About

My Chemical Romance are a rock band composed of lead vocalist Gerard Way, bassist Mikey Way and guitarists Ray Toro and Frank Iero. Formed in 2001 in New Jersey, MCR have become highly influential for their blend of rock, pop-punk and emo music along with unflinchingly open lyrics and theatrical live performances. Beginning with 2002’s I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, MCR have released four studio albums, two live recordings and three compilations. The band unveiled their major label debut, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, in 2004 behind their first charting singles, “I'm Not Okay (I Promise),” “Helena” and “The Ghost of You.” In 2006, MCR’s third album The Black Parade reached a career-high No. 2 on the Billboard 200, while lead single “Welcome to the Black Parade” peaked at No. 9 on the Hot 100. After touring 2010’s Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, MCR did not perform together again until 2019, followed by a reunion world tour between 2022 and 2023. The band headlined Las Vegas’ When We Were Young Festival in 2024. In 2025, My Chemical Romance embarked on a tour in celebration of the 20th anniversary of their landmark third studio album, The Black Parade.

  • The Most AMAZING Weekend EVER!!

by xpoisonxkissx on 5/19/11Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

My sister and I have followed My Chemical Romance for 8 years now and when they came to the tower theater and the starling ballroom, we looked at each other and realized we had just planned our mothers day weekend. We couldn't have been more excited, months of preparing and saving up finally we arrived in Sayreville NJ and took our place upfront in line. We waited 71/2 hours and talked to MCR's truck driver and The Guys of This Good Robot (which we didn't know at the time) to pass the time. Once we got inside we darted up front taking our place in the center but off to the right, we were always between Ray and Gerard so we didn't want to break the habit. This Good Robot came on first and they are AMAZING they brought a crazy amount of energy to the stage for playing their only 3 songs. The Architects were next and I think my sister and me were the only ones singing some of their songs. The Singer made the funniest faces and it was a whole different experience with them. Then Came Thursday who really knew how to get the crowed full of energy. We waited and watched as the crew set up for MCR’s set and you could just feel the energy in the room lift. Once they started playing Look Alive Sunshine, that was it they started the show off with Na Na Na and the party just kept going. The Guys Looked really tired but they put on the most AMAZING show ever. Gerard still know how to get the Crowd riled up with his strange dances, Ray is still the best guitarist ever, Mikey Actually moved around and I really wanted his sparkle bass, and Frank, I love Frank He was Energetic as always. During Planetary (Go) I got my High Five and thought I could have died, Ray laughed and waved to us since he saw us the last 8 years. I wish I could go back and start the weekend over because it was just too amazing and I don’t want it to be over. This band always delivers an outstanding performance for their fans and I feel like they still have plans up their sleeves for future tours, and I hope that’s right.

  • AH-freaking-MAZING.

Words cannot describe how Gerard Way really gets to your soul. Reallllly energetic! 10 thumbs up. :) They sound EXTREMELY good live! I had been waiting 6 years to see them in concert and it was definitely worth it.

  • MCR is amazing. This Killjoy made LOTS of noise.

by AdrenalineDangerHeart on 5/19/11Revolution Live - Ft LauderdaleRating: 4 out of 5

First of all, the concert didn't start until 7:20 ish when it was supposed to start at 6:30. I enjoyed the first opening band, but the second just dragged on and on and I really didn't like them. MCR didn't start until 9:30, which really upset me, because I had to leave at 10:30. They did put on a great show, though. I went crazyyy, they were insanely great... I would totally go see them again and again and again. At least now I know. I would love it if My Chem were their own opening band ;)

MCR was amazing !! Great show one of the best moment of my life.

  • MRC kicked @$$!!!!

by zilnaoy on 5/19/11Revolution Live - Ft LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

I bought these tickets at the end of last year and anxiously awaited this show and I must say it was well worth it! The show was amazing. MCR really knows how to rock it hard, loud and fun. The make it all very entertaining. I love the fact that they played at Revolution instead of a larger venue bc I love Revolution bc it feels more intimate and close. The music was sooo loud that my eared felt muffled for the rest of the evening but Im not complaining. The only complaint I have would be that some of the guards at revolution just take there job either too serious or not serious enough! What prevent my night from being perfection was that my cell (iphone) got stolen :( But I will anxiuosly wait to see MRC again!!!!!!!

