About

In 2008, both Sub Pop and Mudhoney celebrated their 20th anniversaries. Sub Pop could think of no better way to do so than by putting out as many Mudhoney records as possible. So, in the past 18 months, Subpop has released a new Mudhoney album called The Lucky Ones the deluxe, remastered edition of Superfuzz Bigmuff, and recently, the vinyl reissue of Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge.

As Jay Hinman says in the liner notes for the deluxed-up Superfuzz: "My feeling-and I know I'm not alone in this one-is that for all the play and worldwide attention several Seattle-area bands got during the 1988-92 period, at the end of the day (and even at the time), there was Mudhoney-and then there was everybody else. To me, you, and most everyone who was paying close attention to underground rock music during those years, Mudhoney still sound like the undisputed kingpins of roaring, surging, fuzzed-out, punk rock music. Mudhoney still raging and awesome!

by Inhumentor on 10/8/19Brighton Music Hall presented by Citizens Bank - Boston

This many years on, Mudhoney surprise us with possibly the best album of their career. I was very happy that they rocked through so many of the new tunes at this show, but still fit in a bunch of the classics. Great times! Pissed Jeans did a spectacular job of revving everyone up. Those fellows have some mojo as well.

    What show?????

by qwerty7 on 7/28/15Bowery Ballroom - New York

The ticket said 8:00pm. We got there a little before 9. There was a party going on for the band Blur. We were told the first band was to go on at 11:45. As much as we were looking forward to seeing Trail of Dead again,we weren't waiting 3 hrs for the first band. No doubt it was a good show,we didn't see it. Wondering if anyone else had the same problem???

    Rocked my face off

by lolakitty13 on 7/14/15Brighton Music Hall - Boston

I'd seen Mudhoney plenty of times in the past, but this show was the best to date. Mark Arm channels Iggy Pop and bends and twist in ways no 50+ man should. They sound as strong and rock as hard as ever. Best time I've had in a while.

Legends live up to their reputation

by Stackshot on 7/14/15Brighton Music Hall - Boston

Solid performance from start to finish, with songs from their entire catalog. Mudhoney was raucous while maintaining instrumental virtuosity and the always exciting Mark Arm was awesome. They managed to crank things up a little more for the encore for a great finish.

    What a night

by Headwich on 7/9/15Bowery Ballroom - New York

NYC did not want the band to leave so they gave us a 24 song set. This included half the new album, a good helping of the staples and gems like Oblivion, Inside Job and Blinding Sun. My wife and I had a spot up front by Guy's side of the stage and managed to get a set list from him. Wonderful night, great sound and a show I will not soon forget. I am still hoarse. They should visit here about once a month.

    Mudhoney Monday!

by Anonymous on 7/9/15Bowery Ballroom - New York

Absolutely amazing. One of the few Grunge bands I did not get to see in the late 80s and early 90s. I'm so happy to be able to see them perform such a kick ass show. Best small venue to see them too.

    Mind blowing

by TimJG on 5/13/13Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

Pissed Jeans was a fantastic opening band! They got everyone moving! And Mudhoney blew my mind, they sounded great live, and I got to meet the band members and have two of my guitar inspirations (Mark Arm and Steve Turner) sign my Bigmuff shirt! I got to talk to Dan too, about music and doing what you love and lots of awesomely deep stuff. Plus my girlfriend and I got his drumsticks. Amazing band, amazing show, awesome venues with really kind staff.

    Even Mark Arm's a fan.

by TheStarkFistofRemoval on 9/6/10Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

As I'm watching the openers, I see a dude looks kinda familiar off to my right. Look closer...oh yeah, Mark Arm's watching the opener. Obviously, dude's a music fan. Which bore out when you watched the show. These guys put on a fantastic show. I mean, we all wanted to hear the big hits, yeah, but the fact is that a lot of us would have still enjoyed it with some eye rolls and insincere smiles. Arm's eyes damn near bugged out of his head...he looks kinda like Iggy a bit, definitely in a different place when he wasn't singing. And as much as I love listening to Arm and Turner double team the audience on guitar, I think the band sounded better with Arm able to flail, contort, and just frontman the hell out of us. All in all, great show.

    Mudhoney's Still Got It!

by edouglasww on 9/6/10Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORK

It was a little worrying when they kicked off with five songs from their 2008 album The Lucky Ones, which was kind of weak, not just because the material isn't great but also because Mark Arm decided to act like a frontman lead singer and let the band back him up. When Arm finally strapped on his guitar, then that Mudhoney sound was back and they immediately started going through their entire back catalogue, covering both their slower dirge ballads and punky upbeat tunes, really showing that the years of touring has stuck with them, because the set just got more and more energetic as it went along, the audience having a blast slamming and stage-diving. It reminded me of when I saw the band at a venue above The Palladium back in the early '90s, but this time, one of their roadies took it upon himself to grab the stage divers and drag them backstage (who knows where they went?).... when Mark took it upon himself to dissuade a stagediver with a face-full of crotch... well, let's just say they won't be doing that again. Original Mudhoney drummer Dan Peters was also in fine form, getting a number of showcase drum breaks, and Guy Maddison did a good job keeping up with him on bass. "Touch Me I'm Sick" was played late in the main set, but paled in comparison with "In 'n' Out of Grace"... the encore was perfect!

    first Mudhoney show

by ronnio on 7/11/09Grog Shop - Cleveland

This was my first Mudhoney show after years of listening to their discs. The show started a little late, but with a 10pm time on the tickets, i kind of expected it. My take on the whole show and on mudhoney in general is that they are underrated. This worked in my favor, though, because i got to see them up close in a small venue. Turner's guitar work was outstanding, and the whole band shined. Mark Arm's voice is great and helps define the whole Mudhoney sound. The drumming was awesome, and the bass was spot on. I was going to give them a 4 for not playing more from "Tomorrow Hit Today", but what the heck, they deserve a 5. I'd love to see them again. I'm going to to pick up their latest disc.
