MCR Killjoys Made Some Noise!
by Anonymous on 5/12/11Aragon Ballroom - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5As usual, My Chemical Romance did not disappoint--the band delivered such incredible, high energy! From the moment they stepped on stage till the very end, they had the crowd screaming, singing, dancing, and pulsing to the music. Every time I see them perform, I am amazed at the amount of energy they exude--the way Frank thrashes across the stage and plays like his guitar is an extension of his arm, Mikey's constant, steady swaying and flinging of his hair :), Gerard's excited movements and gestures coupled with his fantastic delivery of vocals, even Ray (who had an injury to his leg) couldn't help from moving around. Of course, Pedicone and Dewees must be noted for their stellar performances as well--Pedicone's drums were the perfect backbone to the performance and Dewees's keyboard transitions between songs were absolutely breathtaking. I only wish there had been a little more interaction with the audience; nevertheless, Gerard did have some comments and shout out's to the crowd that were enjoyable. If I hadn't been comparing the interaction with the crowd to older shows that I've been to back in 2005, I wouldn't have even noticed, and the band's 'put-your-all-into-it' performance of the songs certainly more than made up for it. My sister and I had a great spot right by the sound/effects booth so no one was in our way to block our view. That being said, I feel like you can stand anywhere in the room even with people in front of you and still have a decent view. I've seen MCR twice at Aragon in Chicago now and have also been to a few other shows there and I really enjoy this venue. The size is big, but not too massive so you feel like you have a bit more intimate of a performance then at a huge arena. Each time I see MCR it is an unforgettable experience. This band delivers on high energy that pulses through the crowd and left every killjoy in the venue screaming for more. Hope to have many more experiences with MCR at the Aragon in the future!