  • MCR... ROCKED!

by Jovillin on 5/19/11Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

I have loved My Chemical Romance since high school (now graduated from college) and they have never EVER failed me during a performance. Every time I see them, it has always been a once in the lifetime opportunity. The ONLY thing I can say that bugged me a bit was that they did not play "SING" during this specific performance. I was heavily looking forward to the song and it never was played. Other than that, I would relive that night over and over again despite waiting five hours outside to get in, and by the time I was inside my feet hurt so bad I wanted to scream and cry. All worth it in the end. I love these guys and they never disappoint.

MCR WAS AMAZING ...WELL WORTH SUFFERING THROUGH THE OVER CROWDED VENUE AND LISTENING TO THE HORRIBLE OPENING ACTS!

  • by Shortie5613 on 5/19/11Revolution Live - Ft LauderdaleRating: 3 out of 5

to many people inside venue made it hard to enjoy...hate all age shows

  • by Suemia on 5/19/11Revolution Live - Ft LauderdaleRating: 3 out of 5

I am a huge MCR fan so i was super psyched about the concert, i was extremely worried about the venue because i get claustrophobic but i was not going to let that stop me. The opening acts weren't bad but you can tell everyone was there for MCR. I was not happy at all about the location because it was so small and everyone was stuffed like sardines and since Im on the small side i was barley able to see the band only when the people in front would bend down for whatever reason. Even with not seeing, the band was amazing everyone was singing and dancing along. i had a huge smile on my face the whole time, i would definitely go see them again but not in such a small place

  • by TerminalxTragedy on 5/18/11Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

This show was incredible. As always My Chemical Romance rocked. The sound was amazing, the people were great and the staff was nice. At one point, one of the bouncers gave all my friends Frank Iero's guitar pic for being patient with them moving the line around so much due to unloading. Water was regularly supplied to the crowed because it was so hot during the show.

  • A night i will never forget!

    by Yaya11221 on 5/18/11Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

They were awesome! The best part were the different sections of Starland Ballroom for anyone 21 and over. So I got to be very close to the stage and enjoy the show! And MCR gave a tremendous performance.

  • MCR has never looked so good!!!

by RAfan on 5/18/11Revolution Live - Ft. LauderdaleRating: 5 out of 5

I have been a MCR fan since their "Bullets" days and have seen them live three times prior to last night's show. Honestly, I'm not sure how, but these guys just get better and better. Even though I absolutely love their "Revenge" and "Black Parade" days, the Killjoys are much more fun and entertaining than ever!!! The concert is very upbeat, full of energy, and (now that they seem to be playing in smaller venues again) quite intimate. The band sounds excellent live and Gerrard is probably the best showman a band could ask for. The concert was incredible and only reinforced my love and admiration for the band. I <3 My Chem!!!

  • MCR never disappoints!

    by P0shStr3akD on 5/14/11Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

I'm not a concert regular. I've never been to the Starland Ballroom before. I'm not what one would consider a mosher, a crowd surfer, or anyone that would go see a concert in general if you looked at me at first glance, but I swear, My Chemical Romance transforms me into a different person. At first, I was a bit skeptical after standing through the three opening bands as to how excited the crowd was able to get by the time the headlining band came on, but hell, Gerard Way got on that stage and within seconds, the whole crowd went absolutely wild. The band opened up with Na Na Na, and many other songs from their new album followed, but they did include many classic hits from their previous albums, including two amazing performances from their first album, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love. In an instant, we all became the band's puppets. When Gerard told us to wave our hands in the air, we waved them high above our heads. When he told us to jump, we jumped like we had never been so filled with adrenaline before. When he told us to sing, we screamed and sang the words to the songs we all knew so well. The whole room was just in awe at the band, who from our standpoint was giving their all. Ray was shredding that amazing solo in Vampire Money, and Frank was screaming his heart out in Vampires Will Never Hurt You, and Mikey was playing his bass all over the stage. "This is definitely a Jersey show," Gerard told us. That night, I didn't care that I got dropped while crowd surfing, or getting knocked over in the mosh pit, or losing my voice screaming the words to the song. None of us did. All we cared about was the fact that we were seeing this amazing band perform for us, lead us. It was a night to remember for sure.

