About

My Chemical Romance are a rock band composed of lead vocalist Gerard Way, bassist Mikey Way and guitarists Ray Toro and Frank Iero. Formed in 2001 in New Jersey, MCR have become highly influential for their blend of rock, pop-punk and emo music along with unflinchingly open lyrics and theatrical live performances. Beginning with 2002’s I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, MCR have released four studio albums, two live recordings and three compilations. The band unveiled their major label debut, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, in 2004 behind their first charting singles, “I'm Not Okay (I Promise),” “Helena” and “The Ghost of You.” In 2006, MCR’s third album The Black Parade reached a career-high No. 2 on the Billboard 200, while lead single “Welcome to the Black Parade” peaked at No. 9 on the Hot 100. After touring 2010’s Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, MCR did not perform together again until 2019, followed by a reunion world tour between 2022 and 2023. The band headlined Las Vegas’ When We Were Young Festival in 2024. In 2025, My Chemical Romance embarked on a tour in celebration of the 20th anniversary of their landmark third studio album, The Black Parade.

  • MCR Killjoys Made Some Noise!

by Anonymous on 5/12/11Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

As usual, My Chemical Romance did not disappoint--the band delivered such incredible, high energy! From the moment they stepped on stage till the very end, they had the crowd screaming, singing, dancing, and pulsing to the music. Every time I see them perform, I am amazed at the amount of energy they exude--the way Frank thrashes across the stage and plays like his guitar is an extension of his arm, Mikey's constant, steady swaying and flinging of his hair :), Gerard's excited movements and gestures coupled with his fantastic delivery of vocals, even Ray (who had an injury to his leg) couldn't help from moving around. Of course, Pedicone and Dewees must be noted for their stellar performances as well--Pedicone's drums were the perfect backbone to the performance and Dewees's keyboard transitions between songs were absolutely breathtaking. I only wish there had been a little more interaction with the audience; nevertheless, Gerard did have some comments and shout out's to the crowd that were enjoyable. If I hadn't been comparing the interaction with the crowd to older shows that I've been to back in 2005, I wouldn't have even noticed, and the band's 'put-your-all-into-it' performance of the songs certainly more than made up for it. My sister and I had a great spot right by the sound/effects booth so no one was in our way to block our view. That being said, I feel like you can stand anywhere in the room even with people in front of you and still have a decent view. I've seen MCR twice at Aragon in Chicago now and have also been to a few other shows there and I really enjoy this venue. The size is big, but not too massive so you feel like you have a bit more intimate of a performance then at a huge arena. Each time I see MCR it is an unforgettable experience. This band delivers on high energy that pulses through the crowd and left every killjoy in the venue screaming for more. Hope to have many more experiences with MCR at the Aragon in the future!

  • Excellent Gift

by InfinityWolf on 5/11/11Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

I bought tickets to this as a gift for my girlfriend. MCR is her favorite band, though I don't care much for them. However, I was very impressed with their performance. Even as someone who is not a fan, I enjoyed my time watching the show. My girlfriend had an amazing time, of course. She couldn't stop smiling and bobbing up and down in excitement (she's not someone who expresses emotions like that too frequently). I would definitely recommend going to see them if this is your type of music. A good performer can make a show interesting, even to someone who has very low interest. And they kept my interest! Good job, guys!

The wait was worth it, Long time to stand but the show was well worth it.

  • MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE BLEW THE ROOF OFF STARLAND!!!

by DevonH on 5/11/11Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

This concert was by far the best concert I've been too, EVER!!! I've been wanting to see them since they were supposed to be at the Allentown Fair with Taking Back Sunday and their drummer at the time got sick. This show was a BLAST!!! I can't wait to go see them again.

  • MCR is by far one of the greatest bands you'll see

by DemolitionSinner on 5/11/11Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

I'm a huge fan of My Chem, they're my favorite band and I've seen them other times prior to this, they never are any thing short of fantastic live. They put on a hell of a show. <3 LOVE THEM!!! <33333333

  • If it's 2 nights, go for both

by Tamaphobia on 5/10/11Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

I went to both nights that MCR was at Starland, and even Gerard said the second night was better. The 7th was still great though.

  • MCR Was AMAZING!

by Natabeee on 5/10/11Starland Ballroom - SayervilleRating: 5 out of 5

The energy of the show was amazing, packed house and all. great mixture of old and new songs. MCR has always been my favorite band and i'm glad i got this chance to see them again for like the 10th time. this by far has to be my favorite show ever.

