Music Midtown features a diverse lineup of over 30 artists across 4 stages for 3 DAYS. Be it rock and roll, hip hop, pop, electronic, or anything in between, Music Midtown has been Atlanta's premier festival for music lovers of all kinds since 1994.
So much fun! Great shows, great music, great event. I only wish it was planned for days where the weather was better. But I loved it. Got front row to everything I saw.
Amazing show! Never knew how great one of my favorite bands really is. Took my admiration for this versatile,super-talented band to unanticipated new heights! I would follow this band anywhere through any muck, mud, cold, fiery furnace.
I mostly came to see Queens of the Stone Age but the others were a nice surprise. The only complaint I had was the sound was entirely too low during the headliner, Red Hot Chili Peppers. Everything else about the event was great and a little rain couldn't be helped.
We were disappointed that Cake and Janes addiction played at the same time forcing us to choose. Next year consider making Sunday a half day event as well so we can space out the acts better.
After attending in 2012 I purposely bought VIP tix for the all day Saturday event. The food was great and the bathroom conditions far better than general admission. However, there was no VIP access to the other side of the park to see Queens of the Stone Age or Imagine Dragons. The least you could do was play it on the big screen instead of ads for 90 min so the people in VIP could see the acts performing across the park.
The music festival was epic!! Everyone there was there to have a good time and did just that . On the second day it rained making it harder for tickets to be scanned and delayed the time to see the concerts, but other than that it was a great time.
So the lineup at Music Midtown was amazing. Red Hot Chili Peppers were on my bucket list, and I was in an amazing spot toward front of the crowd when they played. It was pretty much one of the best live shows I've been to, however, I read that a LOT of people could barely hear RHCP. I didn't experience any sound quality issues due to being up front, but with the amount of ppl who were in attendance: Everyone to the back should be able to hear the show as well. Furthermore, the event staff was absolutely crippled by pouring rain, which killed the ticket scanners & created mud all over everything. We ended up being let thru without anyone checking our tix, & I'm just sayin that's jacked up when I paid as much as I did for those tix, and then to not even have them checked. Anyone literally could just walk in. I would recommend the festival, but only if the lineup is worth it. To be honest, I'm focused more on Bonnaroo next year, & I know they won't have these sorts of issues up there.
The rain and mud were a bit too much. Imagine Dragons was very good as was Weezer. The sound was too low for Red Hot Chili Peppers; the main reason we attended the event. That was disappointing.
Everyone we saw was great until RHCP and then the sound took a nosedive for some reason. Otherwise highly recommend and will attend again.
We had a GREAT time at Music Midtown! Got to see some of the best bands live. People were nice & having a great time. Next year, the restroom situation HAS to be resolved. The porta-potties were absolutely sickening (I'll spare you the details, but there was no toilet paper and nowhere even remotely clean to sit down & people did their business everywhere). The lines were WAY too long for the restrooms. There should have been 3x as many units and someone there to clean them up a little and refill toilet paper for the thousands of people. They were truly something out of a nightmare. BUT... That's the only criticism I have of the event. It was a GREAT time and we'll be back next year if possible!
Waited 3 hours in the pouring rain just to get into an event that I already paid for. The only band I really wanted to see on Saturday was Weezer...I was able to hear bits and pieces of their show...outside of the park....in the rain. Weezer was finished before I got in. The disorganization of this event is absolutely inexcusable and unacceptable.
Acts were all excellent. Wish most of the people in the crowd were there to listen to the music. Atlanta has the worst most disrespectful crowd I've ever been in. Clueless.
Overall, MM2013 was pretty good. The bands and performances were almost all great, as usual. There seemed to be some kind of technical problem with RHCP, which was disappointing, but everyone else I saw was well worth the price of admission. The rain and mud was a minor disaster, but that's not necessarily something within anyone's control. Putting up the plastic walkways through the vendor areas was a good start, but I would have liked to see more proactive steps to do something - anything - about how disgusting it got over the course of Saturday. Some quick wood chips or pine straw in the heavy traffic areas would have made everyone's life less miserable and probably mitigated damage to the park as well. I did notice there were a lot more port-o-potties this year, which was a nice improvement.
There are STILL not enough toilets. I stood in line so long that I missed parts of shows.
My husband & I got two-day passes for the event and he took a work buddy on Friday night. Saturday it rained, and rained, and rained -- so we waited until later in the day and headed to the event around 5 p.m. in time to see the evening headliners. After raining in Piedmont Park all day, the whole grassy area had basically turned into a mudpit, so be wary of weather conditions! In spite of the bad weather, the event was PACKED. The good: It was fun and a great way to see multiple bands at an awesome outdoor venue. Acoustics were great, the stage set up (for all three) was great. I only wish it hadn't been so wet! Would've been awesome to bring a blanket and hang out on the grass all day. The little art vendor section was really cool and an awesome addition to walk through. The bad: There were SO many people. There were NOT enough food vendors or bathrooms (especially bathrooms) to accommodate the crowd. Lines were really long for both -- I waited a half hour to use a porter potty that was literally about to overflow. No one wants that. No one. We didn't even buy any food because the vendor area was so packed.
Overall it was a great 2 day festival with lots of great bands. Everyone could have done without the rain on Saturday. The worst part about it was the long lines! The lines to get in were too long, but the constant long lines for the restrooms were the worst part. If you had to use the restroom be prepared to wait 30 minutes minimum.
The lineup was awesome, the concerts were great, the new stage overlooking the skyline was fantastic. The rain was terrible, which isn't anybody's fault obviously. But the ticket scanners stopped working in the rain, which made the lines outrageous. We missed Weezer because of it and actually went home until the problem was fixed.
I would like to say that the lineup of bands at this event was great. The mud was mother nature's fault but one thing that did bother me was the lack of plan b when the weather interrupted the ticket scanning service was discouraging. The lines to get in on Saturday were absolutely ridiculous. I also think they needed more portapotties.
The entrances had no organization at the park. You could wait in the line an hour to get in, or just cut the line like everyone else...Meanwhile, why even buy a ticket--I saw enough people climbing fences to sneak in. This is quite possibly the most unorganized festival I've ever been to. It was easier to leave the festival and go to a restaurant than wait in line and eat there. Even the rain couldn't make this festival more awful than it already was--if anything it probably kept people from fence-jumping. You'd really expect better from Atlanta...
Everything I had hoped/anticipated it would be. Totes.
