About

Motörhead is an iconic British rock band, originally formed in 1975 and still going strong. Their original sound, hard work and creative musical development have seen them become one of the world's most renowned rock bands, with a vast fan base across the globe.
The band was originally formed by Ian Fraser Kilmister in 1975. He's more popularly known as Lemmy and is the singer, songwriter and bassist for the band. In a changing line-up, Lemmy has remained the only constant member throughout Motörhead's 35 year history. Other band members include — or have included — Brian Robertson, Larry Wallis, 'Fast' Eddie Clarke, Lucas Fox, Peter Gill, Mikkey Dee, Wurzel, Phil Campbell and Phil 'Philthy Animal' Taylor.
The band's influences are diverse, and they are considered to be one of the first members of British heavy metal's new wave movement, which brought a fresh sound and approach to the musical genre between the late seventies and the early eighties. Although the band is typically associated with the heavy metal genre, their sound is unique and they are known for creating their own groundbreaking "fusion" sound of punk-led rock, along with sounds that pioneered early thrash and speed metal. Lemmy has often said that he feels more influence with punk rock than with heavy metal. Their sound has remained authentic to their roots over the years, and their fan base has grown accordingly. They have well over a million likes on Facebook alone. They have collaborated with Girlschool and the Plasmatics, among others.
Their career has seen Motörhead release over 21 studio albums, along with 12 compilations, 10 live albums and 5 EP releases. The most successful chart success for this power trio was during the early ‘80s, when they had a number of singles in the Top 40 charts. One of their most successful singles – and one that crossed over into mainstream appreciation – was “ Ace of Spades,” released in 1980. Some of their most beloved albums include the Ace of Space, Overkill, Bomber, Aftershock, The World is Yours, Kiss of Death and No Sleep 'til Hammersmith. They have sold over 30 million albums across the world and toured extensively across the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australia – often returning to their UK roots when they can. They have also played at a variety of festivals, including Reading and Leeds and European events.

    Slightly disappointed

by SeaDogg on 2/7/11The Warfield - San Francisco

LOUD concert. Great Bay Area rock crowd (as usual). But I expected more showmanship from a band that has been touring since the 1970s. He has a lot of hardcore, longtime fans. Lemmy needs to have an espresso before the show.

I was excited to see that it was a sold out show! The opening act, Valiant Thor rocked it. I hadn't heard of them before, but they were awesome to watch. I'm definitely going to get some of their music. ...Clutch was alright..not too much of a fan, but played a good set. Motorhead? I AM SO GLAD I got to see them! I loved them in highschool, and Lemmy can still bring it. They are bad ass, and will always be bad ass, period. Played the good stuff, and some new stuff. ha, glad I brought some ear plugs before the show, or I would've lost my hearing. ...if you weren't there, you missed out!

    Motorhead was way too loud

by Anonymous on 2/6/11Showbox SODO - Seattle

Valient Thorr and Clutch both put on good shows. Clutch threw down a great set and sounded awesome. We were stoked for Motorhead, but were soon very disappointed. Is it really necessary to turn it up to 11 in such a small venue? No it's not! Loudest show I've ever been to and first that I left early because of it.

    What a Rock Show!!!!!!!!!!

by LukeDee on 2/5/11The Warfield - San Francisco

Great show with three awesome bands. Motorhead's drummer played the greatest drum solo ever, Lemmy was amazing, and the opening band Valiant Thorr was great.

    Motorhead - better than ever

by Mark1000 on 2/5/11The Warfield - San Francisco

What an amazing show. Lemmy simply doesn't age. His bass playing is incredible. Phil Campbell and Mickey Dee kicked ass. They are a machine, cranking out new material every year that sounds great live. Excellent combination of newer material and classics. Overkill is just an amazing closing song and the strobe lights added an interesting new effect. Quite an enthusiastic moshing crowd on the floor. Motorhead cannot return to San Francisco soon enough.

    S.F. Motorheadbangers, "Lemmys God."

by seanrocks on 2/5/11The Warfield - San Francisco

At the young age of 65 ,Ian still gives the croud what they came to see"GIVE ME SOME MOTORHEAD." With so many albums its never enough. Would of liked to of heard more of the "classic's" but they are on tour promoting the new album. Never a let down with Motorhead, true professionals with one of music's most under-rated frontman singer/songwriter Ian "LEMMY" Kilmister. Keep comming back Lemmy your trully "GOD." of ROCK-n-ROLL.

Lemmy and Crew - Consistent as the rising sun

by Metalfanatic on 2/5/11The Warfield - San Francisco

Once again Motorhead delivered the goods! They are the model of consistency each and every time I have seen them. Mikkey Dee is still the absolute best in the heavy metal genre on the drums and Lemmy is ...a true legend. How someone 65 years old can handle the rigors of the road life, deliver quality albums every 2 years like clockwork and play with an incredible level of instensity, is simply awe-inspiring. Motorhead, in a word, is consistency.

The show was great. Good starting bands.

by squidman1 on 2/4/11The Warfield - San Francisco

Getting there was easy via BART. Places close by to get some drinks with fellow rockers. Easy to get in and out of venue. I enjoyed the show. Loud kick Ass Rock and Metal. My ear drums were still resinating a Rock and roll dial tone the next day. But thats a good thing. The show gave us something to talk about the next day at work.

    The legend, Motorhead

by kikid on 2/4/11The Warfield - San Francisco

I decided to get tickets to Motorhead on a last minute decision.A show that we had tickets for the night before was cancelled due to illness. My friends & I were so bummed, so my husband was looking around & saw that Motorhead was playing.I love Motorhead & never saw them live before. So I suggested we go. It was one of the most amazing shows I have ever seen! They were so professional. You can tell they have been together for 30 years. We loved both opening bands too which doesn't happen very often. Great venue, great band!Thank you Kirsten A Magario,

    too loud for the venue

by Rhodesengr on 2/4/11The Warfield - San Francisco

Don't get me wrong. I love my rock loud but when it gets over a certain level, you can barely tell what song the band is playing. That was the case with this show. The first band played at a good level. Clutch was way too loud, especially the base. Components of the venue were vibrating which sounds like distortion.
