Too Campy

Welcome to the Moulin Rouge!
Baz Luhrmann's revolutionary film comes to life onstage, remixed in a new musical mash-up extravaganza. A theatrical celebration of truth, beauty, freedom and — above all — love, Moulin Rouge! is more than a musical; it is a state of mind.
How wonderful life is...at the Moulin Rouge.
Please note that due to the nature of live theater, we are unable to guarantee the presence of any particular cast members at a specific show. Thank you.

This was a wonderful show. I loved the movie and this show kept many of the visuals and songs that made the film great and expanded them with even more music (and, arguably, a better soundtrack, in total). Aaron Tveit is fantastic as Christian and Karen Olivo was better as Satine than Nicole Kidman (and better at performing “Firework” than Katy Perry). The Duke is far more enjoyable as a villain than in the film and creates a more-believable love triangle. Fantastic sets and lighting design and a more complex story, especially for the ensemble. Don’t miss the preshow, which starts 20 min before showtime and gives a great preview of what to expect from the ensemble cast of characters. Did I mention the set is spectacular? It is the most complete transformation of a Broadway theatre that I’ve ever seen.
It was an incredible experience, from the theater design, music, .. Just WOW.
Not the most comfortable seats, but the show made up for it.
I expected to be dazzled. I wanted it! Sadly, it was as if the two leads were acting in two different plays. Add to that the fact that they had zero chemistry and we felt the male lead was the weak link and we were disappointed. For the price we paid, we should have been blown away. The sets, the talent of the rest of the cast, the costumes, it was all there BUT the two leads should not be acting together. Find a male lead who matches the talent of the female lead and has chemistry with her and this would be Spectacular Spectacular. I recommend Hadestown instead.
Moulin Rouge did not disappoint. While I expected the show to be exactly like the movie, it was not. However, the show stayed true to the story line, but surprised us all with more modern songs mixed in with some of the most memorable songs from the Moulin Rouge movie. I thoroughly enjoyed the singing, dancing, the vibrancy of the show, and laughed out loud at some of the witty remarks. Don't miss it. Loved the show. Everyone left happy.
I loved the storytelling through the acting and the selected songs. The songs connected us all to the story and the characters. Aaron was amazing - his voice is spectacular. Great afternoon of music and theater.
If you like popular music this is the show to see. You’ll hear over 70 songs from your present and past. You’ll seeing beautiful customs and creative staging. Although a sad story you’ll leave with a smile on your face.
We sat at the Can Can Tables- what an experience!! The theater was gorgeous! The actors and dancers were so engaging. It was mesmerizing!
Worth every penny. Didn’t disappoint. Fantastic show x
Moulin rouge is incredible ! The sets , the dancing and the music were all fantastic and came together .. I would see it again !
Went with 3 friends and we all thought it was the best play we have seen since Dear Evan Hanson. We love the acting , music and costumes!! A++++
Wow were the words I used as we walked in to the beautiful theatre and it just continued. Colourful, entertaining and so clever how the production is being kept up to date with modern music. Absolutely loved it and would highly recommend.
So disappointing. Waste of money! Didn’t appreciate the girls in Burlesque “thongs” squatting in our faces! Stage and costumes were fabulous! Standby actress for Satine was horrible! The “screaming” singing was horrible! The movie was 100 times better! Music was different than movie. They tried to cram in as many “one liners” from as many songs as possible. Actors seemed confused like they messed up their parts. It was the worst! .
We were a party of 5, different ages and we were all delighted by it. I highly recommend watching it.
Words cannot begin to describe how amazing It was! Loved every minute of it! I’m planning to go and see it again next summer.
the moment you walk into the theater you know you are in for a treat like no other ---this show should sweep the Tony Awards next season--- if it doesn't...something is wrong!
I've seen a lot of Broadway shows (musicals and plays) over the years but this one takes the cake! Everything from the hugely talented actors (Aaron Tveit! Karen Olivo! Danny Burstein!), the phenominal ensemble killing that incredible choreography (by Sonya Tayeh), to the songs that you know from Pop culture but somehow all work perfectly in the moment, to the costumes, wigs, and SETS! It's a must see for sure!
Beatiful set design. Nice lights. The rest is mediocre at its best. Terrible acting. Poor costume design
Attending Theatre for over 50 years with Moulin Rouge being right at the top of my favorites. If you are a fan of pop music, you will drown in excitement for the way this show connects lyrics to the plot. The cast was magnificent, dressed in beautiful wardrobes. Definitely a 5-star event!!!