  • Blast it to the Back Row!

by WaxenWings on 5/13/11Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 5 out of 5

The crowd was restless, anxiously awaiting the moment that the stage lights would dim. Thursday had just left the stage after an extensive and amazing set that simply tore down the house, and now the moment had arrived. As the crowd broke into a booming, spontaneous chant, "MCR, MCR, MCR..." a familiar voice cracked through the Starland Ballroom Speakers: "Look alive, sunshine!" My Chemical Romance had arrived. Ever since 2004, I have been enraptured with My Chemical Romance. Their musical flair, coupled with their visual and artistic creativity, have always appealed to me in a way that their peers like Muse and Fall Out Boy never did. The one thing I had never experienced in the seven years I have been a fan of the band, however, was the live act. I had heard rumors, stories and audio clips of what appeared to be the loudest and most energetic concerts in the modern pop rock universe, but none of this could compare to the real thing. As soon as My Chemical Romance took the stage, the crowd exploded. Everyone could tell that the band was more than just a little excited to be playing in their home state, and that energy was infectious. The entire crowd jumped, danced, screamed, and sang along to every word of "Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na)," setting the tone for the rest of the evening. My Chemical Romance produces extremely infectious music. Gerard's unique voice, coupled with his flair for lyrics which evoke the feel of comic books and rally the crowd to follow his every move and request, backed by amazing guitar work by Frank, Ray, and Mikey, create a unique musical act that only gets even more amazing live. If you love My Chemical Romance or if you're simply looking to have an amazing time at a live show, you can't go wrong by seeing these boys. I never knew what I've been missing these past seven years, and now that I do, I simply cannot wait to see My Chemical Romance again.

  • My Chem was ridiculously amazing!

by touchXmyXheart on 5/13/11The Tabernacle - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

The entire concert was awesome, including the opening bands but MCR was incredible. I've been to 3 of their concerts total and this one was by far the best. They truly care about the music and putting on a good show, as well as keeping the fans safe. I want to go back already! =)

  • My Chemical Romance Experience

    by Tash92 on 5/13/11First Avenue - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

This concert was amazing from beginning to end. The opening acts were stellar; opening with the Architects, they set a calm kind of intro pace (at least compared to MCR), and Neon Trees warmed the audience up a bit with their lively, quick paced songs. When My Chemical Romance came on it was incredible. The audience was enthusiastic and very excited, and the band was remarkable. The sound was good, the lights were awesome, and the music was fantastic. One of the best experiences I've ever had.

  • by BigShow on 5/13/11The Tabernacle - AtlantaRating: 4 out of 5

My ears are still ringing, mostly because of all the high pitched teeny-bopper squeals. Especially after this latest album, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, I may have aged past this band. Teens do make for shorter beer lines, though. The new one is very poppy yet poignant, which come to find out after reading a Rolling Stone interview with front-man Gerard Way, is exactly what he set out to accomplish. And it has to be hard to follow the pinnacle of conceptual, The Black Parade, of which they unpredictably (by me anyway) played a handful of tunes including "Mama" and the appropriate, "Teenagers." I guess bot songs would be appropriate seeing as how there were a lot of Mamas chaperoning. But don't get me wrong, they still burn up a stage and deliver a force of high-energy rock to be dealt with. I know for a fact I'm too old for the amoebic motion of a younger, floor level audience. After the first song, "Na Na Na Na Na Na," Way pleaded with the sardined sold-out crowd, literally and figuratively at his feet, to pick up anyone who dropped out of sight. Balcony is plenty comfortable for me, not to mention a much better view of the spastic band. They didn't quite play all of the new tracks but thankfully included "Vampire Money" which, for me, was worth the reasonable ticket price. Multi-color haired Emo-kids be damned, I'll probably see My Chem again. WES

  • My Chemical Romance= AWESOME!

by KaliC on 5/12/11Starland Ballroom - SayrevilleRating: 4 out of 5

My Chemical Romance was awesome! This is the second time I saw them, and I must say they still have it. The venue was another story. It was so packed that I couldnt move. I was sore for days from being pushed and shoved and punched. By the time they got on stage I needed to leave the floor and sit in the bar area to enjoy the concert.

  • AWESOME

Best show ever!! This was my first concert and I was not disappointed.
