Welcome to the Moulin Rouge!
Baz Luhrmann's revolutionary film comes to life onstage, remixed in a new musical mash-up extravaganza. A theatrical celebration of truth, beauty, freedom and — above all — love, Moulin Rouge! is more than a musical; it is a state of mind.
How wonderful life is...at the Moulin Rouge.
Please note that due to the nature of live theater, we are unable to guarantee the presence of any particular cast members at a specific show. Thank you.
The theatre was beautiful! The show was great. We loved the soundtrack!
I didn’t feel the music selection was very good for the play, and the main vocals/actors a disappointment. We left at intermission. On a positive note, the costumes and the sets were great but not enough for us to sit through another 1 hr +15min.
Brings to ones heart the love of Paris and the Moulin Rouge . . . the cast is perfect, as is the entire production and should receive Tony awards in every category
Really enjoyed the show. Amazing talent in the cast, amazing sets. So much going on on stage hard to watch it all. And so many fun and familiar songs. Definitely a must see! I know I’ll be seeing it again.
The music was fantastic, giving a modern and contemporary twist to a story line. Costumes, the set, and the acting especially were incredible. I have been to many different musicals/plays, but this one is in its own class. A really amazing time - one of the best productions I’ve seen!
Great show, voices, choreography and costumes! Totally enjoyable!
Loved the music, so creative, great dancing, great actors/singers, and va-va-va-voom sexy!
They obviously spent tons of money on this show. The production looks beautiful but has no soul. The program lists almost ninety songs and most of them are sang as one liners just to get a chuckle out of the audience. Any time a song feels like it's building to something it morphs into another song. It becomes numbing very quickly. The cast sings and dances their butts off but there is no chemistry between the leads and the tragic ending is totally anti-climactic.
Amazing from start to finish - the music, performances and the setting.
Absolutely stunning theater. The show exceeded my expectations! Karen Olivia and Aaron Nevit were brilliant along with the rest of the cast. Could not have been better!!!
The whole cast is so talented. They blended beautifully! It’s highly entertaining, I grew up loving all the songs. I brought my kids, who enjoyed it as well. It’s more than two weeks now after watching the show, my kids wanted for us to listen to the soundtrack every time. They’re favorite was So Exciting Song and part of the show.
If you are looking for pure, unadulterated entertainment and want to be wowed, Moulin Rouge! is your show. If you were a fan of the Baz Luhrman movie, then Moulin Rouge! is definitely your show. If you hated the movie and it's sensibilities, then you won't like the musical either. It's big. It's bold. It's lavish. It's absurd. The plot is simple (even simpler than the movie). The characters are thin. But you are not here to see Brecht or explore the human condition. You are here because the talent is off-the-charts amazing. You are here because the music is uproarious. You are here because the Al Hirschfeld Theater has been transformed into a $26 million visually-loaded cornucopia for the senses. To those looking for something more than that, I say simply “Giuchie, giuchie, ya ya da da. Giuchie, giuchie, ya ya here.” Understand what you're coming to see, sit back, and have the time of your life. PS - I DO recommend listening to the cast album first. Yes, you won't be surprised by all of the newly-licensed songs that appear in medleys throughout the show, but you also won't be distracted or shocked by them, and you'll enjoy the whole experience more when you can just sit back and take in the way it's put together live. Trust me on this.
Best show on Broadway! Talented actors, songs, set, costumes all fantastic. The enthusiasm of the actors and the spectacular production was first class. Satine’s singing!! What a performer!
Absolutely amazing! I went with my 4 friends, 2 of us are huge fans of the movie the other 3 had never seen the movie. All of us left completely amazed by the whole production. From costumes, choreo, songs, special effects. The small changes in the story line do make it easier to follow for a live production so you don’t even miss the original scenes you’re missing. Above a 5 star show! Will definitely be going to see it when it travels to my home town next year.
Moulin Rouge is a show that I had waited a long time see and finally when I was sitting in the audience I felt kind of disappointed. It's easy to see that millions of dollars has bee spent to the scenery and costumes - and all that was luxorious. I just got the feeling that it was too much and overruled the actors. The music was also a disappointment...medley after medley and also here the actors were overruled. I got the feeling that the lead players didn't believe in the story themselves. I'm sorry to say, but this was not my show.
The decore was lovely. Music was good the lead female swallowed her words had very little range..
Awsome - Epic - Incredible, Certainly one of the best musicals I have seen, Highly Recommended, If given the opportunity would see again A+ *****
It was everything I hoped it would be. All the best songs from the movie were still in the play but they added a bunch of new songs as well. I loved how intimate the theater was and we felt like we were on top of the stage even though we were in the balcony. Rush to see this play.
Visually delightful musical. Updating some of the music from the original movie was brilliantly accomplished. Well done! Theatre was comfortable enough.
Such a fan of the movie that’s why it prompt for me to see it. Amazing casts however I was slightly disappointed with the soundtrack.
