About

Everyone's favorite Scottish nanny is headed on tour in "a feel-good, family-friendly comedy that delivers" (The Hollywood Reporter). Based on the beloved film and directed by four-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Zaks, Mrs. Doubtfire tells the hysterical and heartfelt story of an out-of-work actor who will do anything for his kids. It's "the lovable, big-hearted musical comedy we need right now," raves the Chicago Tribune - one that proves we're better together.

  • A fun and lively show

by Steve on 11/29/23Fisher Theatre - DetroitRating: 4 out of 5

We enjoyed the performance, especially that of Rob McClure. Robin Williams left a “tough act to follow” with his performance in the movie. Lots of energy and lots of laughs.

  • Phenomenal

by Chase and Fan on 11/29/23Fisher Theatre - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

One of my favorites! Maybe a little bit due to nostalgia, but everything was just done so well. The main character was perfect for the role and did the voices perfectly. The changes from the movie were done, logically, and executed flawlessly.

Wow Awesome and amazing This production was very well done. The venue (Fisher) is a top notch location. Actors did a superb job, portrayals were spot on. One of the best shows I've seen. Bravo!

  • Language was the main reason

by Not a family event on 11/28/23Fisher Theatre - DetroitRating: 1 out of 5

The on stage effect we thought was going to be a family focused show instead the cursing and using God's name in vain. We ended up walking out very disappointed. Our 17 year old said I don't want to stay this is awful.

  • Absolutely loved it

  • So much fun!

by Nikki on 11/28/23Fisher Theatre - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

I took my family to the show as an early Christmas gift while they were in town for Thanksgiving. We love musical theater and were also there representing three generations of long time fans of the Mrs. Doubtfire movie. Our entire group gives rave reviews! The original songs were wonderful, the cast was so talented, the adaptation from film to stage seamlessly incorporated the best bits from the movie without becoming a live replica. So many laughs! We couldn’t have asked for more!

  • Mrs. Doubtfire

by Jim on 11/27/23Fisher Theatre - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

I was not expecting much going into this show as I'm not much on musicals or plays but since it was made after one of my favorites movies, I decided it was worth the risk. I can honestly say, I'm glad I took the chance as I was blown away by how much I enjoyed it. The cast and props were amazing, I found myself laughing out loud multiple times even though I knew what was coming. Rob did an unbelievable job as Daniel/Mrs. Doubtfire and at moments made you believe it was Robin behind the mask again. I highly recommend this to anyone that enjoyed the movie or wants to laugh for a couple of hours. You won't be disappointed. Congratulations to everyone involved.

  • Humorous

It served its purpose. It was a fun night out. The main character did an incredible job. He made the play worth watching.

  • Mrs. Doubtfire

by Needed a laugh on 11/27/23Fisher Theatre - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

Absolutely loved it, made me and my sister laugh throughout. Didn’t read reviews because I find critics just that! Partial and always looking for cracks. Been going to theater for over 50 years and know when something is good, great, mediocre or just bad. Rob McClure was brilliant and would have made Robin Williams proud. Entire cast exceptional and the athletic dancing was pure enjoyment

  • Heartwarming

by ASAP on 11/27/23Fisher Theatre - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

As an avid fan of the original movie, I was a little worried about the changes that would have to be made. You obviously can't replicate Robin Williams. I loved the story the stage show created with updates to the modern setting. There were little hints of Robin Williams sprinkled through the show. One of the songs in the beginning touched on Daniel’s perspective as a father watching his eldest daughter grow up, it brought me to tears. I found this story line to be more focused on the love of the children. It was just a wonderful, updated story. My husband and I truly enjoyed it. The acting was superb.
