About

Motörhead is an iconic British rock band, originally formed in 1975 and still going strong. Their original sound, hard work and creative musical development have seen them become one of the world's most renowned rock bands, with a vast fan base across the globe.
The band was originally formed by Ian Fraser Kilmister in 1975. He's more popularly known as Lemmy and is the singer, songwriter and bassist for the band. In a changing line-up, Lemmy has remained the only constant member throughout Motörhead's 35 year history. Other band members include — or have included — Brian Robertson, Larry Wallis, 'Fast' Eddie Clarke, Lucas Fox, Peter Gill, Mikkey Dee, Wurzel, Phil Campbell and Phil 'Philthy Animal' Taylor.
The band's influences are diverse, and they are considered to be one of the first members of British heavy metal's new wave movement, which brought a fresh sound and approach to the musical genre between the late seventies and the early eighties. Although the band is typically associated with the heavy metal genre, their sound is unique and they are known for creating their own groundbreaking "fusion" sound of punk-led rock, along with sounds that pioneered early thrash and speed metal. Lemmy has often said that he feels more influence with punk rock than with heavy metal. Their sound has remained authentic to their roots over the years, and their fan base has grown accordingly. They have well over a million likes on Facebook alone. They have collaborated with Girlschool and the Plasmatics, among others.
Their career has seen Motörhead release over 21 studio albums, along with 12 compilations, 10 live albums and 5 EP releases. The most successful chart success for this power trio was during the early ‘80s, when they had a number of singles in the Top 40 charts. One of their most successful singles – and one that crossed over into mainstream appreciation – was “ Ace of Spades,” released in 1980. Some of their most beloved albums include the Ace of Space, Overkill, Bomber, Aftershock, The World is Yours, Kiss of Death and No Sleep 'til Hammersmith. They have sold over 30 million albums across the world and toured extensively across the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australia – often returning to their UK roots when they can. They have also played at a variety of festivals, including Reading and Leeds and European events.

    Great show.

by BuckWoody on 9/28/15House of Blues Orlando - Orlando

Was worried if this show would even happen, given Lemmy's recent health issues. Happy to say the show went off without a hitch. Yes, Lemmy is showing his age, but Motorhead still put on a great set. They are definitely one of those bands you should try to see at least once in your life if you are a hard rock fan. Anthrax continues to show why they are the ultimate metal comeback story. Ever since they reunited with Joey Belladonna a few years back for the "Big Four" event, they have just been incredible live. The tracks from "Worship Music" fit right in with the classics, and they made the most of their set time at this show. They are better players now than they were at their peak. Crobot was a cool surprise, heavy but with a definite 60's funkiness to it. Good opener, and very different from the other two bands on the bill.

    Openers better than the headliner!

by jmjames on 9/28/15Fillmore Charlotte - Charlotte, NC

Crobats really impressed me with their on-stage presence and sound. I had never listened to them before, but my next stop after writing this review is Amazon to order some CDs. Anthranx was easily the highlight of the show, playing high energy, fun music that got the crowd excited. While I never really got into Anthrax before, they've made a new fan and I will definitely try to see them again in concert. Motorhead was one of the most disappointing acts I've ever seen live. They lacked energy. The music was so loud my ears were ringing two days later (never has been that bad before), meanwhile I literally could barely hear Lemmy over the rest of the band. As a casual fan, I was disappointed in the song selection, only being able to recognize one of their well-known songs (Ace of Spades). The crowd died quickly shifting from Anthrax to Motorhead. I'm glad I'm able to cross Motorhead off my bucketlist, but I feel like maybe the boat has sailed on these guys. First time at Fillemore Charlotte, not a fan of this venue. Small place. Disliked the amount of spiked clothing I saw flying around the mosh pit, especially given their "no spiked/studded clothing" rule. Why was I given a pat down for knives and guns if I can lose an eye to some goober's jacket that they openly wore into the venue? I'll be back because it's the only game around if you lived outside the Raleigh area... but still. It was also really uncool to ask the bar if I could get some water after the event and be told "we aren't serving now". I wasn't asking for beer, just wanted some water after 5 hours without a beverage.

    So Sad.....

by RivetHead on 9/28/15House of Blues Orlando - Orlando

Anthrax was amazing. But it was obvious that Lemmy is not Lemmy following his heart attack. I suspect that if Motorhead didn't have a new CD coming out that they would not be on tour. Motorhead's guitar player was obviously covering for Lemmy and not only talked over him but stood in front of him while playing some of his guitar solos. Speaking of guitar solos this "just over an hour show" featured a guitar AND drum solo. I have been waiting for 35 years to see this band and in the end I did not see the real Motorhead at all. I'm still happy that I went but I would never recommend this tour.

    Motörhead!

by Rockosma on 9/28/15The Fillmore Charlotte - Charlotte

Anthrax and Motörhead were amazing! This was one of the loudest shows I have ever seen. Both bands sounded great. Just to see Lemmy was a thrill. Only drawback was that the drinks at this particular venue (The Fillmore in Charlotte NC) were crazy expensive. Mind blowingly so ie. $8.00 for a 16oz Pabst Blue Ribbon!?! They went up from there.

Pretty good show. Anthrax is always entertaining. They always seem to be having a good time. Motorhead was good. Lemmy looked a little tired and frail.

While Motörhead was memorable and well worth the admission price, Saxon was equally enjoyable.

    Motorhead never disappoints

by ElectricFuneral65 on 9/19/15Nikon at Jones Beach Theater - Wantagh

Motorhead has been kicking butt for decades. Lemmy might be getting up there in years, however, he continues to deliver after 40+ years. I highly recommend seeing them before it is too late. Anthrax was excellent and they have a lot of energy and a great set list.

Motorhead continuing to push forward full throttle

by reneela on 9/18/15The Dome at Toyota Presents Oakdale Theatre - Wallingford

Motorhead's singer/bassist Lemmy Kilmister has grappled with a slew of health issues, forcing him and Motorhead to cancel and/or truncate recent stops on their current tour. Nevertheless, they proved they are still capable of delivering a high octane performance as was the case last Tues. night. They plowed through a satisfying set of both old and new songs with plenty of screaming guitar work and pounding drum solos as delivered by Phil "Wizzo" Campbell and Mikkey Dee, respectively, and all rounded out with Lemmy's signature bass work and guttural, growling vocals! Anthrax also continue to prove their worth even with various lineup changes. Of note I will say, Jon Donais and Scott Ian were super on the guitars. Jon was once my guitar teacher and besides being superb as a tutor, he is a great asset to this band. A perfect fit for him for a gig and vice versa!

Despite Lemmy's health problems, he still has it.

by Jughead74 on 9/15/15The Fillmore Detroit - Detroit

Was worried that like some previous shows on the west coast, Lemmy would be forced to leave the stage early. But not only did Motorhead play for an hour and a half, but they sounded great. Lemmy looked frail, but he still sounded like the Lemmy of old. Anthrax played a great setlist as well and had the crowd moshing. If this was Motorhead's last hurrah, I am glad I got to see them(again).

    lemmy is god

by Majka on 3/29/11Starland Ballroom - Sayerville

as far as im concerned, motorhead will only stop touring and recording with the death of lemmy. They are a great band and as a person who is 30 years younger than the main audience, it is good to see one of the greats get up on stage and do what he does best, beat the hell out of you with good music. Motorhead is the real deal for all true metal heads.