  • The first of many amazing concerts.

by IridescentPlasma on 5/10/11Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

This concert was my first of many and was unforgettable. Ray sweat on me. Gerard looked me in the eyes while I was crying and sang me a few words of my favorite song. Ray smiled for my picture while everyone else was taking them too and he didn't smile for them. My friend got Ray's guitar pick. She also made signs to Gerard after he flipped us off and he grinned at her. My other friend fainted in the beginning of Black Parade.

  • Awesome show, but whats with the setup?

by merxxo on 5/10/11Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

So the show was amazing, I've been waiting five years to go see them, it was my first time, and everything was perfect. However, at the venue, the sound board was in the middle of the floor, making a big gap in the crowd. It obstructed a lot of people's vision. Why is it there? Shouldn't it be backstage or something? They should get that moved...

  • Intimate and exciting!

by Anonymous on 5/10/11Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

I was at first afraid that my favorite band wouldn't be good live, like I'd heard from some friends, but at Starland it was all very intimate and the setting was AWESOME! The band looked great and everything was great! :D Would go again if it was there :)

  • Great live!

    by Button787 on 5/10/11Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

MCR is a great band to see live. They were full of energy and played all their best songs.

  • LOVE MCR!!!! <3 best concert ever!

    by je5sica on 5/10/11Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

i was about 20 feet from Gerard Way. The tickets were GA, so it was first come first serve, but my boyfriend and i got moved up from the long line pretty fast cuz we were over 21 so we got in pretty quick. It was so loud, they didnt come on until 10 but it was by far my best concert I've ever been to. My all time favorite band, i was so close. The only downside was when the mosh crowd decided to have pushing wars, i got kicked in the mouth by someone crowd surfing, and i fell down a few times, but i wouldnt trade it for the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Awesome as usual My Chem!

    by Roxy227 on 5/10/11Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

This was my 8th time seeing My Chemical Romance and they were amazing as usual! I'm so happy that they played songs off of all 4 albums!

  • Great show, horrible sound

by backfixer on 5/10/11Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 4 out of 5

I love this band. Great attitude, great music and they are adored by their audience. They did a homecoming show sunday night and they played great. Unfortunately, the volume was at 11 and everything sounded like noise, because they overdrove their system. Sure, it was loud anyway, most people sung along to the songs they knew but the band could not overcome the fact the club drove the volume too high and everything sounded like noise. BTW, I had filters in my ears which will clean up the sound and make it more tolerable. Even with them, my ears were buzzing. Loud is ok as long as you can hear them music. Otherwise, really good show by these guys

  • Loved This Show

by Iceempress on 5/10/11Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

OK, I've never seen My Chem until now but have loved their music from afar. Yep, I'm probably a bit too old to like a band like this but what the hell. Their music makes me feel good. I loved the professionalism of the guitar play by all but especially by the guy with the curly hair. Gerard Way has a commanding voice and his banter with the crowd makes a connection. I knew all but one song which meant their song selection was top notch for me. I tell all my friends about this band and they just look at me like I'm nuts. Their loss. BTW, I'm 50...

  • my chemical romance is freaking awsome

  • MCR never disappoints

by Anonymous on 5/10/11Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

This was my 4th MCR show. I've seen 'em in large and small venues. This one was probably the best show I've seen. My only complaint is that I wish they would've played longer. We sat through 3 openings acts (only 1 of which I thought was good), and they only played for an hour and a half. With how many great songs they have, I would have liked to hear more. Regardless, I'm still going to any local show they put on next!!!

  • My Chem @ Starland May 7th, 2011

by Shirleypc on 5/10/11Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

Perhaps the double rainbow and amzingly colorful sky was a precursor for a night of wonderful music. As we arrived a bit late, I can only comment on Thursday and My Chemical Romance. Having found a secret spot on the steps to the bar at stage left, I was able to see the bands very well although not from the front. Thursday has matured and they've added a gentler side to their music that enables their song crafting ability to show. I thought Jeff Rickley was amazing and thoroughly enjoyed their set. My Chem came on and ripped through the first couple of songs. However, they seemed to tire after that. By the time the got to Destroya, it was a much slower rendition than on the album and lacked the incredible intensity the song has as recorded. But they did show their love to the Jersey fans, with Gerard saying how good it was to be home after four years. The sound was excellent, by the way, and far superior to the Tower Theater where they played the night before.
