    Much Ado is Worth Doing!

by GoodIdea on 10/16/09Gottwald Playhouse at Richmond CenterStage - Richmond

This is a wonderful production! Although the start is bumpy, with some unnecessary musical numbers that are not on par with the quality of the rest of the show, once the cast gets started the performances are stellar. Beatrice and Benedick are particularly wonderful, but in fact the entire cast desires kudos for making this a two hour play that flies by on the wings of laughter. This is a must see if you like Shakespeare, or live theatre, or would just love to spend an evening being entertained by a group of talented people.

by AshlandEnthusiasts on 10/11/09Gottwald Playhouse at Richmond CenterStage - Richmond

Wonderful acting and atmosphere. The Playhouse reminds me of a modern "Blackfriars". Definitely put "Much Ado About Nothing" on your theater list!

An incredible performance in a gorgeous new venue

by ThomasinaC on 10/4/09Gottwald Playhouse at Richmond CenterStage - Richmond

Richmond Shakespeare upped the ante this summer with 'Henry V,' 'A Midsummer Night's Dream,' and 'Hamlet.' They've done it again. This is quite possibly the best ensemble I've ever seen; every cast member added vibrance, exuberance, and depth to the play as a whole. Richmond Shakespeare 'regulars' and newcomers alike will enjoy performances by not only favorite familiar faces (such as Sarah Jamillah Johnson, T.J. Simmons, and Bob Jones) but also newcomers (such as John Conyers, Alana Smith, and Chris Blake). It seems unfair to highlight certain cast members, because everyone truly gave it their all. Director Grant Mudge was clearly in his element with a perfect storm of a dynamic cast and a new space. Those who have come to love the former downtown performance space (Second Presbyterian Church) will be delighted by the meshing of the intimacy of that space with the layout of the summer venue, Agecroft Hall. Those who are new to Richmond Shakespeare will wonder why they haven't been coming to these shows for years. All in all, it would be a shame to pass up a chance to see this show.

    Much Ado -- Great Show

by JBMidlothian on 10/4/09Gottwald Playhouse at Richmond CenterStage - Richmond

Much Ado About Nothing at CenterStage in Richmond, Virginia is a great show. If you have never seen much Shakespeare, this is the play for you. The language is very understandable and the entire cast does a great job. The lead male and female are really outstanding. Together and individually they add both fire and humor to their roles. If you are tired of sitting at home watching boring television, this is an excellent reason to go to downtown Richmond and experience some true culture.

Much Ado About Nothing was quite Something

by SD2010 on 10/2/09Gottwald Playhouse at Richmond CenterStage - Richmond

The actors and actresses in the play were incredible at portraying their roles. They capture the excitement of the audience and have you laughing and in awe the whole night. Beatrice and Benedict were extraordinary, as was Leonardo, Don Pedro and Jon Pedro.

    Fantastic

by Tuckers on 7/15/09Brunish Hall Theatre - Portland

It was a WONDERFUL show. Small and intimate, fun and engaging. We laughed and laughed. I couldn't have asked for a better evening at the theater. The cast was a fun group and interacted with the small gathering as if we were all old friends which really added to the experience. Can't wait to see them all again!

Much Ado About nothing Or Where's Chaz

by jeffreyart on 7/13/09Brunish Hall Theatre - Portland

Much Ado / Where's Chaz was very entertaining. We were laughing quite often & enjoyed the show entirely. Great adaptation to modern setting. The Love Guru had me crying, I laughed so hard! All of the cast was engaging & made the time fly. I will be looking for more from this group in the future.
