“MORE THAN A BROADWAY SHOW. A CELEBRATION OF MUSIC THAT TRANSFORMED AMERICA!”
– CBS Sunday Morning
It began as one man's story… became everyone's music… and is now Broadway's musical. MOTOWN THE MUSICAL is the true American dream story of Motown founder Berry Gordy’s journey from featherweight boxer to the heavyweight music mogul who launched the careers of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson and many more. Motown shattered barriers, shaped our lives and made us all move to the same beat. Featuring classic songs such as “My Girl” and “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” experience the story behind the music in the record-breaking smash hit MOTOWN THE MUSICAL!
Entertaining and exciting from beginning till end. Loved the music.
The production was amazing. It was unbelievable how much the young lady sounded like Diana Ross. All the performers were great. I can't wait to see it again. Just Excellent!!!
I was unexpectedly very impressed with this show. Initially, I was going to support Chase Phillips in his roll (s) but it turned out to be such great entertainment from all of the actors/singers. I thought the songs were great and took me back to my younger years of listening and dancing to these songs at family gatherings. I thought the girl that played Dianna sounded just like her! Felt like i was at her Las Vegas show! Loved Smoky, Tina Marie, Commodores, the Temptations, etc... they were all great! The venue however needs to be updated, not everyone is skinny and the seats are very tight, no leg room, it was very uncomfortable.
Motown The Musical was excellent from beginning to end! The cast was full of energy and talent. The music and groups of Motown were very well represented. Barry Gordy would be very proud of this ensemble. My parents, husband, and I thoroughly enjoyed the show!!
This was absolutely the best show ever that's been at the Lexington Opera House! This show made me feel like I was watching the original people back in that time period. I hope they bring this one back very soon so I can bring more friends to the show. Everyone was simply AMAZING!!!
Motown was incredible. I saw it on Broadway 2 years ago and absolutely loved it. Decided to see it in Baltimore and was afraid it would be a disappointment. But it delivered!!!!!
Any music fan will enjoy this high energy show with almost non-stop hits. For anyone who remembers Motown as the soundtrack for their life, this musical will hit the spot and them some. The cast does a fantastic job recreating the look, sound, costumes, and signature dance moves of Motown's greatest acts. The crowd got into the mood, singing and clapping along to all the familiar beats, vocals, lyrics and tunes. For a night, you are transported to another place and time witnessing the magic of Motown's beginnings and impact on pop culture. Do not miss this musical event!
From the most familiar tunes of Motown to the most familiar faces, Motown The Musical is a show we all must see. Although the story feels rushed, the music alone will keep you entertained. The costumes were true to not only the time period but as well as the unforgettable performances of some of the most known acts. The actors and actresses truly embodies their characters from singing to talking, I felt like Diana Ross and characters alike were really there! Overall maybe not the greatest production but a well executed one with dynamic and incredible acting and singing.
This was our 1st experience at Lex Opera House and we will definitely return. The venue was perfect for the Motown Musial. The performers were all outstanding and did an amazing job of capturing the music and personalities of all the Motown stars. Parking was easy and access to seating was a breeze with ushers and great support staff available throughout the small but well laid out auditorium. My wife and I were truly transformed back into the 60’s tonight. Thanks for a great evening,
So much fun! It was amazing to see so much talent telling a great story!
I had a blast being taking back the past of Hitsville USA!!! I love that era of music. Motown lives on!
Motown the musical was great. I highly recommend this production.
This show was very well done. Being from Detroit, the story of Motown was quite informative. I would see this show again and again!
This is one of the best shows I have seen. This is like having a play and a concert all in one. There's only one problem. I wanted to get up and dance the entire evening and I had to keep the peace with the people behind me and resorted to dancing in my seat! This is a 10 star show!
All I can say is this show was an absolute delight. I felt like I had been teleported back in time where everything began. The musical performances were phenomenal, and the stage and sound were outstanding. My only regret is that I won't be able to see it again.
The talent was awesome ... The Music was amazing .... But I found fault in the storyline :( The storyline was more about Barry Gordy's and Diana Ross' love life than the history of the company .... Gladys Knight and Pips were not even a part of the show! Shame Shame ! Simply put, the name should be Love Child not Motown.
Everything about it was awesome. The music was fabulous and they did so many of the songs that were popular it is impossible to count them. The singers and dancers were all amazing. It is one of the best shows I have seen.
Wonderful!!! took me back to the college days,,Wanted more of some of the songs.
Motown the Musical is a must see if in your area. You will not be disappointed
This show was amazing! Such talented performers! I would see it again!!!
