By the end of the show my face hurt from laughing so hard and long. Great play, amazing performances. I didn't know the story before I went, great night.
terrible re-hashing of the holly grail, id rather watch the tv version.
Awesome, great. There were minor flaws, but everyone did a great job!
I love broadway, and i love Spamalot. I've have seen the show in Chicago Pre-Broadway, On-Broadway, and now the the Phoenix Touring Company in Milwaukee. We still enjoyed the show, the humor, the creativity, but sadly the quality of most of the performers was sub-par. King Arthur and Most of the Knights and Patsy were a cut below what I would have expected. On the other hand the Lady of the Lake was outstanding and the ensemble also extremely talented.
I've always been a Monty Python fan and even more so after seeing this "adaptation." I went with my two sons, ages 13 and 15. Both found it absolutely hilarious. Great, great theater, especially for the boys--their first big play! Pure joy!
My husband is a huge Monty Python fan so he was a little worried that he might be disappointed...He was estatic! He gave them a standing ovation (and expected everyone else to do the same). It was fun to see some intelligent (as well as bathroom) humor that isn't so watered down by PC-ness. We both laughed a lot, but he absolutely loved it and couldn't stop talking about it all weekend. He was like a kid! It was great to see him so excited. And since my mother gave us the tickets as a gift, she is now the best mother-in-law ever. I've already recommended it to friends...too bad it doesn't have a longer engagement in Milwaukee.
1st time to a play at Milwaukee Theater, Awsome building, awsome people. Event was breathtaking & funny. Great joy!
High energy, entertaining show for Monty Python fans! Helps to be familiar with M.P. & the Holy Grail, or some of the humor is lost.
This musical was funny and well produced. It wasn't spectacular, but it was good. Songs were well sung and orchestra was great.
The production was fantastic! Sets, costumes, talent, songs, and humor were far better than I ever imagined. Each scene was well crafted and the actors believeable. Loved the music and dancing. I've recommended the production to over a dozen people since coming home - I'd see it again for sure!
The musical had all your favorites from the movie and even if this was your first Monty Python experience it was well worth it!
As as long time Python fan, this was GREAT. Not only the expected funny bits from "The Holy Grail" were in it, but new bits as well. WOW
If you are a fan of Monty Python, or are not offended by blatant sexual innuendo and glorification of the homosexual lifestyle, then this is a very entertaining show. Not only does it follow the basic story of the Quest for the Holy Grail, it also takes moments to parody musical theater itself. I've seen this show with a Broadway traveling production; this production was not quite to the level of that one, but it was still very well done; the Lady of the Lake portrayer was probably the strongest of the cast; the rest held their own but weren't quite as strong.
Spamalot is absolutely amazing! It is hands down the best show I have ever seen. I have seen it 5 times now, and went both nights at this venue. Have taken people that know nothing about the Monty Python Holy Grail movie and they all have loved it as well. It is very exciting, hilarious and even has an inspiring message.
As one who never missed a Monty Python episode 'back in the days', Spamalot was an energetic, hilarious, irreverent romp through some of their best, rediculously far-out moments. Leaving no race, religion, or sexual preference unscathed, no one could seriously take offense! To see large, costumed men glide across stage effortlessly was amazing, and the tempo in both the music and dance was spot on. Brilliant satire such as this steals us away for a few hours, giving us the luxury of laughing at life and at ourselves. Bravo!
Our group ranged in age from 10 to 47 and we laughed our collective a**es off. It was a great way to kick off the holiday season and something we hope to repeat in the future. The updated referenced to Britney Spears & Subway were just as funny as the classic Monty Python lines and made the show fresh. We cracked up until we snorted and that just made us laugh harder. We recommend it to everyone & prior exposure to Monty Python is NOT a prerequisite to enjoying this show.
Great show to enjoy for any age, we had fantastic seats. Very talented performers!
I always worry about seeing a touring production of a Broadway show, especially if I have had the chance to see the original production - I have seen casts not give their all or simply not be as strong as the broadway cast. The production of Spamalot on Dec 10th in Milwaukee was so well done - so fun - that it easily waylaid all my worries! Stellar performances from Caroline Bowman, Glenn Giron, Martin Glyer and Adam Grabau alllowed me to ignore comparisons to the original cast and simply enjoy the good fun that Spamalot is! A much needed great night of top rate theatre here at home! THANK YOU, ALL!!
outstanding performance, extrememly enjoyable, music and acting was top notch.
