show, I felt, was strictly performing the songs people wanted to hear. They didn't focus on delievering the crazy, sweaty, intense entertainment.

  • MCR rocked my world

by KilljoyLove on 4/20/11Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

AMAZING concert. The ways are just incredible love the songs they picked to play from multiple albums. Played almost all my favorites, but then again almost all their songs are my favorite!!

  • Solid Show in a so-so venue!

by MuskRocker on 4/19/11Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

Like many before me have stated although a nice looking place the "Aragon Ballroom" is not a great place for a rock concert! As for MCR they played a great show there was a ton of energy in the building (as well as heat but more on the in a moment) and everyone seemed like they were having a great time jumping up and down and singing along. Compared to other tours I'd say the band seems to be powering through the set list without stopping to interact with the crowd much. If I had to say something negative about the performance I would say that "DESTORYA" doesn't seem to sound all that good live. I love the song on the CD but I think there might be too much going on in it and I felt like some of the shows energy was lost when they played that song. Another thing to note about the concert is that they didn't play "Sing" which is the big radio hit right now. Overall, it was a solid show and I know I had a ton of fun! Now for the venue I'm not going to trash it and say it is the worst place I've been to because it's not, but it is nothing to write home about. The sound is TERRIBLE!!! you can not understand anything the artists are saying and in general the sound is just a big ball of loudness. The place was unbelievably hot and I've been to a lot of concerts I know what hot is, and then there is the Aragon, buy a huge fan or upgrade your air conditioning or something I saw so many people leaving the floor who looked like they were ready to pass out any second. The price for water is far too high you give them $3 they give you a tiny cup (my guess is between 8oz-12oz) of water. The last thing I will complain about is the fact that there is one entrance and one exit to the entire place which creates a huge backup when everyone is trying to get out. Now all of those things being said the place is pretty nice looking and the staff seemed nice.

  • Another Excellent Show From MCR

by MuskRocker on 4/19/11Orbit Room - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

Although I'd seen MCR 5 times before this show (including the previous night in Chicago) I was much more excited for this show because it was in Grand Rapids and we haven't gotten My Chem to our side of the state since the Green Day tour (I think). Another reason to be excited was because this show was at the Orbit Room which is easily the best venue in all of West Michigan! The staff is great, the sound is great, and the size is perfect! The show was great the set list was pretty close to the same one from the previous night expect for "The Ghost of You" which was not played in Chicago. I don't know if it was the smaller size venue or if they were just having a great time themselves, but the band seemed much more loose then in previous shows. They stopped near the middle of the show to have a quick jam session which the crowd seemed to enjoy. Another thing I found interesting about this show was the age of the attendees, in Chicago I found much of the crowd to be younger teens, but in GR the crowd seemed much older. As was the case in Chicago they did not play "Sing" which know one knows the reason for??? If I had to make any negative remarks about the show I would say for some reason "DESTROYA" is not transferring to the live show very well I think there is too much going on in the song and listening to it live it sounds like a mess. Overall, it was a great show and I hope they start playing Grand Rapids more often.

  • Beyond Phenomenal

by Clockworkkelsey on 4/19/11Orbit Room - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

The show was absolutely flawless from beginning to end. I've never heard of The Architects (the opening band) before, but they were great. My Chem definitely delivered an amazing and unforgettable performance. I hope they play the Orbit Room again, because it was a really personal and small venue. I would definitely see them again next time they play Michigan, at any venue.

  • My Chemical Romance

by alltimeamy on 4/19/11Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

AMAZING SHOW. my fifteen year old self was finally completed when I saw the boys of My Chemical Romance live. I've been dying to see them for years and this was everything I expected. Gerard sounded amazing. I couldn't have asked for anything better. If you haven't seen them live, you are very much missing out. Neon Trees was the opening band, and they brought it. I was very excited to hear them play and they delivered a great show.

  • Unstoppable My Chem

by Anonymous on 4/19/11Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 4 out of 5

My Chemical Romance preformed nonstop!! They sang songs not just their new cd but from all their cds. The opening acts were energizing.

  • MCR Rocked it again!

    by mcr123 on 4/19/11Orbit Room - Grand RapidsRating: 5 out of 5

This is the third MCR concert I have been to and it was amazing as always! I was a little disappointed that the song "Party Poison" wasn't played though... Overall it was a great concert they did a great job of getting the crowd pumped up, etc. Plan on seeing them again when they tour in Michigan!
